Side by side X-Kote comparison 4runner

I thought I would share this photo with you guys to give to an idea as to X-Kote potential in reconditioning some older work over cars.



This is a 96 4runner single owner ( rancher) so the truck see's allot gravel. It has tones of stone chips and the surface was scratched severley. I worked over the hood of this truck with some Meg's #4 to see how much could take out and I made a very small dent in the overall appearance.



It's cars and trucks like this where X-Kote has fantastic value and cost savings. My total time on this truck was 4 hours of work.

I achieved this look without having to polish. I stated above that I took some #4 to the hood of the car to see what polish would do to the scratches on this truck and it did nothing. X-kote is a hand applied product.
 
It's a hand applied self leveling clear coat. It bonds to the old surface creating a new layer of clear that you can wax and down the line also power polish.

I find this VERY hard to believe. You can't just wipe on a clear coat.

You gotta see it to believe it man! You can't, maybe, but a trained person with the right product can.
 
X-kote seem like a heavy duty clear paint like coating. There was a similar product that was advertised for hard wood floors. Zaino has just come out with a product called Clear Seal that sounds like it is more like a wax, while X-Kote is more like a refinish product.Correct me if Im wrong.

I wonder how durable it is?



I'd like to see some pro's here put this stuff thru the ringer and see what shakes out.....

No it will not fix clear coat failure. I tried it out, best I could do was to wetsand the edges of the existing clear then seal it with X-Kote. You can still see the border but not as bad, that being said, any further clearcoat failure will have been stopped because the area has been sealed with the X-kote application.

Guess what.. Now you can! I know it''s hard to believe that's because this product is so new to the market.

Could you do a 3-phase pic post?

1. Before treatment, but after a wash.

2. After X-Kote is completed.

and 3. After a good wax(after step #2).

Nearly all of your posts on Autopia revolve around X-Kote. :hm

I am a distributor for the product in my local area and I use it in my shop to recondition cars.
