washing with ONR

ok, so i know this will be the millionth thread... but here goes.

how many buckets do you guys go through of wash water when washing a midsize p/u truck ? seems as though even when i use 2 different rinse buckets, by the end of the wash my drying towel leaves white / gray streaks.....is it because i'm washing a salt crusted vehicle ?

i use ONR in a spray bottle to pre treat most areas. 1 rinse bucket for an initial rinse and a 2nd rinse bucket for the " final dry "

let me know if i am doing something wrong fellas.:woot:

With my family's van, I used only 3 gallons of water with 2 buckets on both. 2 gallons with ONR (wash) and 1 gallon with ONR (rinse to release contaminates). You should be fine that much

Maybe your drying towel is contaminated with residue. Try using a different towel.

On my cars, I usually use 3gal, 1 bucket method. it leaves with me maybe 3/4 of a gal left (for wheels, etc...)

I use ONR in a NOMAD washer. Don't bother rinsing the media, just switch to a new one when both sides are dirty. Only use .5 gallon on a Nissan Altima including rinsing the wheels.

integritydetail.. How does that work? You hose a section with the Nomad and then just wash it with the mitt?

The NOMAD can spray a very fine mist or a stream (fully adjustable). I just wet a panel (hose in one hand), wash with dampened mitt till clean (add more ONR if needed), then dry as usual. Sure I use more towels, but I have very thick pile shagrags and only use about 3-4 per car. Another bonuse is that I can spray regular wheel cleaner on the rims with this technique because I can rinse. I have never marred with ONR the old way, but I think there is less chance this way because all the solution that hits the car is fresh.

hose is not available when it is 30 degrees.... so the "nomad" wouldnt work for me....

maybe in the summer time........

The nomad is self contained. You do not need a hose, it consists of a tank (3.5 gallons), an internal pump (provides about 40-60 psi), a power cord (lighter plug 12v), and a kink free hose (20ft with sprayer).

I end up with less on the garage floor with this method and I use my jump start power pack to run it instead of pluging it into the car or the wall. I have stored the ONR in it when not in use with no noticeable decline in performance to the Nomad or the wash solution.

To start remove the cap, attach the hose (without the sprayer) and aim into the tank, run for 20 sec to purge aur from the line, attach the sprayer and go to work.

that sounds pretty nifty........may have to look into one for the future

Most autopian's purchased the Nomad based on a thread started by DavidB. Some good info in there with reference to where to buy and how to power the unit.

Here's an online retailer's mentioned in that thread. The other retailer (Kotula's) has since sold out.

I am letting everyone know that is guy is a troll. I have been trying to sell stuff in the good deals section and every time I post a thread he gets in there and posts harassing messages. Any clients or potential clients of this guy needs to watch out, he is not a nice guy and I would not recommend him for anything by his behavior displayed on this board.

Did all the mods take an Christmas break, I've been reporting this guy for days:nono

@ integritydetail, what jump starter are you using? How long can you run the Nomad at full strength before it kills the battery?

I think the nomad is pretty cool. However, don't people mar their paint by not cleaning the mitt off? I would think that would be the big issue not using a bucket.

i would use the nomad as a pre soaker as opposed to spray bottles and still use a bucket.

can the nomad be used like a foaming gun ?

^ That's what I was thinking. It guess it all depends on the sprayer attachment piece. Also, I wonder if it even produces enough pressure to foam.
