The time has come!

Yup, that'show I did it. I broke them loose while on the ground, then the weight was taken off the wheel and they were removed completely.

I just noticed this thread. That is a hot whip you got there.

Now put a 2JZ-GTE in dar. :p

I was actually talking to my Dad about this tonight. He's gotten the mod bug for the Jeep already, and I think that if I can manage to get him to sneak a CAI or cat-back system on the Lexus, he might add a few more simple bolt-ons. The car is peppy for now, but if he gets the itch, it will be fast. ;)

I was pleasantly suprised today to find that the paint was very clean. I really didn't have to fold my clay once today, so of course, I folded it after each panel :o. I just need to get the front end and rear bumper clayed in the morning (ran out of lube) and then I can get rid of those swirls and rotary holograms!

Congrats Glenn, you beat me to buying a new car ;) . That color is really nice. Doesn't look like it will be to hard to maintain and i'm sure you can get it looking dripping wet. The leather also looks pretty good, lemme know how Z10 works for you, i'm thinking about getting some. One question maybe I missed it in the 17 pages of this post, but didn't you want something manual???

Good luck with it and please be safe :wavey

I'm going to do some mods to my car this motoring season.

I have yet to decide on a H22 or get some custom mounts fabricated to put a K24A (TSX) engine in. :nixweiss

Johnny-

Yeah, I had wanted a manual, and RWD. The only things I could find were old manual Integras owned by smokers (that broke any deal that could have happened) or automatic RWD cars. This one, while it's not a manual, has enough touque to have fun with. I have no regrets with the car, except not being able to polish it today :p

Corey-

I would imagine the TSX engine is alot more than an H22. Is it a new engine or just a parts bin motor?

My neighbor is picking up a '74 Trans Am this week that I might be able to tinker on him with andlearn some things. It's nowhere near as complex as my engine :o

I've got AIO curing on the 3rd wheel right now. 1 more wheel, then I wash, clay, and fix the holograms I just found

I hope the weather was better down there today. I did a full interior/wash out in Leesburg - started at 8:00 am and after 1 hour of vacuming my woolite mix would freeze in about 10 seconds. At 11:00 am when I started washing the car, it was still waaaaaayyyyyy below freezing and by the time I'd rinse off one panel I just washed the next one would be frozen. :D

Where are the pictures after claying?

It was cold this morning, and I had to wait for my hose to thaw in the sun. I brought my wheel inside one at a time after cleaning them with A2Z and wiped the residue off. I did rinse them once the hose thawed. While I was in the warmth, next to the fireplace, I sealed the wheels and put the protectant on the tires. I used the Sonus Total Eclipse, by the way, and the look is gorgeous. I highly reccomend this to anyone who doesn't like wet looking tires, but prefers them to look the way they did when new. They also beaded up pretty nicely when I rinsed the wheel wells out.

Getting a little greedy for pictures, eh? :hm :lol By the time I had finished claying, it was getting dark and you wouldn't have seen much. Tomorrow I think I may get Dad to help me out somehow. Maybe it'll show him that what I do is more than 'wax on, wax off'.

Funny story, one of our old neighbors who moved had come back for the weekend because his wife still works here and lives in a neighbor's house for now. Anyway, he was talking crap about my being wimpy and just spraying the lube on the car [for clay]. He said that when he used Simoniz (he's only like 45) he had to gob it on, let it dry, then he worked out by removing it He didn't know what I was doing. Then my Dad said "do you know what he was doing? Come here, feel the hood." Then he went on to explain how clay pulled impurities from the paint and made it smooth, and told his friend how he got hooked by me while doing his truck. The neighbor is coming back tomorrow so I can show him the difference between polished and unpolished paint :D

The car is partially detailed. I still need to run over it one more time with #83 (or Pinnacle ASMR) to remove a few stubborn swirls. After working in the cold today, I really want a rotary.

Anyway, due to the threat of rain, I threw on a quick coat of AIO to hold the finish until I can get to it. She'll be garaged for the week at the mechanics as they'll be doing some serious testing to find the glitch.

What glitch?

The electric glitch. It was mentioned in one these pages. It was originally deemed the alternator, but after it was replaced and the car had the same problems, we figured tht wasn't it. Lucky for us, noone involved (dealer, us, mechanic) is paying a dime. It's all on the tab of the 3rd party insurance company.

Just wanted to add a teaser before picture. All of my wheels looked like this before some A2Z and scrubbing:

I really hope that didn't scuff up the face of the rim. It did on one of mine :( (different car)

Nope, the tire gives the wheel enough clearance, and I was careful enough to set it down slowly. I had a towel down earlier, but the crap it picked up would have scratched my wheel.

The inside of the wheel looks like the chrome on the outside face :)

Quick update- the car is indoors for the nasty weather at the mechanic. She gets the whole week to 'open and up say "ah"'. Let's hope everything turns out right.

BTW, Steve- there was some leaking power steering fluid (per Dad, I was in school) but it wasn't anywhere near the alternator.

Are you hi-jacking my thread? :lol ;)

Atleast you have the ability.

My car is in a beautiful garage. Normally I would like this, but the garage she's in isn't mine and it's a good 20 miles away :(
