What vehicle are you thinkng about buying and why?

I'm thinking about buying an Acura RSX. It's sporty, affordable, and reliable. My friend has one and its so fun.

2000 Honda Civic EX. I start college in the fall, so I'll need something different to get around in. 16mpg isn't cutting it for me (E39 528i (auto), city driving).

In this economy, I'm not thinking of buying anything unfortunatly. I just piad off the car I bought in Feb, so I just need to keep both my cars for a while and enjoy no monthly car payments

Hm. Possibly a 2000-2001 Sentra SE w/ performance package (5 speed) or a Protege ES for a similar price.

Good choice there. :xyxthumbs That's been my daily driver for the last 7.5 years and it's been great.

I'm actually at that point of being in the mid-30s and ready to buy a nicer car and will be shopping for a new DD.

My shortlist right now looks like this:

Infiniti G35 Sport M6 sedan

BMW 328i or 335i sedan

Subaru Legacy GT or Spec-B sedan

Audi A4 Quattro

I'd put Mazdaspeed6 on my list as well, as others have mentioned, however I have several friends here that are in tight with the Mazda community and seem to think there won't be a speed version of the new '6', due to very disappointing sales on the outgoing model.

My top choice at the moment has been flip-flopping between the G and th 3-series.

I will not be cross-shopping the CTS as I just cannot support GM in any capacity. And I doubt I'll bother looking at the Lexus IS250/350 either.

Oh and the new GTR... looks like poo, IMO. And that's coming from a long-time Nissan guy! For the kind of money, especially with the rumored dealer markups, I think I'd rather buy a 911, even if it is technically slower.

those are nice, it's too bad they stopped making them (i <3 honda). the SI and RSX were pretty comparable, but i would of taken the RSX if i had to choose between the two. hopefully, you find a nice used one...

2002-2003 Maxima 6 speed. A family friend of mine bought it new, and I will pick it up from him in the next year or so.

My Oldsmobile books for so little (and gives me such few problems), it isn't worth getting rid of. It will just be my second car.

Let's see. I normally buy used because I like other people to eat the depreciation first. Just have to keep an eye out for one that's been taken care of.

My shortlist would be a Nissan Altima or Maxima (not sure if I can go back to FWD), an E36 M3/4 (though those are getting harder to find, a G35, or a CTS-V. But with gas prices going the way they are, that last one may be not as likely.

I guess I might do a 330i zhp if I could find one reasonably priced. I just don't like the larger dimensions/additional weight of the e46 though.

To be quite honest, I'm still really pleased with my 328i and can't see pushing it out to pasture anytime soon. I figure the best deal in a new car is to put off buying one as long as you can if not completely.

Looking at a 3-series Coupe! Such a good looking vehicle, and a second hand one can be picked up on the cheap these days...

I don't need anything, but my Z4M has become a bit tiresome as a daily driver.

I went and drove some Audi A8s last weekend and really enjoyed them. Considering a 2006 model, long wheelbase.

Just picked up a 1987 Mercedes Benz 560 SL. Low mileage garage queen. I plan on using her as a toy for the summer.

With two kids (and their friends) and all the traveling that we do, we just replaced our '00 Honda Odyssey with a '08 Odyssey. Even though we barely paid more than we did for the last one we got sooooo much more with this one. It's just in time for our big annual road trip in a couple weeks.:)

I need another vehicle like a hole in the head, but I still keep toying with various ideas :o

simracer- Yeah, I suspect my wife would say that the best deal on a car is often... not buying one :chuckle:

No secret here that I'm a real A8/S8 fanatic...I'm a short-wheelbase/old-style grill guy myself, but yeah..that's a nice car. Just make sure you have a *GOOD* Audi mechanic, you'll probaly need him at some point.

I plan on getting a new vehicle sometime in the next 6 months to make more room for our expected baby so I am looking at either a used Grand Prix GXP or a new HHR SS.

Yeah, the maintenance costs seem a bit scary. I'm shooting for something with LOTS of warranty left. If I find the right one, I'll probably jump on it in the next 6 months or so.

The Chevrolet Volt. The car that will save GM.

The plug in car with a 40 mile battery, but also has a gas generator for additional 350+ miles.

If you have less than a 20 mile commute, you no longer pay for gas.
