Some cool current and up and coming classic car wet sanding projects

Rasky's Auto Detailing
Just thought I share some pics of the'67 GT500 convertible I'm working on as well as some cars I'll be doing after I finish this one. I'll be doing all the wet sanding and buffing for this shop from now on. :)

Some wet sanding had already been done on this car before I arrived but I still ended up going over the whole car. I'll be heading back there later this week to start buffing.

All sanded...1000 & 2000 by hand, 3000 by DA. Paint was a few months old and very hard!

I buffed a small spot before I left with M105 and a W5000 pad. Looking like glass now. ;)

I was pressed for time so sorry about the poor quality pics. I try to get more detailed with them as I get more into a grove. Not used to working off site. :D

Looks like you scored big. I recall you mentioning your dad had a body shop in one of your previous posts, when you had wetsanded the Acura RL I believe. Is that his shop?

Those are some awesome cars and your work looks outstanding as usual.

I am assuming you will need to be doing it full time if you are wetsanding and buffing all the cars for the body shop?

Great work my friend!

LOL. Well actually it's not the same shop as where I had the RL done. However, my father switched jobs and started working for this place just before the first of the year. My old man got my foot in the door so I owe him a big thanks. :D

There are a few cars that need to get done asap so I will be taking some time off from my full time job, but I should only need 3 days to do a cars when the paint is fresh. We are going to try and work it out so that I there a few days after it gets painted so that I can do the initial cut n' buff before it goes back upstairs for assembly. I will then come back at a later date and do a final polish on the car before it gets loaded up for transport.

If all goes well I will probably work Fri, Sat, Sun and then do 4 ten hour days at my regular job if HR allows me to do so. ;)

Chad, you're a glutton for punishment. I guess that's one way to enjoy a MN winter. :shocked Make sure you take 2 or 3 weeks off to enjoy that MN summer in it's entirety. :grinno:

Looks like a lot of fun!

You should mention to the shop that a lot of those tires are mounted on the wrong way.

Specifically:

'67 GT500 Convertible (First)

'59 Impala Convertible (Last)

Very nice gig! Sweet rides!

Molding in bumpers isn't really a good idea unless they're trailer queens...

Thanks!

Yeah, customers get what they want though...some have it done but there were a few that left the seems. They do some serious reinforcing of the frame and body but with some of them putting down over 800 hp I would still think it it's just a matter of time before they get stress cracks.

Will Do! I'm not sure the wheels/tires mounted on the '67 are staying on the car as one of them was red. The Impala has Foose wheels on it and I'm sure they are for that car...I'm guessing they are just directional?

looks like a blast Rasky! Congrat's on the great gig and I look forward to seeing how you can transform more of these rides to true beauties

Rasky this is outstanding. This is the work we all enjoy. Well I do anyway. To me this is the real correction end. Wetsanding to perfect paint not just correct it. Rasky thanks for sharing this I look foward to many after shots. I'm a big old school car guy! congrats man.

Ha, that ride height ain't gonna work on Minnesota streets.

Air ride. ;)

Thanks again guys! Heading back up there tomorrow night so I should have some finished pics Monday of the grey one and maybe the red one too. :)

LUCKY!!! Thats an awesome gig...

but take it from me, last year I worked way too many hours and it definitely took its toll on everything! Dedicate one day a week for YOU time - no work!!! You and those around you will thank me later! I was putting in 70+ hour weeks for a while there and it was a real pain trying to balance a social life, work life, and business life...I finally said to myself "what good is all this money in the bank doing me if I cant enjoy it..." - your 40hr regular job plus 3 straight long days at the shop = no spare time!

OMG - I am so jealous. I would love to make every square inch of those cars perfect. Looks like tons of fun.

Thanks David! Kevin Brown was nice enough to take some time out of his day yesterday to discus some different sanding techniques with me...that man is so full of knowledge that it blows me away! :bow

Very true! I told them I'd help get them caught back up and then it should only be 1-2 cars a month. I did the 70+ hr work weeks back in the day when I detailed full time and I agree it no fun. Caused lots of problems with me and my girl too. I figured if my fiancee can work full time and still manage law school part time that I can handle this a few weekends a month. Plus my old man works there so it will be nice to be working with him again. :bigups

I don't have much of a social life either...but when you enjoy what you do and making

real progress on a daily basis, it's worth it. I hope...and being too busy in these tough

times says a lot and we should be grateful.
