If you were forced to use OTC products...

Which one's would you choose? Hopefully this thread can help some of the members that are strapped for cash...like me (since I'm trying to by my 1st home). Thanx in advance.

Swirl Removal: Mother's Power Polish

Wax: Meguiar's #26

Sealant: Mother's FX Synwax

Clay: Mother's, Meguiar's or Claymagic

Wheel Cleaner: Eagle One A2Z

Tire Shine: Dupont Teflon Tire Shine

Dressing: Meguiar's Natural Shine

All available OTC, all good products that can produce a good shine. I'd include Duragloss, but its not as readily available here in CA as it is in the rest of the country.

Really??? This one caught me by surprise. I haven't tried it, but everyone around here disses anything with Teflon in the name. I'm happy with Mequiars Endurance.

Yup, despite its name, it actually is quite nice. It produces a nice sheen, not too glossy, not too matte. Last I remember, the price was fairly reasonable as well.

Wow, my popcorn took too long to watch the drama ;)

Well, I guess almost everyone here knows that I really like OTC products (in the USA, our OTC here in Mexico is a different story..:() However, it is hard to argue that boutique / online are in many cases better or even better value.

Said so, here is my list for a full detail, and I would also venture to say that I could make a car look as good with OTC than boutique.

Wash: A lot of good ones, E1, TWPUG, NXT and Kit. Granted, they are no prima or sonax shampoos, but for 10% the price you get 90% of the performance.

Paint cleanser: Meguiars or mothers prewax cleaner

Clay: Clay magic

Compound: Meguiars #83 (yes, hard to work, but easily available) If you have a bodyshop supply, you can get Transtar tri-cut that is very good

Polish: Mothers powerpolish. As a matter of fact, I find it neck and neck with Sonus SFX2. Sonus has the edge is look, but MPP is better at removing swirls.

Glaze: mothers sealer and glaze

Glass: Again, a lot of good ones. E1, stoners, NXT

Quick detailing towel: Viking / mothers or meguiars

Drying towel: Viking, meguiars water magnet

LSP, dark paint: Reflections ACW, NXT and E1 nanowax for sealant. Mothers RTC and TWPUG for blends. Mothers, Meguiars and kit gold for carnauba (#26 is very deep, but I hate the application)

LSP, light paint: Mothers FX synwax

Wheel cleaner: E1 and TWPUG

Tire: TWPUG for shiny, reflections for matte

Vinyl dressing: TWPUG, armor all.

Interior quick detailer: Meguiars (undoubtely one of the best OTC products, and one of the best in the entire Meguiars lines, if not the best. I love it!!)

Quick detailer: TWPUG, E1 wipe and shine, mothers showtime.

Booster wax: Duragloss aquawax, mothers FX.
