Optimum Hits A New First.....

Some years ago here on Autopia I introduced many here to Optimum products, especially OCW, so it's cool to once again annouce something from Optimum that is new and groundbreaking......the new Hyper Polish and Hyper Compound.

Much like the older formulas they have long working times, easy clean up, increased leveling properties, little to no dusting but the most unique property of the new system is that they are in "spray-able" form!

That's right, not a typo.....Dr. G. has designed a unique polishing system that Ron and I have been testing now for months which no longer require a cream type base. These abrasives are now delivered in a liquid spray-able form.

The great advantage here is that the Polish and Compound are now laid down on the painted surface more evenly which allows the whole face of the pad to be covered with the product.

Along with the new Polish and Compound are new pads, including a unique silk-wool leveling pad that has been designed with these new spray-able products in mind.

I also requested to tweak the Optimum Finishing Polish which I now believe is just about right in terms of cut, oils and finish.

Here is Optimum Hyper Polish sprayed onto the panel of a car. It clings nicely and that one spray should be able to polish out the whole door.

If someone that is not affiliated with optimum gets to test some out, please let us know how it stands up to a 5x straight IPA wipedowns.

TIA!

Edit:

Anthony how do you pick this product off the paint using a rotary and not get splatter all over?

WOW!!!!!

How do they work with a DA?

What kind of abrasives & do they clog up the sprayers?

Is this basically a pad dependent system?

Hey Barry, not sure of the cost.

Can the polish be used by hand? I can see that being a very nice addition :D

Yes they can be used by hand but they have been designed and tested with machine use first and foremost.

I know it's difficult taking someones word for a product when they are closely involved with said product but in the same way since I am involved to a degree I sure wouldn't want to put my OK on a inferior product.

Sling is controlled by slow starts with the polisher. It can sling if one starts too fast and abruptly but the sling is so light in volume because of its make-up that a single wipe will remove any excess.

105 is an awesome product but any left over sling can harden like concrete so I wanted to make sure this was easy to clean up even the next day if left.

Hey David,

I tested them with the Flex orbital and they work great. They don't gel well with the foamed wool pads though but other pads, like the new Hydroshine pads, work great.

The Hyper compound uses non-diminishing abrasives while the Hyper Polish does not. They can settle in certain sprayers so I recommend only using those that come with the bottles.

Thanks Anthony! Dr. G is a genius. :bow

Just got the Hyper Polish and Hyper Compound on Saturday, didn't say anything because I didn't realize they were out yet. I've tested a few versions but never in a production label bottle like they ones I just got.

Used the Hyper Polish today on a basic (1 DA polishing step) detail today, using a 5.5" orange Erasure cutting pad. Seemed to work at least as well as #205 does, really like the fact that it is easier to prime the pad with a spray then drawing X's and O's on the pad! Excellent gloss, no real idea on the cut yet because the CL55 I detailed was pretty much swirl free to begin with. I used the Hyper Compound by hand (using a MF towel) to remove a pretty thick paint transfer on the front bumper, removed it pretty quickly and I didn't see any hazing.

Got a black Passat tomorrow, with any luck the sun will pop out by the time I am ready to polish. It isn't a correction but I'm interesting in seeing how Hyper polish works on VW paint.

What would you compare the cut to and how does it finish?

That looks great, can't wait to try them!! By the way thanks a a great job on my car. I purchased ONR and OCW from you and all I can say is WOW, they are great !!!! Optimum has great products.

Some questions if you dont mind Anthony....

Were these developed to work best with a rotary / da?

What would the cut and finish be compared to for each?

How difficult is it to get the oils off the paint?

Thanks
