Optimum Hits A New First.....

I just ordered a large shipment- over 1k in product from David, but held out for this new system so will have to talk with him after his 10 day trip.

I am excited to be the newest member of the Opt. program for southern CA along with my buddies in TO and San Diego!

Some of you know that I actually teach his nephew so I'll have to mention this in class tomorrow.

Very cool!

When talking with David, I mentioned 105 and 205, and he noted that I should "hang on" a bit for his new stuff. If this works as well or better...with no dust..wow!!

To be fair, Megs also has something big in the works and will be out soon.

The more "new" stuff that comes up is good for us, that means everyone has to try and outdo whatever just came out. In the end, we win. :)

not meaning to beat a dead horse, but....is sal zaino being left behind? are his products already a generation behind?

Hey all.....

For those wanting a comparison in terms of cut, the Hyper Compound is in our testing on par or better than 105 with less dust and better finish.

There are new harder clears coming out so Dr. G seeks to aim there. This system is geared first to body shops and reconditioners and secondly to detailers/enthusiasts.

The Hyper Polish can be compared to Menzerna Power Finish which I believe is a fine product by the way.

I recently detailed a few Porsches and was impressed with the finish on the 2 silvers and 1 black with the OHC alone but the black obviously needed to be finished down more.

Take care,

Anthony

Hey David,

I tested them with the Flex orbital and they work great. They don't gel well with the foamed wool pads though but other pads, like the new Hydroshine pads, work great.

The Hyper compound uses non-diminishing abrasives while the Hyper Polish does not. They can settle in certain sprayers so I recommend only using those that come with the bottles.

Anthony

Anthony, So you use the flex with the new "silk-wool leveling pad?" Is that the same what you refer to above as the hydroshine pads? If not do you have pictures of these hydroshine pads?

Did you try any other r/o machines like the PC?

Will these products work well with LC kompressor pads?

At this point I can only guess that the new Optimum products would work well with the kompressor pads. We didn't do any testing with those particular pads but we did with pads of similar foam.

Anthony

Thanks for sharing Anthony. When you, Scott, or someone else gets time, could you post a video of the product in action?

Thanks.

Sal is also working on some stuff.:welcome

Rumor has it that Sal often reformulates existing products without ever announcing it to the public. As for Zaino, it's pretty much the undisputed King when it comes to durability. I've gotten some durability from Zaino that is pretty much off the charts.

As for compounds, I've kind of gotten the impression that Sal isn't interested in offering compounds. The market is already full of pretty decent choices. And ZPC already has the best cleaning ability of any polish I've tried and is the only oil free polish on the market that I'm aware of. And ZAIO rivals any finishing polish on the market.

I thought this was about compounds/polishes. What has durability got to do with this thread?

Some years ago here on Autopia I introduced many here to Optimum products, especially OCW, so it's cool to once again annouce something from Optimum that is new and groundbreaking......the new Hyper Polish and Hyper Compound.

Much like the older formulas they have long working times, easy clean up, increased leveling properties, little to no dusting but the most unique property of the new system is that they are in "spray-able" form!

That's right, not a typo.....Dr. G. has designed a unique polishing system that Ron and I have been testing now for months which no longer require a cream type base. These abrasives are now delivered in a liquid spray-able form.

The great advantage here is that the Polish and Compound are now laid down on the painted surface more evenly which allows the whole face of the pad to be covered with the product.

Along with the new Polish and Compound are new pads, including a unique silk-wool leveling pad that has been designed with these new spray-able products in mind.

I also requested to tweak the Optimum Finishing Polish which I now believe is just about right in terms of cut, oils and finish.

Here is Optimum Hyper Polish sprayed onto the panel of a car. It clings nicely and that one spray should be able to polish out the whole door.

This is exciting stuff guys...thanks for the heads-up. Please keep us updated. :D

We did not test the products with the Flex AND also the wool pads......in fact I have never used the Flex with a wool pad as my thinking is it's too aggressive but then again I can't say from experience.

I guess I could try the new silk pad with a flex orbital and see what happpens....now to find a test victim.

The Hydroshine pads are the new foam pads from LC. Awesome pads that really allow you to work any product to its full potential.

As for orbitals we only have the Flex and Cyclo.

Anthony, if you are referring to the cyan and tangerine pads from LC those are called the Hydro-Tech.

As soon as my supplier gets some OHC in, I'm gonna try it out via the KBM with a G110v2. Also interested if it will work with the surbuf pads and a R/O.

Ahh.....my bad thanks for the correction.
