Been a bit absent as of late. Lots of stuff going at work and I have started to take a day or two out of each month to take care of some clients (yep, detailing in southern CT is available
again). Anyway, finally had the chance to get the G tinted (LONG overdue).
I searched high and low for a Huper Optik tinter and ended up deciding against it (the color didn't look right on gray). The good thing is, I found the tint maestro for the North East. JamesTint.com of Middletown, NY is the senior most tinter in the area and boy does he make things look easy. I made the trek up there last week and had some SolarGard Supreme 40 ordered up special (35% actual reading). I got stuck in traffic and didn't get there til 6pm (an hour late) and James still accomodated me :up. Watching him work was the equivalent of watching an Autopian detail. Ultimate care, passion, and skill. He took off all the door panels, had the computer custom cut the tint, draped cloths and towels over each panel he was working on (to protect from the soapy water) and cleaned up and put back together as new. I inspected the tint in the sunlight today and was just blown away. By far the best tint job, I've had done. So yes, go with James!
I ended up going with the Supreme 40 on every single piece of transparent glass (including the windshield). The result is exactly what I was looking for. Dark, but still able to see in, light on the inside looking out with good heat/UV reduction and no problems driving at night. With the black interior and brushed aluminum accents, it spices things up a bit more.
For the detail, I clayed her, then applied Z-AIO by hand and 1 layer of Z5 Pro. I have maintained it thus far with weekly Z7 washes and Z8 to follow. Still looks, feels, and shows as freshly applied.
For the name, I had to find a happy mix between selling drugs (legally
) and spinning it like Ari Gold would... I came up with "HRD SEL"
.
Cheers.
