Where's DavidB

Looks like it is 3D Products...

looks like this came from DavidB's resume... link

BRAND CONSULTANT, MAY – NOV 2009, 3D International LLC, Santa Clarita, California

Client acquired AUTOPIA.ORG community as part of a long-term strategy to transition from manufacture and distributor of products for professional car detailers, to manufacturer and direct-to-consumer distributor of car care products for consumers. 3D International retained me to create an eco-friendly car care brand for the car enthusiast market (see hdcarcare.com). Selected accomplishments:

  • Launched a unique line of 17 car care products, from concept to selling, in 121 days!
  • New brand is 66% more efficient (lower carbon footprint) than any other brand on the market.
  • Worked with design agency to create brand image, packaging design, and web design.
  • Developed website on Yahoo Store platform.
  • Created product copy, use instructions and beauty shots.
  • Integrated complete back-end processing system for automated picking, packing and shipping of web orders.
  • Achieved Google page rank of 2 in less than 180 days.
  • Achieved 30% more in sales in second month than forecasted.
  • Documented all systems, processes and procedures and trained staff to manage.

Quite frankly this isn't surprising. Something happened with autopiastore.com that either DB quit, sold or was forced out. The history of this site seemed to be a new product launch every two years that seemed to fall short of the hype. The number of members banned here through the years has led to a serious erosion of legitimacy for this site. Hopefully the new owners will allow freedom of opinion and restore the status of this site and possible inivite some of those long time members back.

Let me throw in my 2 cents. I really dont care who ownes Autopia, It is the people who post that make it what it is today. When I bought companies years ago, once the contract was signed you were not allowed to contact any person from your old company.MAYBE this was in his contract so he stepped back and followed the rules of the contract. All and all I wish him well (love to know how much money he got)

and we can leave it at that

Hi Bob and Scott!

Man time goes by fast...

Remember the GTG we organized and both of you flew out to Irvine for a Detail Day at Meguiar's I have a picture of you Bob riding Bumpers cars on the Boardwalk and Scott you brought your inline skates and after putting them on you were gone! Good times! What year was that?

That was a lot of fun and I've counted both of you as friends ever since.

Regardless who owns Autopia, nothing has changed lately and that is a good thing for the most part.

Mike, some think it is Autogeek. Can you give some answers about that?

I remember the good old days when The Chemist, Forrest from Mothers and Mike Phillips could post information and answer questions without someone shaking the money tree.

Autopia Members:

We are proud to announce that 3D International has purchased Autopia. Since, the site’s inception, DavidB worked hard to create a forum for car enthusiasts worldwide. We are excited to continue the site, and Autopia LLC will function as a separate entity with its own goals and views.

Autopia is a fair and unbiased place for auto detailing professionals and enthusiasts to discuss all topics concerning car care. We do not wish to change what makes Autopia a great place for making friends, trading expertise and sharing knowledge.

We appreciate all the work the Moderators have put into the forums and we pledge to keep Autopia the same unbiased, pleasant environment that users have come to enjoy. We will continue to defer to and use the Moderator’s best judgment regarding standards for conduct on the site.

The rules for the site will remain the same. Members are free to discuss any car care product including 3D and competitors. We believe in respectful free speech and we welcome you to leave your comments, both good and bad.

We are excited to be able to continue to provide a home on the web for car care enthusiasts. If you have any concerns about the Autopia forums please contact us at customerservice@autopia.org and we will be glad to respond to any questions.

Thank you for you time, and the opportunity to take Autopia into the next decade.

Sincerely,

Autopia, LLC

And there you have it. You may now climb down off your office chairs and roof tops. The sun will rise in the morning, somewhere. ;)

3D is a Chinese based conglomerate seeking to gain market shares in cricket ranching.

So chalk up another part of great America being owned by China......but I must admit that szechuan cricket fajitas is very tasty:spot

(Oh, Elvis and TuPac are still alive. They are mailmen in Greenland)

2004, I believe. I had a blast out there and learned a lot more than I expected in the class you and Mike Pennington put on for us. The Autopia meet the last day was icing on the cake.

I still skate every once in a while but now since I got back into road bikes, I mostly ride now-3312 miles last year in fact. :)

I consider you a friend as well Mike, nice that we still keep in touch.

Ok, so its HD. Before that, Autogeek, DI, Adams, and other sponsors paid David money... At least it wasn't bought by Jeff Silver :nervous:

I thought 3D was based in Florida but had the wrong company. I wonder if they private label for anyone.
