Favorite Rinseless Wash as of Sept. 2012?

Sure. ONR leaves polymers behind after wiping dry. Even while drying some moisture is left behind which quickly evaporates. This moisture contains polymers which leave a very subtle residue behind. (You can see this on glass that has been ONR'd but not final buffed.) Buffing with a dry fluffy MF removes this slight residue and creates a clarity, gloss and depth that is unmatched by any rinseless wash I've used. Esp, V3...it's simply amazing after a dry buff.

On a panel-by-panel basis the difference is subtle. On a whole car it's quite dramatic.

Try it...do a whole car ONR wash and stand back and look at the gloss and clarity closely.

Then go back and do a gentle dry buff with a soft fluffy MF (don't evaluate the panels too closely while doing...you want to get the whole effect at once.)

Once finished walk away from the car without looking back. Then when you get the correct distance turn around and look at your vehicle again. I'm certain you'll note a dramatic difference in clarity and gloss. :up

Jee thanks Paul! This sounds like a fantastic idea. I will do it on my next wash! Thanks for sharing this tip Paul!

Al,

Just to set the record straight, we manufacture all the chemical products we offer at our Memphis plant. The only products that we do not manufacture in house are accessories such as buffing pads, microfiber towels, backing plates, and the like. I just wanted to set the record straight since I might have mentioned the latter when we met at Detailfest which seems to have caused some confusion. As far as plant visits, we have had many forum members both local members and those visiting Memphis who have stopped by and toured our plant. You are more than welcome to stop by if you are in the neighborhood as well. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks.

David,

Great to have the good Dr. here again. Thanks for setting the record straight by letting everyone know the real deal about your manufacturing capabilites. I would love to some day take a plant tour! But in the mean time I'll just settle on seeing you @ SEMA!

Hopefully you can make it the Autopia 2012 SEMA After Party & Get Together

David,

Thanks for the clarification. I just did not want someone else taking credit for your work. If I am ever going to be in Memphis, I would like this more than going to Beale street or whatever that area is called.

BTW, your response was posted several days ago (I got the pm when you did) and just showed up on the forum.

David,

Been to your Memphis plant a few times on my way to Kentucky. Always good to see you when I roll through.

The unofficial poll results are quite different from other forums. Thanks for your replies and input everyone!

So I got a chance to use ONR v3 this weekend. First off, the smell... it smells so good compared to the v2 I had. Secondly, it looks great after drying. Almost like there is a hint of OID in it. It felt very slick while drying, but the final slickness for me was about 25% better than the v2. Its better but you certainly won't mistake it for OID or FK425. Also the grime appears to stay in suspension vs sticking to the media or edges of the wash bucket. I did notice v3 seems to get cloudy as it gets dirtier vs v1/v2 which just got darker.

No, I was running out of time, had an hour in between things to wash two cars. I got OCW on one and left the other as it was.

I tried some ONR V3 this weekend (helped my buddy wash his jeep). He did the washing part and I dried. I didn't get a feel for the washing slickness, but drying felt slicker than V2 and the finish felt slicker to the touch. I mixed up a QD solution and gave that a try, too (just quickly on glass). I think it worked a little better than V2, but I wasn't super impressed. It didn't flash-off any better than V2. In my brief experience, it still feels more so like spreading water around than a traditional QD. It also didn't feel as slick as a QD.

As I've stated on another thread, if you don't do a final buff with a soft MF you're not getting the most out of ONR, esp v3. You're really selling yourself short.

Just stick with products sold by manufacturers like 3D, Optimum, 1Z, Menzerna, 4Star and Meguiars and skip the ones that places like AutoGeek offers as inhouse brands like DP, Blackfire, Wolfgang, XMT, Pinnacle and Ultima.

Amen to that!

I dunno.. some stuff from BlackFire, Pinnacle, and Ultima don't seem to have direct equivalents in other product lines

I'm not a fan-boy for those lines, and I use stuff from the six you like, but being all about *results* there are some BF/Pinnacle/Ultima stuff that I wouldn't want to be without as nothing else is quite the same IME.

Ultima is a brand of Premium Finish Care/Four Star and I thought was something David B. was involved in developing/marketing. They have some unique products.

Ah, I knew about David's involvement (hey, I'm *NOT* a hater of David B. :grinno: ), but I didn't know about the tie-in with 4-Star.

He had ties with Rick Vaal (is it?) of 4 Star as far back as several years ago I recall him discussing.

Ok, I did another wash with a dry buff. I absolutely agree that it makes a significant difference in clarity. I'm not sure I see a place in my regimen though. I prefer to spritz each panel with a QD rather than dry buffing.

I used Duragloss 931 and UWW on two separate vehicles this week with good results.

I was going to put down another coat of Duragloss 601/105 on my daily driver HHR this week while on vacation. However, I decided to see how much 931 boosted the water beading and the appearance of the 105. I applied the 601/105 in July with only a couple of handwashes and one touchless rinse since then. The beading seemed to be about done, but we've had a pretty decent amount of rain the past 3 months. The DG 931 left a VERY nice shine and gloss as always, and the water beading had improved as well. It looks really good for white! I haven't decided if I will go for another coat of 105/601 yet. I may try the 931 topped with AW before I do so,and I would like to use the UWW on my HHR also.

I used UWW as a rinseless on my wife's Liquid Red G8 for the first time this week also. I had been using the DG 931 topped with AW with outstanding results. The 931/AW combo looked amazing with tons of depth, wetness, and gloss. The UWW might've made the finish look even better without any topper. We're talking some serious gloss and wetness!

Both products are awesome for sure. I'm still going to give ONR a shot despite how much I like these two products

I'm using the Duragloss and ONR Rinseless. The ONR smell makes me nauseas after a while, so Duragloss wins there. I think they are both great, hat to pick a winner.

Mr. Fermani,

Sorry for the late reply. I look forward to seeing you at SEMA next week and perhaps in Memphis in the near future. I also wanted to thank you for the invitation to the party but unfortunately I am tied up that evening. If we get through our meeting early, I will definitely stop by. Thanks again.
