So many questions...

All I ever needed to see was when they made their forum so that if you typed the word "Blackfire", you would get *********.

That was enough for me.

If a company is *that* afraid of a competitor, that it won't allow the competitors name to be typed, that company is NOT for me. I know they changed the policy eventually, but I'd rather not shop at a company that has China-like ideals.

I wrote propercarcare.com it redirects to autogeek.net-pretty low of them.

I do not consider it low.

It should be common business practice when establishing a domain to also register common derivations and common misspellings. It is all about not giving your competition or just normal cyber squatting from getting misdirected to other places.

It is also getting google search to have your business near or at the top of the list when searching on terms related to your business. This is modern marketing.

Of course that could mean registering thousands of other sites. The derivatives and misspellings can be endless.

And then there are those who whined and complained about DC being changed to autopia.

Well, isn't that modern business marketing?:toetap05:

I think we can all agree that AG does some shady things. I'm surprised noone has talked of how they push products yet. I find it sickening to see some enthusiast with little knowledge ask a question only to have one of the AG employees tell them that the answer is they need to purchase a bunch of products from the in-house-brands "You need DP Extreme-Foam!"

My favorite is their care care site that includes the name of a competing forum and store. They are not the same company. Won't mention the name of either. But in all fairness PAC did push their line as well. What do you expect?

You're wrong about PBMA purchasing Autopia. PBMA took control of Detail City and renamed it Autopia Forums to take advantage of the Autopia sales name.

Autopia is a separate entity and NOT a part of PBMA.

False info like this is why I have avoided a registration at AG. Seems like there's a lot of feeders on misinformation over there, and critics too.

You said, I was here to learn. Learn what? About the demise of CMA?

Please don't wander too far from AG.

Mr. Gloss...

If you look I did register here back in March to read opinions about the products PAC offered that are not available through other stores. I have never had a reason to post as I am not a regular here. The post I made about PMBA and who they acquired was directly from a PBMA press release. Take that how ever you want to!

I hope the rest of the TID community was not offended, I hate to see anyone leave the detailing supply world! Competition reduces cost for all of us and if fosters creativity to stay competitive. We "ALL" benefit from competition and advancement.

I hate to say it but sometimes its not the guy with the best product that comes out on top, its the guy with the most money or who promotes themselves the best.

I for one was excited that PAC had a new website and that things were looking promising. Sad to see them go.

The press release was misleading. You must have missed that discussion.

The PBMA purchase is just a rumor from what I hear. But then again Max at PBMA said that he was going to be "aggressivly expanding" in 2011 with started with squiring detail city and autopia. I can see why people would make the logical jump. Expeciall since this was a sudden event.

Fair enough, but there is a difference between hearing a rumor and speculating. In this case, at least to me, 'hearing a rumor' seems to be used interchangeably with 'I'm making a guess here and I want to see if my hunch is correct.'

It has been too long since I was in school (and I don't remember much of my college years anyways but that it is a topic for another thread) but I did study business.

If PBMA really purchased CMA, then I don't believe it would make any business sense at all for them to allow CMA to close, sell off inventory at low prices (killing our margins and temporarily hurting PBMA's sales) only to have to re-establish the brand at a later date. Perhaps somebody will a better background on accusations and mergers could correct me but... If PBMA was interested in the hardware (namely the inventory) it wouldn't make sense to sell it at 25%, they would wrap into existing stock. If PBMA purchased CMA and was planning to keep it as a separate entity then it wouldn't make sense to have a going out of business sale (which might reduce cost due to reduced inventory) because the cost of re-establishing the business would be greater than the slightly reduced price.

That said, and until the final hour, please keep TID a great place to be. So please no bashing of our competitors! I would rather see this forum disappear with dignity and respect if that's okay with you great guys and gal(s) that have made this such a great, if not quaint, forum.

Todd

Todd you are welcome to delete this post and every other post I have made here and for the fun of it BAN ME!

In the end it does not matter, and I REPEAT, and I REPEAT "I AM STILL SAD TO SEE ALL THIS HAPPENING."

My reply wasn't directed at you, just a quote to address one particular issue. I have banned exactly two people on this forum and have no interest in adding to that list. You are more than welcome to stat until the final hour; I would only ask that you(and whomever else) just respect the forum and the direction it has maintained until the end.

Please don't take my previous post as an attack on you and I should have clarified that better

Thanks Todd !!

BTW has there been any attempt by anyone to further the discussion about moving this forum to another server? Does CMA have the rights to this forum and if they do would they be willing to transfer those or sell the rights??

I am sure that there is someone ;) who could provide some web hosting/server space.

Exactly. I remember seeing a story about how some p*orn site was using a misspelling of "Disney" to direct kids to a p*rnographic site. Great marketing tool for sleeze bags.

Todd, I see alternate reasons. I do not think Jack would get MORE money by selling his stock to another reseller. That is, I do not think resellers pays 75% of list price for product.

I have speculated on scenarios but I will not repeat them here. The one think PAC wants is ready buyers.
