You only get one discount for a driving course, be it driver's ed (a joke) or a true car control course.
Autocross is great to put into use what you learn in car control but it can be difficult to separate driving on a closed course and driving on public roads. Since my course, I constantly think about what I need to do to take a turn or curve at as high of a speed as possible while maintaining control (my course included time on autocross after successfully completing the braking, slalom, skid pad, paper clip, single lane change, etc.). Obviously you can't/shouldn't do that on public roads but I DO think it can be a benefit as you're constantly looking for the escape or route and contemplating your steering input, braking, gas, etc.
