I know people always portrayed this place as unbiased but when you give bias to sponsors it's sort of contradicting.



"To offer added support to our Sponsors, we would ask that you refrain from overly recommending non-Sponsor businesses, products, or services that are in direct competition to our Sponsors in your thread replies. If you wish to offer another source to our Members, please use the PM option to give the information to a members in a private manner. "
 
If it is true that Autopia has been sold than I would imagine DavidB is more than likely NOT allowed to talk about it but I am frankly surprised the "new owners" have not.



Silence is NOT the best way to start a new era for Autopia. I sense a mass exodus on the horizon.



Again, if it is true that Autopia has been sold and if silence is all we get from the new owners than I will no longer be sending people here for help. Personally I will probably be headed back to Meguiars Online, at least you know who is behind the site.
 
If this forum is now sponsor owned, its a wrap unless the moderators let the opinions fly regardless if they sell the products spoken about or not.





Whats the flavor of the month of forums these days? I dont know of any other detailing only forums where the (select) info is as good.



On the other hand, I have work posted on many forums, Autopia and one other are the only two that generate any interest from car owners.







I guess the only remaining outlets are:



-Sponsor the detailing section of a forum you like

-Start your own board

-Let a product reseller edit your opinions

True but there have been post where people admitted to being afraid to talk about anything not sponsored on the forums. I think there was even a poll on it.

Then maybe it's a good thing that the new owners remain anonymous, then we won't know what not to talk about!
 
It kinda just seems like everyone is jumping to conclusions, I haven't heard or read anything about all of this stuff happening OFFICIALLY, just a bunch of people posting why they are going to leave autopia. WE ARE Autopia! if we keep things going like we always do, with honest reviews and product testing, and write-ups then that's how it will stay! yeah we need moderators for all the goobers that try to break all the big rules and regulations, but I dont see anyone going through write-ups and review that people make, and editing the posts and review and thoughts on the products that that person used, just because the Sponsors product didn't have a positive review! It just seems like everyone is getting there pantys in all in a wad for nothing.

Personally there are people in this industry I'd never support is all. and if they owned this forum I'd stop supporting it. We may never know who owns it now though. But I'd also not support a forum that hid who they really are.

What about this one big family of detail loving and car loving community that we have here! I dont know what I would do if everyone left. Autopia is a place that I goto to get away. I see all of you guys that I learn from and as a BIG Family! There isn't to many places that autopians fit in at! We all have to stick together! :sadwavey:





Just because America gets a new president that we dont like, doesn't mean you have to quit suporting America, and leave to go live in a new country?

I don't think you can compare a site to a country. LOL We really don't get a vote here.
 
This is bizarre. Why hasn't the sale of Autopia been announced before now? Why has the new owner not been identified? Why is he keeping silent? Who is the man behind the curtain? Will the real Mr. Autopia please stand up. :)
 
Why don't we all wait till an official announcement is made before jumping to conclusions. It really makes me laugh when people threaten to leave without even knowing the full story.
