I found my favorite light compound/polish! OTC too

try the UCCL, but if that does not work then you will need to do it with a rotory or just spend some time on the hood with a yellow and uccl. Still the 2.5 and a yellow pad should do something and worth a shot. I am gonna try there new foamed wool pad and see how it works with a pc

you should:nana: Just kidding

If you wanna detail the right way then a pc is a great start. Even me being a pro and I use the rotory a lot, I still go for the pc 70% of the time. Even on bad surfaces I use the rotory with a wool pad and then finish my gloss and a swirl free surface with a pc. So a pc is used on every car I do no matter what the job is big or small whether it does the whole job or finishes the job. A pc gives the best looking finish in the end. 2 Years ago I spent 189.00 for mine and I thought that was a good deal. Now they are even cheaper. Some people have picked them up from Lowes for under $100. But if I were to even have mine break and I was forced to pay $300 for one I would. To me it is an awesome machine and I make money with it. A rotory could not even do the finnese work this can do and that's coming from me that has been detailing cars for close to 20 years. The pc was the best invention in my book and also the foam pads that LC makes.

I wonder what the future will hold for us in for new tools and products???

did round 2 on Sunday morning. For comparrison I tried the edge green pad and ssr2.5 again and it was too much work and the pad gummed up too fast....so I went back to the presta.

Ended up using the edge green pad and flipped between the cutting cream, cutting cream light, and swirl remover. Not much difference between them on this paint so I stuck with the cutting cream light. Very little dusting, didn't load up the pad, and broke down nicely creating a good gloss. 2nd step was an edge orange pad and Optimum Poly Seal, and finished with Aqua Wax spray, and then some mothers spray wax because I had it.

this car went from a "dull gold/silver" to a "put on your sunglasses silver/gold" the paint was definately a shade ligher and much much brighter!!

I'll post some pics.

my paint was so hard I stuck with the cutting creams which finished off so nice I didnt need the swirl remover. I did try it on the trunk lid and it worked great. I will try it on my black truck in a week or so and report back. I just looked at my photos and they suck. I need to read the photo technique forum.

PC with edge2000 pads from Adams. Green on one side, orange on the other. Used green with the presta and orange with the OPS. worked great on the very hard clear.

I am gonna order some edge pads and try them out. You'll have to start a click and brag with your car and post more pics. As soon as my OP no rinse gets here and I can finally wash a car, I am gonna use the ultra light on different cars at my lot and take some pics. Too dam cold here lately to do anything. Thanks for sharing your process and I am glad you had great results! Tomorrow I am gonna pick up some Presta swirl remover also.

Damn

Thats how my W124's paint looks like right now. I am just waiting for a warm day to find out how hard the clear is. What year is your car? Mine is a 92. If yours is around that year I think I should shop for some yellow pads :)

Ryan, it sounds like you're fond of the Presta product ;)

I am trying to understand your process. It sounds to me like:

Ultra Cut Light>#1500 polish> LSP

Is that correct? Or are you suggesting that you can skip LSP altogether since you like the appearance so much when the Presta is done?

Thx.

Hi Tom,

I really do like the presta products, especially on the rotory. The latest one that I like is Presta Swirl Remover. It does an amazing job at removing swirls and producing deep gloss. I know it can be used with wool as I did on that Black GM I did last week. It kept the pad well lubricated and removed some very harsh swirls. Can also be used with a foam polish pad and will leave a swirl free finish with deep gloss. 1500 polish is a little stronger and is a chemical cleaner that works very well by rotory. For finish polish I have been using zpc a lot lately and have had excellent results. I was beyond amazed at the results it left on the black Pontiac. Best part is you can use any LSP on it also.

I always use a lsp and I make sure I protect all my hard work and it stays that way for years.

Maybe we can meet up someday and I can show you some cool stuff. Also if you want me to look at your car I can do that too. I can prep it and you can seal it.

Could I go with you? :bigups

Then Ryan, 1500 polish cuts more than Swirl Remover?

I was using 1500 polish after Ultra Cutting Creme or Ultra Cutting Creme Light, then a product wich cleans good (OPS, PwS, Carlack68, Prime Carnauba...) and a sealant or wax.

Yeah, that could be my un-doing!! Thanks for the offer, pal. ;) (I will take a ride up to see you when the weather improves a bit.)

Yesterday, I found an on-line body shop supply biz and bought 8oz. bottles of the following:

  • Presta Ultra Cutting Creme Light
  • Presta #1500 Polish
  • Presta Ultra Swirl Remover

I'll give these a try and see if I can remove some long-standing car wash damage I haven't been able to correct with other products.

Thanks, Ryan!! Take care.

Sure...come on down!:LOLOL

I was glad I had these on that black Pontiac SSEI I did the other day. The paint was in very rough condition and the wierd part was when I used any compound on this car it just hazed up. I used many compounds from different brands and it was getting frustrating. Paint had a definate chemical reaction deep in the clear. I always get stuck with the worst jobs. :woohoo:

The wierd part was that the 1500 polish and swirl remover were the only ones that budged. The best part of the chemical cleaner is with a wool pad it deep cleans the paint and the wool pad does the correction and the polish acts as a perfect lubricant. Some may argue and be confused with this proces, but it worked amazing and I have tried it thousands of times and I mean thousands since 1500 polish came out in 1993. I was very amazed at the results and there were little rotory/wool marks left and they came out and cleaned up perfect with ease. I am also very amazed by ZPC polish and the abrasives in it are genious and it plays very nice after Presta. I ended up using ZPC with a pc on a LC white pad and it left a flawless finish. It looked like it had many coats of sealant or wax on it and was very silky smooth with not a trace of a swirl at all. After seeing the car in the sun I was very impressed with my process and techniques.

I will have to play with the Swirl remover when I have more time to play.:LOLOL

How has Presta been working for you?

That would be cool. Whenever you want to come up give me a call. I love detailing and fixing exteriors and making them look flawless. It's funny I see cars I did years ago and they still look great.

I think you will like the Presta stuff. For the price they are very good and the best part is that they do awesome correction work. I just started using the swirl remover and it has some amazing gloss to it, but I have not used it as a finish polish yet.

Years ago when I had a 95 Mustang GT, it was bright sapphire pearl in color(looked like a wild purple) with white racing stripes on it, I wetsanded the whole car and used Presta polishes and it came out intense. I got at least 20 compliments a day on it and I won best of paint at some car shows I went to. The funny part was it looked like a custom paint job and did not look like a stock color or a stock paint job, but it was. :p

Keep me updated and good luck with your new stuff!

Ok, I have to check the distance between Valencia (Spain) and Hudson :D

Interesting comments my friend... Tomorrow I'll polish a old white 911, I'll see it this afternoon, but it isn't very oxidized. I'll polish a Mitsubishi Eclipse with very high oxidation, I'll try this combo (wool pad + 1500 polish) and then finish with PO106FF or maybe 1500 polish and finishing pad...

Last week I polished a red Seat León Cupra via 3M Fast Cut with Green Propel + Presta Ultra Cutting Creme Light with Meguiars polishing pad and the result at this point was very good, no swirls and a beautiful gloss. Alfter that, OPS via blue Propel and then Klasse SG diluted 1:1 via PC and Propel v2 pad. The car looked stunning.

Then, wich polish could be considered as finishing polish in Presta line?

The Ultra Cutting Creme is also very good, but the texture of the Light is amazing.
