Do they actually hear themselves?

Lastly is the mentality of using a gun for protection. This frankly sickens me as clearly the person purchasing the gun for protection is premeditating using the gun on another human being if they can justify it (mentally that's not a good thing - buying a weapon planning to use it on another human should not be the norm). It's a poor reason to buy a gun and I think those people should not take the law into their own hands. It also leads to having to find an excuse to use the gun because they own it now. If it were up to me anyone buying a gun for protection should be reported as they've already shown intent to use a deadly weapon against another human being.

I'm betting the preacher's pregnant wife in Indiana who was recently raped and murdered would completely disagree with you if she were still alive

I'm also willing to bet my life that an overwhelming majority of gun owners (law abiding that is....not including gang bangers here) hope to God they never have to use their firearm against another human being

If I were allowed to get a CC license (very hard in NY) and I was on site when one of these turkeys started doing what they did in California I would only hope that I would have been able to stop it-or at least, minimize the loss of human life.

My issue is, so here I am a good Samaritan trying to help and the police roll up on the scene and here I am firing away, how to you not get shot? They are human too.

The other larger issue is, how do you live with yourself if you miss the bad guy and that bullet keeps going and hits a innocent by stander. And don't say practice, if I owned I would-I am good at anything that I need to be, and if I owned I would be practiced until I was proficient-its my nature. I have fired a real gun before and its nothing like the movies, plus add stress and adrenaline and its really not an easy feat. I go both ways on if an armed public is better or worse.

My good Friend,

Unfortunately, it IS only Practice - all the time, so it has become a reflex to you when your eyes see and your brain tells you - that looks like some ya-hoo coming through the door with an Kalashnikov, that you (because you have already settled this in your deepest part of your heart and soul), have only a tiny moment in time to quickly get it out and make a very accurate head shot or chest shot with a round capable of stopping that person in his/her tracks.

And if one does not make that micro-second choice in time, the wall of hot lead from that AK is going to neutralize everything it is pointed at until it runs out of rounds..

You would not worry at that moment about collateral damage if any, but think about the amount of damage and death that could be prevented if one is ready and willing to sacrifice your life to save others..

You will be able to live with yourself if you survive the evil bad people today... All of our Dad's, Uncles, and Grandfather's did this without all the treatment available today.. These were really, really, good, strong, Men...
It was not easy, there were lots of bad dreams, nightmares, etc., that followed some to the end, but they did it because they wanted to help complete the bigger picture in their hearts and minds..

If the Police roll up and see you a citizen under fire, I am sure they will be able to quickly determine that the source of fire is the problem and not shoot you in the process... We all have to have faith that they will do their part correctly as well..

Remembering the Wild West for example, I am sure no one came up and said " drop that .44, Uncle Milty", it was more like whoever had the biggest gun and drew first and fired accurately won the battle, argument, etc...

Lucky for us, because so many of these bad people are not very well trained, there is time to do what needs to be done, but it has to be done quickly and accurately...

No time to reason with them, no time to ask/tell/yell/etc., if they stop and just stand there and have to find another magazine, well, that is open season to fire down on them Now...

Yes, the adrenaline makes it harder, just ask anyone who is in police work, but it can be very good for you too if you know how to use it...

Yeah, I know, gonna have to practice some more... :)

It appears that no one in that conference room was carrying, but not all the facts are out yet, and it is just too bad...
It is also just too bad that a neighbor next door to those people noticed their activity and chose not to report for fear of being racist, or something... :(

I like the idea of being prepared, if someone has the mind set to break into MY HOUSE, in all honesty NO one can predict what an intruder will do, especially when confronted. A gun gives you control to dictate the outcome.

I think you have been in Canada for too long. I'm not saying that is a bad thing as I would love to travel around Canada some day but you have to remember who your neighbors are. You guys are lucky enough to have us
but look who we have to the south of us. Get rid of guns in the U.S. and the cartel will be bringing more in as fast as the government could take them away. Also we have Americans that think it is wrong to build a wall to protect our borders. Think of who the threat is nowadays and who they hate the most. I'm not saying it is easy to cross the border but plenty of people have done it so what is to stop terror from coming across the border now? I think we all need to be prepared here in the states. I welcome you to look up my local crime rates as well. I live not only in San Bernardino County but in the City of San Bernardino and after you do please tell me I have nothing to be worried about.

If someone is willing to forcibly enter a house knowing there are people inside they obviously have no good intentions and are an immediate threat.

There was a time when Gun Control really did work for everyone but the bad people who think nothing of breaking laws, and never gave it an afterthought...

Unfortunately, it appears that today, taking guns away from law abiding people is the happiest day for the same bad people who will now take more risks in using theirs on the very people who obey the laws..

I am all for gun safety and of course not allowing nut jobs to have one in the first place, etc., but because the world has changed now as it has and the laws are somehow swung all the way over to the other side so much, if the citizenry is not armed, well, we might as well just line up for the jihadists to mow us all down.. Its as simple as that...

It would be so much easier to go nuke the crap out them once and for all, and be done with this for a few decades or whatever it takes for them to come back again...
They are the utmost cowardly, bullying, haters of womanhood, evil people around !!! In the name of their religion???? Really???? You cant fix this with politics, jobs, climate change, anything...

Ok, I have to go outside and chop down a tree or something...

Just in case you don't look it up here is the activity in my area in just the past 6 days. Keep in mind not everything gets posted and not everyone gets caught. Of course I am working hard to try to get out of the area but not everyone can pack up and move very easily nowadays. Also all this is coming from someone who has had there house robbed. Luckily no one was inside when it happened but it does make you feel vulnerable. Police don't tend to prevent crime. They usually report after the crime has been committed........

I'd venture to guess there would be far more lives saved on a yearly basis by simply punishing gang bangers to the fullest extent of the laws we already have and keeping them locked up

Nah. They are a victim of circumstance. That being the case, lets just release all the drug dealers.

Ropes are cheap and could be used multiple times. No free meals, beds, clothing etc. to spend tax dollars on. Then they could take all that savings and put it where it may do some good.
