The New Z8 is Out!

Why? I'll review any product honestly-I don't care if its made by Turtle Wax. Zaino makes a good product-I've never said that it wasn't good-just it *might* not be as good as some claim.

Color me shocked that Zaino isn't interested in sending you a sample.

When I read that, I pulled a Macaulay Culkin w/ aftershave. Shocking, indeed. Ripley's, pay attention!

Do we have to go through this in every Zaino or NXT thread? As ZaneO suggested earlier in this thread, just move on if you're not interested...this gets so old. :argue

BTW I never tried Z8 because I wasn't one of the special ones who got free samples :o

Maybe that's because you've never used their product line and have NO idea what you are actually talking about. Keep digging that grave brother...you've been warned by the site owner and two moderators.

Warning

We have been receiving complaints about the sabre rattling in this thread and it's got to stop. The next person who even waves a sabre in this thread is going on a vacation.

In addition, anyone who PMs another member to rattle sabres will be treated like someone who has committed a personal attack.

Do I make myself clear?

Well, I called up the Motorsports store 20 miles from my house and they have Z8 in stock so I'm going to cruise down there tomorrow morning and pick some up. I am really looking forward to seeing how it works on my new paint job. As soon as we a nice day (hopefully two and even better on a weekend!) I'll be going to work. :woot:

Got the Z7, Z18, Z2 -Pro, Z5, Z6 so why not Z8? :bounce :D I'm also going to invest in new towels. Mine are pretty much done.

I'll post with the results ASAP and look foward to hearing from others who are using Z8 as well.

Just to come out of left field here, and since this is way offtopic already, the thing that seems really different about Zaino is that it is a "catalyzed" product, meaning that it's a two-part product, one with a "resin" (Z-2, etc.) and a "catalyst" (Z-1, ZFX). Generally, the most durable and chemical-resistant paints and adhesives are two-part systems.

To me, that's a fundamental difference between Zaino and any other product out there, irrespective of any price/performance discussion....and no, this doesn't have anything to do with Z-8.

PS There was some discussion here on Autopia about using Z-2 Pro without the "catalyst", but I don't see anywhere on the Zaino website where this is suggested.

I really don't think Zaino is a two part "catalyed" system. You don't mix Z-1 with Z-2 or Z-5. Z-1 is used (if I remember correctly) as a bonding agent between the painted surface and the Z-2 or Z-5. Zfx is an additive that aids in curing time for Zaino.

I'm sure there is some sort of chemical action going on there at the molecular level, but I don't think that it is due to any design aspects of a two part system like an epoxy. Int eh old days (before Zfx), you simply layered on Z-2 or Z-5 on top of the previous layer. If it was truly designed to be a catalyzed mixture, you would have to mix the two parts for each layer.

I have a full bottle each of Z-2 and Z-5 along with 3 or so bottles of Z-6 sitting on my shelf. My remaining Z-1 dried up and my Zfx had turned to jelly (it was a couple of years old), so they have gone unused. With this new Z-8 out, it might just give me the push I nee to order some more Zfx so I can use what I already have.

I ordered my Z8 et al. Wednesday and it arrived today. I'm going home to do a QEW and then throw on some Z8 to see what it looks like. :spot Right now I have one layer of UPP over the Z2 I put on last fall...

Dang ! I ordered my Z8 immediately and it wont get here to until Tuesday..... In the meanwhile I am stripping my Caddie, getting ready for a new (hopefully) look ! I plan to use the Z8 in the same manner as recommended for Z6. I hope it works. In past details, I have encapsulated other products with Z2Pro, such as EX-P, SG, WG, etc, picking up some aspects of those sealants in the process. Hopefully, this Z8 will enhance the entire Zaino process, as implyed on the Z site. I love to try new combinations !

New Detail will be pure Zaino....

Guess it takes 4 days for the truck/train to get over the Rockies.

The single most added benefit of ZFX is the quick cure time so that multiple layers can be added in one day with out waiting (up to 3). A few side benefits are easy removal, and quicker drying times in cooler and more humid environments. Some users also report an increase in gloss, but this may be noticed more or less depending on the specific application.

Just an FYI, it is best to use Z8 after you have a coat of Zaino on and not before that coat...in my experience.

Just thought I'd throw that out because some like to use Z6 before applying Zaino.

I have noticed the drying time is very short for Z2Pro. I also am informed that drying time is NOT curing time. I am in agreement that the ZFX is for accelerating the cure to enable multiple layers in a short amount of time and has nothing to do with hardness or cure quality, so Z2Pro is not a 2 step process in the way that epoxy is. There is no quality improvement in the cured state. Also, I would speculate that the appearance improvement is due to a shortened cure time with the ZFX, and that the "pop" shows up faster....

I use Z6 before applying Zaino and will continue to do so. I figure I'll use Z8 as the final step and see how it goes for in between washings. I plan to continue use the Z6 for the QD. I often add a bit of distilled water to my Z6 to prevent streaking.

This is why I haven't invested in ZFX. I evaluated how I detail and basically I can't think of a time that I wanted and needed to add multiple layers in one day. Maybe it's because I'm a slow (read:obssessive) detailer or something but I wouldn't have the time and it's just as easy to wait until the next day. My car isn't an everyday driver and is garaged so that helps too.

I find that drying time isn't a problem. The key is to use a very thin coat of Zaino. While it's drying I'll detail the inside of the car so even on a humid day it's not a problem

So I just stick with the Z1.

Just used my new Z8 , This stuff is going to cause major problems

its truly awesome. I would pay $50 for this stuff.

Shhhhhhh! DO NOT CREATE HYPE!! ;)

Now you see how hard it is to keep things under wraps during development knowing that something really special is in your possession.

Very commendable, especially as you resisted in spite of being (in a friendly manner) told to â€Ëœspill it! While beta testing

I used the Z8 this morning on my truck, which has Z2, and then some UPP I put on in Jan. It increased the shine (or reflectivity) and made the surface super-slick, but otherwise I wasn't blown away with it. I think the main advantage of Z8 for me is that I can wipe on a quick coat of extra protection and shine any time, and for that reason alone I think it is a great product.

My truck sat outside all day and in the evening was absolutely covered with dust and pollen, but I guess no product is going to prevent that :(

Hey there Dave,

I can relate to the pollen problem. First off, I've been living here in West Texas for a little over 2 1/2 years & I'm convinced it's the "dust capital" of the world. To make matters worse.....it's pollen season to boot!!!

Hang in there!!!
