Soooo who wants to train for a 5K with me?

What a badass start to the day.

Week 6 of the program is under way

Set 3 p.r.'s this morning (calories burned, time running, and beat my last distance by a quarter mile)

Hit 10 pounds lost exactly 4 weeks into cleaning up my diet and 1 of those weeks being on vacation last week.

Hey, congrats on the PRs!

Adding a qtr. mile is a pretty big increase percentage-wise, isn't it?

And maintaining a weight-loss diet while on vacation takes some doing!

After having a garbage run Monday, I set a P.R. in Time ran (35 minutes per the program tonight), distance (3.63 miles), Pace (9:40), and calories burned tonight (556). Run felt good from beginning to end. Week 7 is officially underway. Pretty pumped that there's less than two weeks left and I've stuck with it. Down to 191.6 and literally feel better than I have in God knows how long.

House of Wax- Hope I don't sound like a broken record, but congrats on staying the course and setting another PR!

Ah, so you had a "garbage run" Monday but then had an especially *good* one shortly thereafter. IMO that's a clue :D As in, "Periodization". Even the best athletes in the world don't go for broke every workout, something I have to remind myself now and then.

Since you're doing the same thing (running) each workout and working per a, uhm....non-individualized program, I'd expect there to be times when you do better/not relative to what that program has you scheduled to do.

My accomplishment is nowhere as lofty as what House of Wax has done. I congratulate you on this. I've been off of my leg to some extent for the past 11 months, 8 of them on crutches in a cast or boot. In the past I walked 5 miles a day 6 days a week and had done so for 6 consecutive years, give or take the occasional sick or snow day. Last night I began walking again. Today, was the second day I went out and walked, 4 miles. Feels good to begin getting back to the old routine. Hoping the pieces all stay together this time. House of Wax, good luck on all the marathons you face.

I did notice something awesome relating to detailing last weekend. I haven't done a detail in a couple months since we've been so busy. Last week was the first time I've had jobs to do since I started getting back into shape and eating better, which was a boat that I worked on after work last week and then a car on Saturday. Before I'd start to lose steam about 3/4 the way through a job and couldn't wait to finish. Saturday I noticed I had plenty of energy all the way through and even did some house projects after the customer picked up his car. It is absolutely ridiculous how much constant energy I've had throughout the day since I started this. Makes me mad that I wasted so much time being flabby and lazy.

GearHead-1- Glad to hear you're walking again! Walking is just one of those things that doesn't get the appreciation it deserves IMO.

House of Wax- I'm glad to hear (but not surprised ;) ) that you have more energy and that it really makes a diff in the practical/real-life sense. That oughta contribute some additional long-term motivation!

Ron- [INSERT my usual "get in shape!" lecture here :D ]

I should have read the title closer.

I thought is said 'who want to train for $5K with me?'

As if you are the next Renny. :)

Hit 15 lbs. exactly this morning. Been a looooong time since I've seen the 180's. 5 to go and only 3 runs left of the program

House of Wax- I somehow thought about you and your progress when I got up this morning, maybe because I decided to delay my cardio one day as my legs were still a bit sore yesterday.

Bet you're stoked now, getting down into the 180s! Passing certain milestones is great motivation, huh?

Oh absolutely. I literally feel better and better every week. I'm 50% thrilled to be making the progress and getting healthier and 50% frustrated with myself that I let myself go to the point where I was.

Oh well, just glad I didn't wait any longer. Actually noticed the other day I need to order some new work pants cus I can't hardly keep the ones I have now up lol

House of Wax- That frustration over your "before" oughta help keep you motivated, a little tweaking of your perspective'll turn it into a plus. After a little while I bet you won't even think about it at all (you'll hit that "what's behind me is over.." point).

Likewise new pants- both a reward and motivation to keep at it.

Ya know, this whole thing can get you to a better place compared to people who never had the wakeup call- plenty of foks who don't get fed up (for whatever reason) with their condition never get motivated to get into shape, and while they might not give it any thought it still catches up to them in a big way. Like..."I don't need to exercise or eat right, I'm not fat or anything", then they suddenly find they can't do stuff as they get older.

Alright, in the home stretch. Last week of the program, first day done.....2 runs left!!!! This week bumped up to a 28 minute straight run with 5 min. warmup walk and 5 min. cooldown walk. Hit 3.94 miles total. Not gonna lie, I half though about jogging part of my cool down to hit 4 miles. Oh well. I've got a hard target to shoot for Thursday now.

1) Felt great running tonight. Lungs were good, legs felt strong. I had Portillo's for dinner tonight. The last time I felt this good/strong running I had Portillo's for dinner that night as well. Coincidence? I don't think so
2) Love seeing milestones broken. I was determined to see 4 miles tonight, and I did it. Don't think I've ran that far at once since high school
3). 1 RUN LEFT FOR THE C25K PROGRAM!!!!!!! Should get that run in Saturday morning. After that is a timed 5k to see what I can do it in. Still haven't decided what I'm going to do after that. Contemplating going through the 10K program before winter. After that I'll shift my focus to lifting through the winter months.
