Review: Michelin brake dust repellent and 3 n1 tire shine w/pics

I went to Autozone, Advanced Auto, and NAPA today... no one had any of them... or the new Meguiar's brushes I was looking for :(

Some Wal Marts have the brushes, I picked up the new mf pads there, seem very similar to Ranney's just narrower.

Very nice :up

I picked up the wheel and tire cleaner because I was impressed by the fact it is has a neutral pH and is endorsed by Michelin itself.

It's going to be a while before I get around to using it. I have loads of other cleaners on top of this one now.

This product was also about $6 and I tested it with a pH strip and it confirmed the pH is 7,understanding these aren't the most highly accurate testers.

Bill, I understand it might be some time before you can post a review of the Michelin wheel and tire cleaner. Has anyone else used it and can give us a review?

I have. Petroferm gave me all of the products last year. I cant find the review with a search for some reason, so I will summarize. Ive been using the products for quite awhile.

I was very impressed with the Brake Dust Repellent and Tire Care dressing, but I didnt particularly like the Wheel Cleaner.

The Dust Repellent is very easy to apply and remove, and worked very well at slowing down the brake dust on the wheels.

The dressing was easy to use and left the tires a perfect matte finish and very black with no sling. Does not stand up to rain very well. One of my favorite dressings.

The Wheel and Tire Cleaner worked ok. About typical as most wheel cleaners. IMO, not enough bite for a wheel cleaner. Its the way most manufacturer reduce risks of damage.

I still prefer the standard. I prefer EO A2Z.

Personally, I continue to use the Dressing and Dust Repellent, but I dont use the wheel cleaner.

I'm frustrated in trying to find the Michelin products here. None of our local auto stores carry this as far as I can tell. Autozone does not have, neither does Pep Boys, Advance Auto Parts, WalMart, Target, Napa, etc.

I went to Michelin US' website and not a word there either.

Does anyone have a suggestion on where to find this product in Georgia?

Should I try Michelin tire dealers?

I believe there is a store selling online, but you'd have to pay shipping of course. Otherwise, I don't know how to get the product other than wait for it to be distributed in California. I will probably just wait.

Hopefully it'll just be a matter of time. I stopped by the local Autozone Tuesday, and, to my surprise, they had the Tire Shine in stock and carried the other two but were out. I was thinking of getting the wheel cleaner when they got it back in stock, but NozeBleedSpeed's review of it has me questioning that decision.

I remembered reading your review on these products as well. I think Bretfratz had some too, IIRC.

I tried to find that thread when I started mine so that I could post the link in my review, but could not find it either. :nixweiss

Yeah eb, I looked too but I couldnt find it. Your review was much better anyway.

Tom, if you have an interest in it, try it. Its cheap enough to give it a shot, and you may like it. Its certainly not that its a bad product, its just that I dont like it as well as others.

i think the only place that has it is... autozone. i searched everywhere as well (kragen, pep boys, etc...) and no had except for them. if they don't have it now (most autozones around me have it now), they should soon...

I got mine last week from AutoZone. I got the last one!:woot:

I asked the manager how it was selling. he said very good. I'm thinking maybe AutoZone isn't stocking allot of it until they see how its selling.:nixweiss

I was going to try it out this weekend but its going to poor down rain !!

it seems like that's the way it is with the stores around me. they'll stock 3 and see how it does. :nixweiss

I picked up a can of the Michelin brake dust repellent from an Auto-Zone in another town. It was the last one they had. I went in our local AZ tonight, but I forgot to look to see if they had it.

My wife's GTP dusts up the front wheels awfully bad. I get sick of trying to keep them clean. I sure hope this stuff helps.

I finally tracked down a contact at Petroferm, the company that makes and markets these products. I'll let you know if they have any local Georgia stores.
