Flex 3401: Not my cup of tea when using the KBM. I found it hard to apply pressure with it.
Do you mean you couldn't put the amount of pressure you would've like to because of unsatisfactory results(marring, etc..)? Or, it wasn't physically as easy as you would like to put pressure?

Bill,
does the P/C stall pretty easy with a little pressure....or is it a non issue in your humble opinion ?

Not the XP model. The 7424 would stall under fairly heavy pressure, but the XP is pretty strong.

The important thing is to put a dot or a line on the backing plate and keep it rotating.

Am a novice enthusiast with a 7424 have used for several years...Have been thrilled w/105 as the machine can now really correct....Thinking of dedicating this one to 4", so am very interested in this thread

tlc0706... Welcome to TID! That's exactly what I did. The old trusty 7424 is now my "4-inch machine" and the 7424XP is my full time polisher. I always have the 7424 as a backup if needed.:cornut:

I prefer to use the Makita 9227 most of the time. I keep the PC handy with a 4 inch for tight areas. I have an old PC and I have a love/hate relationship with it. I hate it because it is slow, vibrates, and really has no real handle. I love it because it is just so versatile.

Hi Everyone!

Hi,

I have heard some good talk about this website so I have been cruising for a while as a guest just checking it out.

Anyhow, I have just actually joined and hope to contribute something useful to the community :)

I hope that "New Member Introductions" is the right forum place to post this introduction in, if not, please let me know..

Best wishes

I have my trusty old PC7424 that I have been using for years, and luv it  Recently I have been using the Makita 9227 rotary and am getting used to it. I have only used the rotary to jewel so far.

Until last summer I've been hand polishing/waxing my boats & cars for over 30 years. So as I?ve gotten older, I began thinking about how to make this an easier process. I first learned about Machine Polishers while searching on a boating web site. They recommended a Machine Polisher by Shurhold. I decided to give it a try. It came with a bag, side handle, ?D? handle, spare brushes, and backing plate. Also, it has a 20 ft power cord and GFCI protection on the plug end. I?ve been pleased with the performance. I came across PAC?s site while searching for additional pads. I?ve learned a lot from this site since last summer and will continue to learn from the pro?s on the forum. Thanks to all for sharing their knowledge.

I have a PC, PCXP, FLEX3401, Dewalt 849, and Makita 9227c.

I voted for the PCXP simply because it's a great all around too and I find myself using it more and more each day. My rotary will always be right there too though. ;)

Interesting. With both having a DA motion, why do you use your PCXP more than the 3401?

Who Viewed the Award show Last Night??

I just now finished up watching the Reruns, and it was good! The actual performances were so much fun. Sandra Bullock totally was the best ! :D

I have a Makita rotary, Porter Cable 7424 and an old GEM random orbital.

My go to polisher is the 7424 and I use the Kevin Brown method.

Definitely the most popular choice! Over 100 votes now and the PC is in the lead with almost half the votes!

Bill ,
I will give you a head to head comparison when I get guts enough to try them,I told wifey last night I am going to polish her work ride....she gave me one of those "IL KILL YOU LOOKS' and said if you screw up my car I will kick your blank.I have laid the ground work.....I will post sum pics here pretty soon.
