Tinted, detailed, and re-named the G

Been a bit absent as of late. Lots of stuff going at work and I have started to take a day or two out of each month to take care of some clients (yep, detailing in southern CT is available :) again). Anyway, finally had the chance to get the G tinted (LONG overdue).

I searched high and low for a Huper Optik tinter and ended up deciding against it (the color didn't look right on gray). The good thing is, I found the tint maestro for the North East. JamesTint.com of Middletown, NY is the senior most tinter in the area and boy does he make things look easy. I made the trek up there last week and had some SolarGard Supreme 40 ordered up special (35% actual reading). I got stuck in traffic and didn't get there til 6pm (an hour late) and James still accomodated me :up. Watching him work was the equivalent of watching an Autopian detail. Ultimate care, passion, and skill. He took off all the door panels, had the computer custom cut the tint, draped cloths and towels over each panel he was working on (to protect from the soapy water) and cleaned up and put back together as new. I inspected the tint in the sunlight today and was just blown away. By far the best tint job, I've had done. So yes, go with James!

I ended up going with the Supreme 40 on every single piece of transparent glass (including the windshield). The result is exactly what I was looking for. Dark, but still able to see in, light on the inside looking out with good heat/UV reduction and no problems driving at night. With the black interior and brushed aluminum accents, it spices things up a bit more.

For the detail, I clayed her, then applied Z-AIO by hand and 1 layer of Z5 Pro. I have maintained it thus far with weekly Z7 washes and Z8 to follow. Still looks, feels, and shows as freshly applied.

For the name, I had to find a happy mix between selling drugs (legally ;)) and spinning it like Ari Gold would... I came up with "HRD SEL" :D.

Nice ride Sean !!! I am pretty fanatical about tinting myself, and hate to see bad jobs on nice ride. Your guy is aces !!!

Whats that on the drivers door ??? That hurts !!! Good PDR tech will take that out in a few minutes.

Glad to see you still got the detailing itch.

hey stilez

im in the market for tint too

If that place you went is really good maybe i should go there to.

a few things,

i thought tint on the windshield wasn't allowed?

I too thought windshield tinting was illegal??

Come on man, so is drinking and driving! Yet most do it all the time.:wall :wall :wall

Sean, very nice work on the car - love the plate too.

Looks great Sean, Still better than new! It is illegal for the front tint, I just got a ticket for mine the other month but if the cops can see you inside then they probably won't mess with you.

I thought so too Jim, you'd get nailed up here for that along with 35% tint. I think you're asking for trouble Sean.

Nice work, its hard to bring out the bling on that color. That ding on the driver's door hurts, PDR will get 95% of it out since it is on a form line.

I like 50% on all sides and 35% on the back, makes it look like stock and the cops won't ask questions.

Chris: Springs are in the garage...waiting the approval of the boss. I'm still trying to sell the benefits of a lowered car in the NorthEast...It's hard after it's reputation was tarnished with the Integra :).

Dean: Two dings from older folks whom 1) Don't care. 2) Don't know. Either way, their windows mysteriously shattered one night (I'm kidding)...I gave them a piece of my mind, don't worry...And one of my TM parking cards (search my threads started).

DIP: Windshield, illegal? Yes. 35% on all glass. Your best bet is to contact JamesTint for pricing. I removed the front splash guards as they take away from the lower lines of the car. They will be back on for winter.

kleraudio and all other people who are questioning my windshield tinting :D: It's only illegal if it's enforced. CT cops could care less (my Integra roamed the streets here for 4 years sans a hassle).
