To Foam or Not to Foam???

That reminds me of my "dislodge and flush" approach to this stuff. I do find that I need to add some mechanical agitation (i.e., my Boar's Hair Brush) to get the dirt to break loose from the paint, but yeah....same general idea I think; get the dirt to run off the car rather than transferring the dirt to the wash medium.

Oh, hey, Welcome to Autopia!

shhhh! Don't make any sense man! Some people don't like that around here.

Exactly! I find it almost impossible to believe that a pre-soak is capable of dislodging and removing any significant level of soiling from the finish w/o some kind of friction, high heat or pressure.

Ultimately it doesn't matter Dave... we all know that. Each is going to do what they want because we feel like it either makes a difference or it doesn't. For me? Well I look at it like dishes. If they are dirty and have a build up on them... i'm going to add some soap to them and let them soak because most of the stuff we cook with obviously has oils that harden and make them harder to get clean without it. I also like the idea that the foam gets inbetween all of the areas that I can't see and don't know how much build up might be there. It makes me feel good. I foam the car... I let it sit... I wait 5-10 minutes and then I foam it one more time. I wash, use my rinse bucket spray out my GS just in case... spray a little more foam on the area that I am about to do and just do a panel at a time. Everyone has their opinion. What I find funny however is the "tree huggers" talking about soap run off, but at the same time using a pressure washer that either uses electric, or gas which pollutes the air. If you want to use that method hey, i'm all for it. Get a few bottles of distilled water, add some ONR and go to town!

What about the energy involved in getting the raw materials, making the soap then getting it to your hands. An electric pressure washer really doesn't use a whole lot of electricity and it uses MUCH less water than a hose wash.
