Hey guys,

I was going to clean my engine bay, and I have no idea whats the best way to do it. I really want this spotless. This is a part of my car that I neglected, and I have to change my ways =)

I used EF de-greaser and Hi-Intensity cleaner and a soft wheel brush and some cloths I didn't care too much about. It really came out great. I would cover the electrical stuff with baggies, plastic wrap, something to keep the water off of it. I scrubbed the engine bay and components down and hosed it all off. The EF products worked great. I followed with 303 on hoses and now I'm keeping things clean. Oh I did use AIO and SG on the painted surfaces.

On a 2001 model year all you should need is a damn microfiber towel. Sure it will be ruined, but it does a good job. With that new of a car there should be no need to such strong chemicals in order to clean it...unless it's leaking oil, which I hope isnt the case.

Id evaluate how dirty your engine comparptment is be you shoot any cleaners under the hood. See if you can get away with hoseing it off, and dressing it. Otherwise if its really that dirty then go with either EF product that James described. But I would think that a car thats less then 1 year old wouldn't be that dirty under the hood.

I'm confused regards engine bay cleaning and some of the advice I've read here concerning EF H-I Cleaner. The container says that using this on paint isn't a problem but one of the members here cautioned users to cover the fenders first? Is this fact? I was going to use this under the hood and on painted jambs. Yes? No?

Thanks ...

It's over 58F outside - just gave Nelly a bath! Time for another coat of BFWD - next snow due in two days...

Happy Holidays!

Hey GEWB... You inspired me! 49 degrees, no wind.

I just did my GTP. It was already clean, so I just did a QD wipedown with Z6, then added a coat of BFWD with my PCXP, speed 3 with a 3M black waffle pad. Then I removed it by PC with black waffle pad over a soft microfiber towel.

Total duration, 27 minutes.

Thanks for making me get off my butt to get outside and get some excersize!!!............. (Fresh air felt good!)
