Tire dressings..

Kean- Thanks for the follow-up Re it being slippery on mats. Yeah, I skip the dressings on my rubber (Weathertech/Husky) mats too.
 
My knowledge & experience with dressings is also limited. FWIW, I really like DG253: the appearance is more matte rather than shiny, and it lasts quite a while as well. If it ain't broke, don't fix it type thing I guess.

Have you tried this dressing on the plastic trim? I know Tuf Stuff makes a black trim dressing but just wondering.

I use Armor All Gel on my Z06. It kinda sucks to put on, it seems to always bulk up on every single detail in the tires, and it's not as glossy as black magic but it doesnt look like I drove through puddles though.



As soon as I go through these last bottles of Armor All I will be using Tuf Shine. That stuff is amazing

Ardex makes an awesome water based dressing called ult-dress. Its really thick, and I cut it 50% with water. Usually lasts a week or two when you allow it to dry first, and with proper dry time, it does not sling AT ALL!!!
 
i never did care for shiny tires!! i like the natural black new look that duragloss tire and rubber dressing gives to my tires and they stay black.never get any of the brown faded look.

Does it dry to the touch?
 
I can't decide between SC Beyond Black or one of the Duragloss tire shines for my next thing to try. I can't remember the # of the Duragloss product,but I noticed it on the shelf at one of our local parts stores. I have been ordering Duragloss online and paying shipping and lo and behold there it is. It's a somewhat rednecky store to boot. I was surprised.

Interesting. How long does it last diluted with water? Have you compared it to matte products like mothers reflections tire care os the already mentioned duragloss DG253?
 
duragloss 253 is not bad but I do think z16 is better. I tried both several times and always find myself seeing the z16 look a bit better and last longer. the formulas are very close, and it may be the 253 is the older z16 formula, and Sal had it tweaked over the years there in NC
 
Awesome post in #86! It's not everyday you get to see 18MP pictures posted on an internet forum. The fact that the dressing in the gargantuan pics is not even evenly applied makes the irony as thick as SAE50 motor oil on a January morning in Fargo.



As for being on topic I use Megs HD at 4:1, Megs Natural Shine, and 303 all depending on the circumstances and my mood. After going through this thread (and having my browser lock up several times on page 8 before I could just killed the picture loading) I think I'm going to go down to my local CarQuest and pick up some DG 253, as well as get some Z16 next time I place a mail order.
 
After ordering some from detailed image, I am a HUGE fan of Optimum OptiBond dressing. It doesnt not sling, goes on evenly, and is great for trim. Two weeks strong and tires and trim still look great, esp the trim!
