Actually, give me an '87 Grand National with the governor removed and a few tweaks by Duttweiler, an LT-4 Impala SS, or a 351 LX 5.0 made out of a SS4 Police Package Mustang.

Better yet, give me a F-150 Lightning or a Lingenfelter Tahoe. :D

Well this is my car the Contour SVT..

I didn't detail this car... he won't let ANYBODY touch it! (I don't know how the paint could be any more perfect!!!)

My friend told the painter he wanted the absolute perfect paint job and he was willing to pay for it.

9 months of body work and block sanding, Base coat, clear coat. 12 coats clear. Looks like a mirror!

If your interested, it also has a 455 bored to 30 over...its a BEAST! Sorry no engine pic...

Jeez, the paint job probably cost more than restoring the rest of the car :drool5:

Are those viewing windows cut into the hood???

That looks absolutely incredible. (Wish you had more pics to post...) Any idea how much a paint job like that costs?

I don't think I have more pics, but I can look in my files to check. I'll try to get some next time I see the car.

He told me the total car+restoration, including everything... he has $85k in it. The car is probably worth $50k... I'm guessing he's going to keep it.

wow. I wonder what the readings would be it you put a paint meter on it! Worth 50K and spent 85K reminds me of Florida realestate right now.

:rofl: Ain't that the truth. My folks bought right before everything dumped. They got a good deal on their place but not good enough.

I'm taking a guess based on numbers that I hear from car shows but I would say $25-$30,000 for 9 months of bodywork

Probably wasn't 9 months full time, but it took that long!

I really wish I had some better pictures. Seems like every time I see the car I don't have the camera. (I blame myself for that!!!)

Oh yeah, if he did full time for 9 months that would just rediculous! But I still think a black paintjob that is as smooth as that was well over 20K

That's why the body shop guy's first questions is always: "Is it going to be BLACK?"

Much more work involved in the prep for black.:scared:

Damn! Too bad new cars don't come from the facotry like that!

More paint isn't necessarily better though and 12 coats is a lot of clear....I hope he sanded down a lot of them or he may have some cracking issues in the future.
