Wash Mitts- Microfiber or 100% Sheepskin Which of the two are better for washing i need to know before i place my order and at minimun/spelling how many do you use or have on hand? Thanks to all who apply

Look at my avatar for the answer :gathering
Sheepskin mitt releases dirt, leaves etc 'willingly'..you ain't gonna get that with synthetic mitts or mf mitts without a fight.

Get yourself 2 sheepkin mitts, use them alternately and they'll last a long long time. I recently tried a sheepkin shampoo on my 1 year old SM Arnold mitt I got from PAC, brought it back to life and it feels softer and fluffier now!! fantastic...How many do I have on hand?ummmm 8 or 9 :shifty:

yep your avatar say's it all, sheepskin it is chee. Thanks

P.S. lucky for us no animal rights people follow the board lol.

Got this info from where I last purchased my mitts. :detective
Please note that the sheep that make our products come primarily from herds raised for their food value rather than their hides. Sheepskin is a recycled byproduct and no endangered species skins are used in our products.

So I guess we'll keep the animal rights peeps at bay (for now) :phone2:

Synthetic is better for washing, which is why it destroys your paint. It traps dirt more than sheepskin.
I love sheepskin-wool with a slick shampoo and slightly warm water.

Chee you kill me. Happy Hoildays to you and your Family

Whats up pei ? haven't seen you posting as much. i bet the lil one is exicted about x-mas . Happy Holidays to you and your Family :santa: :present: :present: :present:

Whaddya know Joe?
My little boy is 1 last week, and likes the wrapping more than the gifts.
I just picked up a gig teaching at the local university for winter semester so every daylight moment I'm not detailing I'm doing research to get the class ready.

What do you guys do to dry your sheep mitts? Mine will stay wet for days after washing.

Just keep them inside out until you're ready to use them again. You just throw them in the wash bucket (or rinse them a bit for you foam gunners) and they become pliable and soft again.

Mine get hung from a 3/4" wood dowel with the cuff down. The dowel holds the mitt open for some air circulation and a day or so seems to be all that is needed for drying. Never actually checked. That's the Eurow sheepskin mitt from Wal*Mart.

I always turn them inside out and put them in the dryer. They last much longer than letting them dry on their own. Whenever I have let them dry on their own they fall apart very quickly. I'm lucky to get a month out of them. When I dry them in a dryer I get a year easily out of them. The longer they stay wet the more they seem to rot.

After a year of poor availability and even poorer softness, the good, plush Eurows are finally back at my local Wal-Mart. ( Interestingly, about one year ago exactly was my last stock up-got 6 then ). Even at that though, I rejected all but 2 of the 10 mitts on the shelf. Remember, pick 'em like fruit :D It seems like one good thing about winter is that the local sheepskin mitts are plush this time of year.

Yes, do dry them inside out and they will provide you pretty decent longevity.

what would be a good price for the 100% sheepskin mitt? and if the tag on the mitt say's 100% sheepskin are all the mitts the same/equal.

They range anywhere from $5 to around $20. I pick the most plush $5 ones, not being afraid to not buy any at all if they're not plush enough, and I am very satisfied.

I guess the best price would be the cheapest you can get, $5 if I'm not mistaken for the vroom ones. I prefer the ones without the thumb and hence cheapest I could find $8+ .

The ones from sheepskin dot com, has polyester stuffing and acrylic backing = won't be hard as a rock when they dry . I have silver and golden coloured mitts from them, the silver ones are thicker and plusher, the golden ones are really soft, really really soft, I have only used the silver colour one (you can see it in action in Norah's foam gun post), kinda reluctant to use the golden mitts :drool :gathering

i went on line looking to buy some sheepskin mitts and they all priced out from $12.50 to $20.00 bucks. the vroom mitts keep coming up and most mitts shown have the thumb hardly any sq mitts.

Joe,
after reading this thread about sheepskin, I went to Walmart and bought the 100 % sheepskin mitt for 5 bucks, a fireman nozzle for 5 bucks. they have the cheapest in otc products.
