The time has come!

Well, you have inferred that both of those cars were bought for you...I was just ribbing you a bit...hope you didn't take it the wrong way.

License comes at 16 and 3, and I'm 15 an 2. Permit comes at 15 and 6. I'll be able to drive my parent home the last week of school this year.

All this talk about the Lexus makes it sound like you are about to take it out for a 100mph spin; I didn't think you were driving anything yet.

This isn't going to become a "make fun of a spoiled kid" thread, is it?

Absolutely not. You seem like a very level headed (although a tad precocious, which is ok) kid. I think because of that level-headedness a lot of people reading the thread presume you are already driving. You're lucky to have parents who are car nuts. I didn't.

Ok :)

I get enough crap from people at school for it. I've only mentioned it in 1 class.

I guess I come off as precautious because if I were to say something like "yeah, that 100 mph run was fun" people would take it the wrong way and think I would make it a habit of driving 100 mph all the time.

The Jeep was bought for me, but my Dad is like God. First he giveth, then he taketh away. I plan to begin putting cash towards the lexus payments come detailing season :D

LOL, precautious? Sorry, this is what *I* meant:

Main Entry: pre·co·cious

Pronunciation: pri-'kO-sh&s

Function: adjective

Etymology: Latin praecoc-, praecox early ripening, precocious, from prae- + coquere to cook -- more at COOK

1 : exceptionally early in development or occurrence

2 : exhibiting mature qualities at an unusually early age

:o I knew that...

In all of my past 10 years of advanced classes in schools, I've never heard that word before.

Wait, you don't even have a permit yet? Why such the rush to buy a car? LOL

Like I said, we found a good deal.

To tell you the truth, I don't know why we were so actively looking in the first place. I guess I mentioned it one day, Mom told Dad, Dad thought "new car" and the rest is a 7 page thread history.

It made sense to buy the Jeep, because Dad was going to use it as his commuter car anyway. But, the Lexus has no real "purpose" in it's life for a little while.

We have 6 cars. One is the truck used for towing my Mom's boat. One is my Mom's daily which will be given to my sister when she turns 16. One is my Dad's commuter Jeep. One's only job is to stay clean and be cleaned by me. One is in the body shop being restored now. One is sitting in the garage waiting to sit in a body shop getting restored.

Wow. It sounds like alot when you write it out.

Actually now 14 pages. :)

Wow, it is a lot, how many drivers you got in your family? We have three cars for two drivers and some co-workers (who definitely AREN'T car nuts) think that's excessive. Personally, I think at least two cars per person is just right.

Congrats!

Be Daaaaaamn sure its not that P/S pump. Two bottles of product says one day soon its gonna need another alternator...

When I was 16, I was sure my Dad was going to buy either my neighbor's bathtub Porsche or Jag XKE. Wrong! He bought a Matchbox Porsche and put it in the middle of the garage. Ha Ha. My Dad is a real funny guy.

I ended up buying a 1971 Chevelle for $400 when I was 17. Kept it for 8 years, learned to turn wrenches on it. I wish I still had it....

I whish I had a 1971 Chvelle too. One of my neighbors has an all orgiginal one. It's been sitting outside for 10 years, and the hood has gotten all dull and chalky.

Gearhead- 2 drivers. I must have my page lenghts set to twice as long as yours.

Steve- 2 bottle of product says it's either leaking or not. ;) We'll have it checked soon, just to be safe.

It's ok...I might have been a little precocious, too, and I didn't learn the word 'til later, either. ;) :xyxthumbs
Guess that show's how old I am, I learned it as a little kid from a song in Mary Poppins; "...If you say it loud enough you'll always sound precocious, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"

Of course my parents never called me that, but it was something that started with p. Oh yeah, "pain in the..."

Wow, VERY NICE! Paint looks a little dull but I'm sure you'll fix that this weekend. Be a nice color to detail. Interior looks spotless, like new! Congrats!!:D

One thing, that color interior is a PITA to keep clean! I'm sure you know that though. Enjoy!

Thank you. The first thing I did today was to get outside and clean the leather/ plastics. The leather is only 40k miles old, but it's just getting to that 'stiff' stage, where much more use without protection will begin to crack. We have Z10 on the way.

/\ Probably. My first priorities are to be positive it rounds soundly, then to make sure the leather is protected. This weekend is my paint time. Z10 should be here in a few days.

They'll be tinted this summer, I'd guess.

-Under 15K U.S.

-Lowest miles possible, unless it's something bullet proof (IE Toyota) that isn't as affected by higher miles.

-Safe.

-Insurance needs to be as reasonable as possible.

Guess I'm a little too late to the party, however if your Lexus spontaneously combusts or something, I've the perfect car for you. I just saw it yesterday at a local used car dealer:

-$14,500

-Think the mileage was around 30-40k

-Does handling count for "safe"?

-It's a 4-banger with like 14-15" wheels... how bad could insurance be?

It was a nice silver 1986 Lotus Esprit... :D

Heh heh, I dunno, it sounds perfectly normal to me! Accumulatorette and I always seem to need about that many and it's just the two of us :o

Have fun with the Lexus, sounds like a great car :xyxthumbs

The Lex looks great, fun color. It really stands out from the pack. :xyxthumbs

Most of them I've seen have been allowed to get pretty swirled up. I'm sure you'll have yours light-years ahead of the others in no time.
