The New Z8 is Out!

Can the Z8 totally replace the steps where Z6 would be used (if money is not an issue) or is Z6 still needed?

If money or conscience is no issue, yes Z8 can be substituted for Z6.

Preferred method would to be use both. Use Z6 for very light cleaning first, followed by Z8 occassionally ("Cruise nite" ;) ). Z8 is a spray sealant/ concentrated QD. I am not sure if using Z8 for initial cleaning will trip microscopic dirt/dust/stains in the micro-layer that Z8 is suppose to put in place. Of course one could use something available locally like Meg's Final Inspection (Body Shop Safe QD) first than follow with Z8 but I believe FI cost almost as much as Z6 prior to shipping cost.:nixweiss

Interesting thought about trapping microscopic dirt in the micro-layer. I was thinking about this after I read the FAQ about Z8 and was discussing a game plan with one of my friends at work. Whether or not to use Z8 between layers.

As far as Meg's FI, it is cheaper before shipping, but it doesn't give the look I get from Z6 for me. My 3 main QDs are Meg's FI, Mother's Showtime and Z6. For the past year or so, I've been sticking with FI and Showtime for regular QD after washing. I've been using Z6 only when applying Z or a "special occasion". Kind of like how Z8 is marketed.

Most of it I think was sub-conscious due to the pricing. But with recent posts about the cost of things like Zaino and products like Souveran, made me really look at it from a broader picture...it's really just a difference of pennies a day. I'm planning on using Z6 and Z8 often this summer. I think my eyes have grown more pickey over the past few years too.

It is perfectly okay to use Z8 between layers in place of Z6 on a clean surface. What I was referring to was using Z8 as a primary QD to clean and hitelite a slightly dirty/dusty finish. I have used Z8 in place of Z6 between layering and this procedure worked great even if 2nd layer was done on a garaged vehicle 24 hours later.

Ok, makes sense. Order is scheduled to arrive tomorrow :D Don't think I'll get to use it this weekend though...have to paint a house and install bathroom counter tops...not to mention I have to evict the family of swirls who have moved into my paint. :o

The Zaino site says it is not for everybody... I guess that is to make sure some people dont jump Zaino for marketing the stuff (expensive) as an "essential" part of the system. There is a lot of Zaino Bashing on Autopia for reasons I cant understand. ( the worst bashers never even used it) Zaino is almost apologetic about the price. Unusual disclaimer, IMHO Zaino says it is "optional" , almost saying "You don't have to use this product" so people wont be able to accuse Zaino of "bleeding folks" for money... So Strange! Such a super soft sell.... USE it ! It is NO option once you see what it does....

:D

Funny thing, It is actually not expensive.... a bottle will do a vehicle a number of times. Souveran does not disclaim the use of it's product.... as NOT for everyone in the same self effacing way.

Another edit: Z8 gets better the next day ! I wonder if the stuff layers ? Gonna see !:p

I need to get a good DigiCam !:xyxthumbs

I just ordered mine yesterday (along with Z-6 & Z-2Pro). I'll give it a whirl & see. Probably not something I'll use all the time. Also going to try Poorboys for my prep this time & see how I like them.

just to reiterate for those who missed previous posts- ZAINO IS A VERY GOOD(non filling) PRODUCT- THE Z2 PRO seems to be an improvent over the old Z2

How would you know?...you have clearly stated over and over that you have never used it.

LOL!!!

Anything else you want to reiterate for us wannafbody?

Well its been almost a week since my Z8 came in, every morning I get up use my calf. duster then Z8. It actually looks like I detail my car every day. Nothing I have ever used compares. Again the combo of Z2 pro and Z8 gives me the finish I have longed for, truly awesome. If anyone is trying to decide if its worth it, don't hesitate you don't know what your missing. the price is not bad considering it lasts a long time.

Looks like Z2-Pro and Z8 (first time using both) will be going on my car by Sunday. Weather is supposed to be sunny mid 60s-70. :bounce

I'll post my review ASAP. I'm hoping it'll be a good one! :woot:

I think the reason he wrote this was because if you substituted the word "z-8" with "nxt" or pretty much any other product, this thread would have been locked long ago. I kinda of understand where he's coming from, when some of the same users in this thread either knock a product or tell a user to "use the search" or "plenty of info already on it"

I don't think there is anything wrong with this thread, people are excited about a new product. The same way other new products get buzz. But if it weren't a zaino product, would the excitement be "ok" and the thread not turn into a flame war?

The BIG difference is that there was very little talk about this product before it was released. This thread is mainly from firsthand experience with the product.

not really, sounds like most user barely tried it once and already alot of excitement.

Sounds like a great product, i'm going to try and pick up some.

Just used the Z8 over the Z2 Pro today. It's simply an outstanding product. It's deep, wet, glossy & reflective. For those of you who've never used the Zaino system.....Do yourself a favor..........BUY IT NOW!!!!!

Your probably right, I don't think any other product could generate this much excitment. Zaino exceeds all expectations.

All the Z haters are probably looking for one bad comment on Z8 to piggyback on.

Honestly, how many times would you have to use a product of this type to like it or not like it? It's not like it is a wax/sealant were durability, etc. would be a concern.
