Zymöl Vintage... what do you charge?

I do find it absoultly halraious that you get to hand down this wax per some agreement with Zymol (can you imagine that at the reading of the will.... Umm wax?? I get wax for my inheritence?? WT bloody F!?!?!?!?!!!!!) I would never consider wax as some sort of family herlium or anything. Glad Zymol thinks it's really that important.

Zymol is attempting to appeal to unexpressed desire of the nouveau riche, to have family heirlooms/property held in trust (like old money) to pass down to thier grateful children. Patek Phillipe does essentially the same thing in its marketing of overpriced swiss watches.

"You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely take care of it for the next generation."

Becomes

"You never actually own Zymol Vintage. You merely take care of it for the next generation."

An vain attempt to achive immortality through material possesions, and exploit subtle fears of non-existance after death and failure to leave a worthwhile legacy to future generations.

I think that there is no feasible reason to pay the kind of money people pay for Zymol waxes. There is no way its protection, depth and shine exceeds that of other products to the point that I would be willing to pay 100x more for it.

ZYMOL ATLANTIQUE GLAZE 8 oz

I bought a 12oz tin of Meguiar's Gold Class for around $12 including tax.

$1,358(+shipping) vs. ~$12. Sorry, but I'm not paying ~170 times more for a product that I don't believe will produce a better shine.

That has to be the most hilarious thing I've read in weeks. LoL, I didn't buy my Vintage as "...vain attempt to achieve immortality". I didn't even know it was inheritable until another Vintage owner told me after I bought it.

Your statement is very insulting, and unjustified.

Are there any comparison photos out there that show the look of ZV on a car? Say maybe one car with ZV and one with a different LSP?

Well said SuperBee. Totally agree !!!! Applied a coat today by hand. I don't regret buying mine either!!! Looks great!! They know me very well at Zymol !!! It is nice to know the facts. Nuff said!!!!!!!

There are several of us that have (for the most part) been hiding in the background, not offering our experiences/opinions for fear of furthering the flame war. Well, I can't stand it any more. :) I'm going to say the following things, and you guys are welcome to discuss it and flame it til you're blue in the face. I'm not gonna respond or say anything more than the following...

Vintage *is* really good wax. It looks phenomenal. It has the very best environmental protection of *any* LSP I've ever used, be it wax or sealant. It is by *far* the easiest-to-clean LSP I've ever used. And for those of you that follow my car washing theories, you know how much weight I put on that particular quality. Vintage's durability isn't the best, but it is certainly not bad at all when compared to other carnauba-based LSP's. The cost per tub will average out to 78 bucks each over my life time, which is reasonable for a high-end carnauba. I get to bequeathe the refill rights to an heir, who will also get refill rights for life.

I do not regret buying Vintage one bit.

And watching Vintage bead and repel water (which it does better than any other LSP I've seen) is a fun past time, too.

Vintage is right for some, wrong for others. Does it *really* need to be more complicated than that?

I don't have any kids! How will I remain immortal when I can't will my Vintage to someone!?

Want to adopt me? That way you can will it to me and I can try it out just to see if it is worthy of the hype it is getting.

You would have to move to Canada. In Kommunist Kanada carnuaba wax owns you.

I can't remember the last thread that had almost 130 responses with only ~2000 views.

Someone should start a thread on how much should you tip when having your car detailed. (And if you should tip extra, after paying the upcharge for Zymol Vintage)

Look how far this thread has moved from the orginal question................

The question was answered, the OP should charge $100 extra for applying Zymol Vintage, and should look into becoming a licensed Zymol Detailer, since Zymol will decline to offer lifetime Vintage refills for professional users.

The concensus is that if the OP is able to find enough people with money, who are vulnerable to Zymol's marketing message(s)/appeals to social status (Ralph Lauren uses it, you should too!! :spot) then he may be able to recoup his investment and turn a profit.

If not...

You're right. I can see him drinking some of Zymol's Bravura wine and mixing up a strong batch of 79% Solaris. Kinda like a priest at communion.

If a car is fully polished and corrected its going to look great no matter what you put on the paint. I know its a marketing scheme but polishes are what make the $$ for me.
