Opti-coat users: Whaddya think?

Covalent silane coatings can cure when you leave them in the bottom of a cup, leaving a hard (MOHS 6-7) plug with a thickness in the mm/cm range. These coatings build significantly thicker layers than typical LSPs, with their 20-30 nanometers.

What do you think of their protection?

That might be true, except the claim here is that Opticoat can't be layered with itself once cured(unless I misunderstood).

I believe you misunderstood. You can put a second coat on IMMEDIATELY after applying the first one.

Your are right. I corrected that. But if it isn't cured I'd think you'd wipe off a portion of the previous coat.

And I will admit that although I think what I've said is true based on my limited reading ability on the subject that the manner in which I've expressed things may have come off as a bit harsh or rude. It was not my intent to slander anyone and I hope that it hasn't been interpreted in that manner.

Criticism is a reason for me to lose credibility? If that's the case I'm guilty. I won't apologize for being critical. I've been critical of many people and products through the years. "you can back me up at the gates of hell and I won't back down" to quote Tom Petty

BurlyQ-critical of his attack on Poorboys

Zaino-unfairly I gave Sal flack for many years based on a wrong assumption on my part

David Bynon-exaggerated product marketing

Ultima-product gunking up

Megs-short lived oil based products, streaking

3m-carcinogenics in products

Chemical guys-products that have caused clear coat and window damage

Mothers, I can't think of any bad product of theirs I've used with the exception of Power Polish being too runny.

Glare-sterile and fell short of the claims, actually one of if not the shortest beading products I've ever used

Collinite-pre VOC 845 is flammable and smells pretty nasty but it does work, not sure of the post VOC

products

Viking MF- I found one towel in particular that scratches clearcoat

TW ICE-horrible product-nuff said

If you think that you have lost credibility because of "criticism", you really haven't been paying attention to why you have lost so much credibility with many of us.

I'm sure that if you go back and read the posts in this thread you can figure it out, assuming, of course, that you really want to (and I know that I should never assume).

I know what I wrote. If I crossed any lines or broke any rules the moderators would have sent me a PM informing me of such. I received no notification from the moderators. If the moderators send me notification then I will post an apology and delete the information. If anyone can prove that what I've written is incorrect then I will remove it.

I'm assuming that you are referring to the $2 technology comment. Yes, you can go to WalMart, BigLots and Ollies and find $2-$4 acrylic polymer and Nano technology on the shelves in the forms of paints, waxes and sealants.

I give up.

OK. Just got back from Walmart with 12 bottles of clear nail polish. Here's the plan: Gonna grab Wannafbody's Miata in the middle of the night and sand the clear off the hood a la David Firmani. After I add some ammonia (hereinafter, "the secret ingredient"), I'm gong to apply Walmart clear nail polish to one half of the Miata's hood and will post the first round of pictures. Not thinking it will be a good idea to be hanging around for any subsequent pictures, so I will rely on Wannafbody to post updates.

I'm sorry. I don't understand why your banging your head against a wall. Sure, I understand that it may cost more than $2 for DR G to produce a product but that doesn't mean that a more expensive product doesn't share some common technology with an inexpensive one. I understand that spray paint is sold in huge quantities compared to sealants and coatings. I also understand that more expensive products may be more concentrated and may have special ingredients added to them. I also understand that it's entirely possible that I'm completely wrong and that Wikipedia could be completely wrong as well. Any assumptions on my part are just the result of uneducated guesses, conjecture, happenstance and possibly unrelated similarities to opinions of writers who I have no affiliation with who in their own part may be wrong. All guesses are subject to an error rate of 1-100%.

Wow, you are planning on vandalizing my Miata? And you are posting this threat on the internet? Should I call the police and report this threat against my personal property? Anyone else want to post personal threats against me or my property?

ATTENTION- Moderators do you want to PM me the information so I can address this threat with the police or would you rather report it directly with my local authorities or GatorJ's authorities? I think this could also fall under a terroristic threat and could constitute reporting to federal authorities and also may fall under hate crime legislation. He obviously has a prejudice against foreign, chick cars as per his other thread:p

If this was supposed to be your idea of a sick joke then I'd suggest the use of smilies. Since GatorJ has no location listed I don't know if he is local to me or not.

Edit:

Never mind. It just isn't worth it.

Wow, until I read your subsequent post, I though you clearly understood this was a joke in response to the silliness you keep posting about this product, including your unfounded theories and accusations, the latest of which I quoted above. Please feel free to report this to whomever you wish, there is nothing in my post that even remotely constitutes a crime, threat to commit a terrorist act or hate crime directed towards guys who drive "chick" cars. (You were serious when you typed that?) I don't have a clue who you are or where you live, nor do I care to. I'm in Tampa.

If you took ANY of my nail polish post seriously (and I don't see how anyone who has followed this entire thread possibly could), I am sorry...for many reasons, on many levels.

Thank you. While I thought your post was in jest the lack of smilies led me to question the intent behind your post. And although I didn't have a clue where you lived the idea may be taken to the next level by someone else who might read what you wrote. Even an unintentional threat should be addressed as a threat.

WFB - you are unreal. Is it medication, or drugs that are doing this? :D

So based on the above, should Optimum go after you because intentionally or unintentionally you may have caused Optimum lost sales?:think::think:
