Turtle Wax ICE

They certainly are crazy about ICE on the Yaris forum.

Yes there are. That's how I got exposed to the product. I found out about Autopia and I'm going to try some of the other products mentioned here.

The product when on like baby oil and the results are nothing short of spectacular. The paint is smooth as glass. I applied a second coat the next day just for ducks and bought a bottle of the detail spray for in-between touch up. I am mightily impressed with this product. As an aside, for my Volvo, I have always used Maguiars' products. Anyone else have experience with it? Thanks in advance.

Just curious, what color is your car?

It is silver. They call it meteorite grey. It has metal flake. Nice paint. It shines like crazy.

I was walking through a parking lot and saw a Yaris with that color and had to do a double-take. It looked outstanding with no orange-peel at all and the metal flake simply popped. I've seen cars costing 2 to 3 times more with far inferior factory paint jobs.

I have to say the paint looks spectacular for the price point. Pics are coming; I got hung up today and didn't get to them. As I said in this thread, I got started with ICE and ended up with a coat over the coats of Meguairs I laid down over the last week or so. It went on like baby oil and put a top shine that's really hard to beat. I understand the product and its good for what it does - nothing more.

I'm actually looking forward to trying out some of the other products. I haven't had this much fun since I bought my first car, a 1981 Turbo Volvo. I used Meguairs back then as well and it glistened. I still have the car but the paint has since deteriorated due to neglect more than anything else. I also have a 2001 S60 T5 Volvo and I just detailed it with Meguiars and its looking good. I'm now waiting for my PC to arrive this week so I can take it to the next level. It needs it.

This forum is great!!!

hmmm... i was just at wal-mart and noticed they have the paste version, and also the new ice car wash (a little pricey though, at around $7) and a few other things....

How big is that bottle of car wash you saw? I picked up a bottle at CostCo (haven't tried it yet). and it was $6.99 for a gallon.

Wow, too much turtle wax bashing in a single thread....

I haven't tried ICE myself, and I eventually will (I have too many LSPs) but TWP is incredible. Very shiny deep glossy look. All those who would "never put a turtle wax product on their paint" it is your loss after all....

OP, if you are happy, that is all that really matters :up

A bit off topic, but the TW Platinum QD works great, and is cheap. I wouldn't lump all their stuff into the "crap" pile.

I bought that on clearance to use on my clearcoated wheels (since ive been told to treat clearcoated wheels like clearcoated paint), I tried it on paint once, streaks like crazy and absolutely no slickness... Hence it is reserved for wheels only...

OTC I like NXT liquid and NXT spray wax, and NXT QD, I maintain my GF's car with these three products and they don't let me down.

I of course an more anal about durability without doing alot of work so I use higher end products on my ride plus the color is easily marred and shows defects, but biweekly washing her silver car, a coat of nxt liquid with the PC every three or four months, and a quick mist and wipe of the spray wax every other wash keeps her Altima looking the best at her work, lol, hey I like to make sure shes looking right, and us guys notice that thing. I also use the NXT spray way in my shower, scrub your walls real good, spray that on and wipe it around with a sponge then wipe it off...lol yeah no more soap scum sticking and its def blinging when you get in :)

I had earlier said that TW Ice Liquid polish was crap. I've since tried it a few more times, and in the right setting, its actually not too bad. It gives great shines to rubber and plastic, but you have to use it very sparingly. I also use it on a show car, for the cc'ed polished aluminum wheels, and it looks pretty good on them.

Since its major downfall is durability, could you Polycharge it?

Why bother? Why not buy a durable product to start with? Many exist.

Oh, vaild point for sure....

But when you have friends and family who know you buy alot of detail products but dont know which ones, then you end up like me, 5 unopened bottles of Ice liquid polish. And as I hate to throw away or not use product, I was think I could polycharge it and get some use out of it.

I've tried it a few times and like it. I'm not expecting anything spectactular but just a little extra "punch" to the shine when i don't feel like waxing. It does just that with no white residue or buffing. It spreads on quicker than water and wipes right off. Compared to a Quick detailer it feels super slippery and i can spread it much faster.

I use it on my Ferrari from time to time. Just did a 5 step buff and polish deal on my girlfriends car a few days ago and used ice today as a sort of waterless touch up. It brought the freshness right back to the look of the polish job in about 5 min.

It's good stuff.
