Tire dressings..

Does anyone have pictures of their tires with 303?
....I know I posted a couple of examples in another thread, but I should add that (in my experience with 303) it usually requires a "build up" if you're looking for more sheen and it doesn't last long at all. There are better solutions out there. The only reason I currently use it because I have simply not found a tire dressing I really like yet (that doesn’t sling) and I've honestly just been too lazy to start trying new ones.

IME, HD isn't great for the tires. at 1:1 it attracts dust and i experienced sling. at 2:1/3:1 (never cared to use it at 4:1) it wouldn't last long (it will be gone when it rains or hits water, but that's typical for a water based dressing). the main thing i like using HD for is the wheel wells and engine in which it works great...

Thanks Al, you saved me some $!

What tire dressing do you use?

I skimmed through the MOL archives, and while one can find a few pictures of Hyper Dressing on tires, the MOL brethren appear to overwhelmingly favor other Meguiar's dressings. All Season Dressing is a particular favorite. See Nick's photos of ASD on tires.

Great, thanks for the link!

regardless of what dressing i use, gel liquid, spray, i always apply it with a paint brush to avoid sling. hope this helps.

....interesting. I can't believe I haven't tried that myself. I'll have to see how it works. ....thanks.

How does using a paint brush avoid sling??
....the problem I get is when the product collects in the tread blocks in the shoulder of some tires or the lettering, textures, etc. I'm just visualizing but I can kinda see how a brush might help get excess product out of areas it might like to pool (followed by a towel/applicator to help collect it).

Thanks, that does make sense.

I honestly can't remember ever having sling from any dressing except when I messed up the application  I mean...*never* in the course of thirty-some years :nixweiss I wipe off any excess and...well, no problems. Don't mean that to sound all :nono but I just don't get why so many people have trouble with something that's never happened to me.

The Meg's Gold Class Tire Gel may be the worst stuff I've ever put on my tires.

I even used it on the beater-Audi back when it still belonged to its original owner! I sure didn't like the application hassle (toothbrushing it into the ribbed sidewalls of those Michelins was something I won't soon forget, and wiping off the excess....sheesh!), and wasn't wild about the look (gimme Z16 every time, thank you), but I will say that it held up great for the whole time before I bought the car. Sheesh, that stuff was OOOOLD too, from when it first came out. Thick as toothpaste.

And it *does* wear like iron on the under-vehicle spares.

Heh heh...yeah...that's me defending Endurance :chuckle: Well, for what it is ;)

Me too. Love Z16. Never did care much for the vaseline-on-tire look. I like a clean, matte black tire that melts into the wheel well to the point that you can hardly see the tire, leaving the wheels the center point of attention. Z16 does that look very well.
