The New Z8 is Out!

Ok...I'll cut you some slack since with the Z8 it probably only looks like it's 26 years old.......my old Pontiac is only 15 and I'm pretty sure I won't have it that long....

One last note, it is difficult to adjust the bottle spray to get a fine mist.

That is because no plastic company I know of makes any large spray bottle with a micro straw. It's not Zaino's fault, they don't manufactor plastic bottles, but they can possibly do something about it. I think Zaino should sell Z8 in a non-spray container and include a mini bottle with a micro straw. That may make the price go up a buck or two. But you can buy a micro sprayer yourself pretty cheaply, and in the long run it will save you money because you can put a real fine mist with it. Z8 is not the problem, it can be sprayed very finely it just needs the right bottle.

I wasn't saying that it's Zaino fault or complaining. Just making a note of something I noticed, I have the same problem with Z6. I am looking for small bottles to transfer some products to. It makes it easy to carry some items in your trunk for touch ups. I'll use them for Z6, Z8, and 303 that I buy in big bottles.

Hi 05Sleeper,

I have the FMJ/AS products on my shelf, but have not yet had time to open my Z8 box. I can let you know this weekend perhaps. I'm interested in seeing how they look as well.

Please keep me informed. It should be a very interesting comparisson. I am surprised that no one else has brought this up yet...:nixweiss

Z8 was developed and designed to compliment and function with the Zaino system. Use with other LSP's will not represent Z8's function with Z2,Z2-PRO or Z5. Nowhere is it mentioned as a general detailing Super-QD for other LSP's.

With that stated I have tried Z8 over P21S, Shokar, and 1Z Glanz Wax. All these products were complimented by Z8 in appearance and was completely compatible in terms of lack of ill-effects like hazying, gumming of surface or complete separation (inability to buff off completely). I do not have follow-up data about the longevity of this visual improvement.

blackz28,

I think you are misinterpreting my intentions in order to help out 05Sleeper. He wants a comparison of the FMJ/Acrylic Spritz combo vs. Z2Pro/Z8. I never mentioned that I would be mixing product lines. So this would be a Menzerna vs. Zaino comparison. Hope that clears up the confusion.

05Sleeper,

Applied the Z8 last night over Z2 Pro and have a small section with FMJ/AS. I probably need to do a much bigger panel to get a better comparison looks wise. Typically Zaino products take a long time to cure on this fiberglass car...not sure why. Zaino Z2 Pro didn't even feel that slick until about a week later. Initial application of Z8 was not slick at all. This morning shows the slickness about the same as the FMJ combo, but they feel sightly different.

So I'm pretty happy about it thus far, but I have to get back to you on looks. Will probably have to do a larger panel on my black (metal car) to tell you for sure. This other fiberglass car tends to give me odd results.

No problem - you have to watch out for fellow autopians, right?

Are you guys experiencing somewhat of a cure time for Z8 and Z2 Pro? Neither felt very slick at all initially, but then hardened up over time.

Z8 seems to "cure" overnight... about 8-10 hours. The shine (slickness) seems to intensify quite a bit.:xyxthumbs

Actually, the colors seem to deepen quite a bit on mt Daily driver anyway. It is somewhere between Champagne and a metallic bronze... quite a hard color to make "pop", but Z8 did it ! Did really good on pearl white also. !

Edit... 48 hours later, it was slicker !:bounce

Justin, Definitely. :bow

Slickness:

I have found that to really feel the initial and final slickness of a product like Zaino is to use a "natural" fiber MF (i.e. DF Towel) with a terry weave. It is truly a heavenly experience using Z8 and a DF Towel.

poly MF's are my go-to MF's for every other function in detailing but capping the whole experience with a DF is SWEET. Everyone should have at least one of these MF,s (DF Towel or DavidB's (Autopia Store) natural fiber equivalent). :D

sigh...you guys have done it. My next purchse will be some Zaino. I can't necessarily say Z8 since $20 is nearly 3 hours work for me, but the regular stuff I'll try. :)

I don't care for the other sealants I have anyway.

Note what we are paying for Zaino in Australia, but to me its still worth it. Granted, Australian base hourly wage rate is higher, because we don't have tipping in Aust.

However, the results are worth it for me.... I will live in 2-minute noodles for a week to pay for my Zaino addiction :) LOL.. i

I read quickly through most of the pages, but here I go anyway.

Has anybody tried the Z8 on top of p21s or Souveran?

Are there any other websites selling Z8 instead of the Zaino site?

Pb2theMax,

I haven't tried Z8 on P21S or Souveran (yet), but I have tried it with Mothers Synwax, Poorboy's EX, and UPP. On all three, it did what I expected: Awesome short-term gloss and slickness, but none of the durability you would expect from using Z8 with Z2 or Z5.
