Infinity G37S ~ Kevin Brown Method with 10 Layers of Zaino!!!

Beautiful work as usual David!:notworthy:

Would you mind if I asked you, why so many layers of Zaino? There are so many people that say after 2 coats, it is a waste of product. Obviously, you are one talented detailer, and know what you are doing. Is it just Zaino that you would layer like this, or other sealants as well?

It is no wonder why the owner was so pleased.

Barry,
My last conversation I had with Mr Zaino he indicated that 5 coats was the limit for gloss improvement ,but the next time I talk to him I think I will ask him to look at this car....I think he would be very pleased....what a beauty !

I'll go a little bit further and ask how you quantified 10 coats/layers. Is that the number of times you re-applied the Zaino? All in the same day, using the flash cure accelerator I presume? At what point did you notice a stop in improvement of looks (third coat, fifth coat, tenth coat, etc)?

Really curious, as I tend to be one of those folks that think that after a second (or possibly) third application you're wasting time and product. I'm basing this solely on what I've come across on reading material from different websites and a pseudo-scientific test (way more than I'd fool with) on another forum. Just from what I've seen and read, the build up of layers comes to a stop at about 3 layers.

Great work, car looks great. I hope by my asking the above you don't think I'm trying to knock it at all. Just looking for your opinion on the subject.

.

I'm interested in David's answer as well. There are few people in my camp, which is 11 layers is better than 10 and 12 is better than 11. Even Sal Zaino says 5 is enough. I disagree. (I'm a bit radical at times:out::devil:).

There's a guy I know who applies a layer of Zaino to his Electron Blue C5 every Saturday morning before the car show. It's the best looking paint I've ever seen. He's been doing this for 5 years.

Seriously?!??! Seriously David? Really dude? Come on man... who get's such great shots of a silver/gunmetal colored car? As if living up to the standards set by professionals such as yourself hasn't been hard enough on everyone else - there you go again raising the bar. Beautiful work and hope things are going well down there in the warmth

Bill,
after I get my Maro striped we will see if twenty coats of Z5 looks better than ten...LOLOL

Phenomenal, but again, don't be fooled boyz, this is the work of a super alien. You can clearly see 3 suns reflecting flawlessly in one of the fender shots!!! Not sure what planet this is from but they've infiltrated TID.

Just yanking your chain David and again, phenomenal work. You can't hide anything in that bright sun and it looks impeccable.

Very nice !!!

Thanks Jeff!!!

David..... The car looks amazing!

I'm a big fan of layering sealants!

I had over 50 coats of Z2/Z5 on my black GTP (before I sold it to my son and it never saw another car wash in it's miserable life!!!:banghead:) I never polished that car in 5 years; I just kept layering Zaino. It always looked great... with hardly any swirls.:out::biggrin:

IMO, with every coat/layer it just keeps looking better and slicker.

Excellent correction and results!

Thanks Luster - Wow 50 coats!! That's insane. :drool5::notworthy: I bet the beading was crazy?

Nice work David. :hurray:
Thanks CamoZ71! ;)

Beautiful, flawless, job, David !! I love that Infiniti color it is so pretty in the sun.

Tell us more regarding the L/C thinmint pads please !

I also like to finish with a L/C white and Menz PO85RD - It just works so good fo rme too..

Thanks for sharing your beautiful work !!

DanF

Thanks Dan - The paint color was crazy and changed hues at different angles.
The "Thin Mint" pads are really nice. I've tested them on 2 cars with hard paint so far and they are the best DA cutting foam pad I've used to date. They are super stiff and dense, and don't absorb product like many other pads. They are easy to clean, last cleaner longer, cut better than orange/Cyan and finish out very well.

Man, that looks WET! Nice work! May I ask how long you gave it between coats? :drool5:

Jack

Thanks Jack - Down time between coats varied. Many were done outside in full sunlight back to back. Others were in the garage throughout 2 different days. With ZFX, I don't think you need to wait too long. :w00t:

I think that is one of the better polish jobs I have ever seem ! thanks for sharing !

Thanks RED JEWELL SS - Much appreciated. :White Horse:

Amazing work. What a finish, great job.

Thanks Indy YZF! :)

Thanks bmw5541! The only reason I chose to apply so many coats was pure greed and the car owner is a big fan of Zaino. I agree, not that much change/improvement after 3-4 coats. Paint (especially fully corrected) can only look so good.

Wonderful work David!

Pictures came out so stunning, they truly show how perfected the paint is.

Thanks Big B! May the Zaino force be with you. :StarWars:

Oh, yeah...I'd say Sal wouldn't mind if people applied 10 coats 1 bit. :judge:

Thanks jared! As I said above, applying multiple coats is nothing more than bragging rights and personal satisfaction. From a business perspective, the objective is always to impress the owner and exceed their expectations. I'd say what I did accomplished that mission. :spy::Gift:

Great work, that paint really looks wet

Thanks hopsgt500!!:)

nice work davud... that thing is blinging man....

Like I always say....You bring it, I bling it. :iagree:

Awesome correction work there David, looks insane.:drool5:

Thanks brother Angelo!! :driving:

Perfect reflection indeed. Love the shots.:clap:

Thank you very much Tim!

David, thanks for sharing. The G37 looks incredible. It is always a treat to see what your are up to.

jk

Thanks a bunch Jack. I'm so pleased you took the time to check this out. You're a 1st Class Act!!

You're killing me man. Thanks. You guys are my heros and the ultimate Tag Team! :notworthy:

Holy Crap!!! It looks beautiful! How long did it take you to apply all of those coats?

Thanks jonnyboy! The actual time wasn't very long at all. The nice thing about Zaino is the ease of application. A little goes a long way. Spread it on super thin over the entire car (paint/glass/wheels/trim) and take I it off immediately. Doing it in the sun speads up things alot for me.

HACK!!!

j/k the car looks incredible, great job as always, David

HaHa - Spoken like the true master you are. Thanks a million Bret!!

LOL - That's hilarous! My neighbors complain of loud strange noices coming from my garage at time. Buzzing, humming, grinding....I think my wife has learned to zone it out these days. :toetap05::cornut:

When I first looked at the before pics, I thought the car needed some work, but I also thought it was not that bad (especially compared to some train wrecks we see), HOWEVER, once I saw the after shots, you really get a great appreciation for the skill it takes to make such a HUGE difference on even a NEW car.

Well done! That was truly amazing.
