I found my favorite light compound/polish! OTC too

If it was that easy just to over for a day!

Good luck on the Porcshe! I hate doing white cars, especially Porcshe single stage paint. It's a dirty job and they are my most feared jobs.

I have done tons of ecipses with that process. Foam pads work good for correction, but on clearcoat wool deep cleans the paint and makes the paint look very deep and very glossy. I know some people are scared of wool pads, but it's what you use on the wool is what makes it scary. Presta 1500 is safe and works easy with wool.

Finish it off with 106ff on a finish foam and it will look flawless I also use that 2 step system with flawless results.

I have not used the 1500 as a finish polish, but if I were to use Presta as a finish polish it would be the presta swirl remover. I have not tried it yet as a finish polish, but I will try it to see how it goes for fun.

Thanks Ryan.

I'll order some Swirl Remover when I finish some polishes.

Damn you guys now i just ordered some presta products cause of this thread.i hope they work as you described.

help me with this disease ive got...........detailing obsession.

Ryan, if you were to order or buy a single wool pad, what specifically would you recommend for use with these Presta products? This is something I am likely to use once or twice - - that's it. I simply I don't have the need for HD correction. (I've got a full range of foam pads that can be used with either the PC or Makita.)

Thanks again.

I would go to a body shop supply store in your area. They are around $10

Any specific brand or style you prefer?

(I've got brand new wool pads still in their bags in the basement. I have no idea if they're suitable.)

A few folks have PM'ed me about Presta and these 8ozs bottles I scooped up yesterday. Here's the deal:

AZ Autobody

I have no previous experience, their prices look good, located in AZ. They have quite a few sizes and most (all?) of the product line. I didn't see these "sample" bottles anywhere else. I guess the local body shop supply guy may have Presta products too....e-z enough to verify via telephone, right? ;)

I wasn't going to order anything 'til I saw those mini-bottles. I'll never use up a quart size so this worked well for me. My total cost on the order was around $24 for the three small bottles + $12 for reg. shipping. I guess if you split an order of qt. bottles with someone it would be far more cost-effective.

Ranney sells Presta.

Good luck.

rydawg,

Thanks for bringing the Ultra Light Cutting Creme to our attention! I used it along with a yellow LC pad and it did correct some pretty good scratches on 15 year old Toyota paint. Followed by PO106FF took care of the minor marring left by the pad and created incredible gloss and depth.

No dusting, though the product was somewhat difficult to remove as it would smear rather than wipe off cleanly. I'm sure it was because I was using way too much product and will try again this weekend.

On the one side by side comaprison with SSR2.5 I'd say that the ULCC corrected the paint a little faster, finished down with less pitting using LC yellow, and WAAAAAY less dusting (though harder to wipe off).

Thanks!!!!!!!

Brian

Edited to add: Got my stuff from Ranney

The sheilegal pads are good. Most of them are the same, but the best ones are 100%twisted wool.

Try the ones you have. What brand are they?

Those look good. A little goes a long way and use just enough like a quarter size or a tad more for each panel. A hood should take 4 quarter sizes average to complete.Good sizes to try for personal use.

I remember when the prices of the gallons were $28.95 for the 1500 polish. Now they are like $55 to 60. Inflation sucks!

I am glad it worked for you. This stuff has done me wonders for the past 10 years.

If you are getting smearing then you are using to much.

The learning curve is use enough to prime the pad lightly and work it into the panel until it is gone and the panel is clean and bright. Does not take much to do and there should be no residue when it is finished.

Maybe a sponsor will supply these products..maybe!

ive been using menzerna products for a while and was wondering if there is a different learning curvr for the presta products.menzerna gives out more dust then most and it never has come out completely clear but has done the job.do you work the presta product different from the menzera .

Yeah, baby!! That's what these are - - I've got a couple...one is new. Problem is, they require a center hold-down. I am not sure if I can use it with the Makita. I may need to poke around and see if these things exist for hook 'n' loop mounting.

Thanks again!

Schlegel 875-C 7-Inch Wool Bonnet

Somewhat..depends on which menzerna product. Presta barely dust, but work it in till it begins to dissapear. Should leave a clean bright surface with no lubricating oils at all.

They all have holes. :D See if it has a felt like back. Some do and some don't.

Maybe a store will trade or buy a nut:chuckle:

All is not lost! I have a 2nd direct drive polisher that can accommodate that type of mounting. :) I guess we've grown too accustomed to the soft flex hook 'n' loop backing plates. :nixweiss

Am I using the PC cable for the #1500 polish?

Thx.

thanks for the answer,i was using ip and fp11.i cant wait till this stuff gets here and try it since i screwed up and introduced more swirls this winter.so do you think it takes less time to clear up minor swirls with the presta lite then with ip,and would fp11 be good after presta lite or not needed.

thanks.
