Would you mind if I asked you, why so many layers of Zaino? There are so many people that say after 2 coats, it is a waste of product. Obviously, you are one talented detailer, and know what you are doing. Is it just Zaino that you would layer like this, or other sealants as well?

It is no wonder why the owner was so pleased.:rockon:

My last conversation I had with Mr Zaino he indicated that 5 coats was the limit for gloss improvement ,but the next time I talk to him I think I will ask him to look at this car....I think he would be very pleased....what a beauty ! :biggrin:

I'll go a little bit further and ask how you quantified 10 coats/layers. Is that the number of times you re-applied the Zaino? All in the same day, using the flash cure accelerator I presume? At what point did you notice a stop in improvement of looks (third coat, fifth coat, tenth coat, etc)?

Really curious, as I tend to be one of those folks that think that after a second (or possibly) third application you're wasting time and product. I'm basing this solely on what I've come across on reading material from different websites and a pseudo-scientific test (way more than I'd fool with) on another forum. Just from what I've seen and read, the build up of layers comes to a stop at about 3 layers.

Great work, car looks great. I hope by my asking the above you don't think I'm trying to knock it at all. Just looking for your opinion on the subject.

Phenomenal, but again, don't be fooled boyz, this is the work of a super alien. You can clearly see 3 suns reflecting flawlessly in one of the fender shots!!! Not sure what planet this is from but they've infiltrated TID.

Just yanking your chain David and again, phenomenal work. You can't hide anything in that bright sun and it looks impeccable.

I'm a big fan of layering sealants!

I had over 50 coats of Z2/Z5 on my black GTP (before I sold it to my son and it never saw another car wash in it's miserable life!!!:banghead I never polished that car in 5 years; I just kept layering Zaino. It always looked great... with hardly any swirls.ut::biggrin:

IMO, with every coat/layer it just keeps looking better and slicker.

Thanks Dan - The paint color was crazy and changed hues at different angles.
The "Thin Mint" pads are really nice. I've tested them on 2 cars with hard paint so far and they are the best DA cutting foam pad I've used to date. They are super stiff and dense, and don't absorb product like many other pads. They are easy to clean, last cleaner longer, cut better than orange/Cyan and finish out very well. :thumbup:

Thanks Jack - Down time between coats varied. Many were done outside in full sunlight back to back. Others were in the garage throughout 2 different days. With ZFX, I don't think you need to wait too long. :w00t:

Thanks bmw5541! The only reason I chose to apply so many coats was pure greed and the car owner is a big fan of Zaino. I agree, not that much change/improvement after 3-4 coats. Paint (especially fully corrected) can only look so good. :rofl:

Thanks jared! As I said above, applying multiple coats is nothing more than bragging rights and personal satisfaction. From a business perspective, the objective is always to impress the owner and exceed their expectations. I'd say what I did accomplished that mission. :spy::Gift:

Thanks jonnyboy! The actual time wasn't very long at all. The nice thing about Zaino is the ease of application. A little goes a long way. Spread it on super thin over the entire car (paint/glass/wheels/trim) and take I it off immediately. Doing it in the sun speads up things alot for me.

When I first looked at the before pics, I thought the car needed some work, but I also thought it was not that bad (especially compared to some train wrecks we see), HOWEVER, once I saw the after shots, you really get a great appreciation for the skill it takes to make such a HUGE difference on even a NEW car.
