I have:

Two 7424s. One is 5 yrs old and still works fine. The other is newer and has a 4" pad setup. As noted above, a 4" orange LC pad/M105 will get out just about anything.

One XPPC that I have used for the last 6 months. Not a bad machine, but IMO only a slight inprovement over the 7424.

One G110 v2- I have only done 3 full corrections with it, but I used it for a 13 hour polishing marathon yesterday. I use it on speed 5 to do what I used the XPPC on speed 6. So far I am in love.

Makita 9227-Pad spinning dry machine #1. :) A must have for your rotary collection.

Flex 3403- Pad spinning dry machine #2. ;) Nice and lighweight rotary. Can overheat when using large foam pads on "sticky/soft" paint.

Sold:

Flex 3401: Not my cup of tea when using the KBM. I found it hard to apply pressure with it.

Metabo PE 12-175-The finest machine that I have ever used. Will also overheat with larger foam pads. No trigger.

Hitachi SP18VA 5 yr warranty and I needed to get the trigger assy replaced a few times.

Bryan... Do you find the G110v2 to have significantly more power and torque under pressure than the PC7424XP?

It's the one question that no one had answered directly in a head-to-head comparison.

(sent you PM also)

Bill, "I" think so, but maybe others will not. (disclaimer:D )

v2 at speed 5 on a flat surface, I think the v2 will maintain better with pressure. I guess I need to try and do a side by side to be sure. Just need a car to detail at the house where I am not trying to get it done quickly.

Well, a lot of folks "claim" the V2 has much more power/torque than the XP, but I haven't seen a side-by-side comparison. Therefore there is no proof.
I'd really like to see a test on two sides of the same hood. Same product, same pads, same pressure, same exact working time, and the results compared. Ok, side "B" needs another 15 minutes with the XP... something like that.

If the results show a 25-30% improvement in working time, I'll buy one.

BTW... I'm not asking you to do this!:)

Bill, no way you are gonna get a 25% improvement on working time. Same way there is no improvement in working time from the 7424 to the XPPC.

I can tell you for sure that after the 13 hours of fun yesterday, I have no tingling in my hands today. That is well worth the $150 for me.

OK, so you're saying the big issue (for you) is less vibration.

Makita rotary.

Although I recently bought a Hitachi rotary from PAC and have been using that almost all the time lately, great machine... so far. I figured with the 5 year warranty if it dies on me I can get a replacement.

I use the rotary for first and last steps and a Flex in between... to clean up any compounding haze/holograms left over from the rotary/wool combo if that was the first step.
I use the Flex with Megs 205 and a white or grey pad almost all the time, works like a charm and it makes for quick work.
For the 3rd step jeweling/burnishing (I call it the "bling" step) I use a rotary and do things exactly per Todd's instructions in the "Shine Institute."

I've got a couple PC's for doing plastic bumpers and tight spots, I keep a 5" (I like 5.5" pads on a PC) plate on one and a 3.5" plate on the other... also use 'em for applying sealant with a blue or red pad.

Q. How many power tools are enough?

A. Just one more!:Dancing Dot:

What POLISHER do you use most?

And why?

For me, PC7424XP... I use if for everything from heavy compounding to finish polishing... in combination with M105/205, it's a great machine!:Innocent:

Please wait one week before posting another poll to replace this one on the main page! Thanks....:w00t:

I am starting to lean that way in the PC direction.....I have been reading around and quite a few V-2 's are being sent back with problems.

I wasn't aware of any problems with the V2's.

I kind of bit my tonge after I posted that....I did read sum returns lately, but maybe sum PC's have been returned also....man has yet to make anything perfect....I really didnt intend to bash a product....I have read alot of good stuff about that polisher....crap, maybe the best thing is to have a couple machines..so if one goes belly up it aint the end of the world....Iam just looking at the first purchase....so I guess I am a little sensitive to comments around the web...and I realize too, that a good vendor will back his product...no offense meant at all ! :)

Bill,
does the P/C stall pretty easy with a little pressure....or is it a non issue in your humble opinion ?

I use my Meguiars G110v2 the most, followed by my Porter Cable 7336 (dedicated polisher for 4" pads). I also have a DeWalt Rotary and a Chinese clone of a Makita rotary branded as a Newkita
