since i have been warned so many times about my post, i will give you a heads up. The pro's cant post anything like that as it is considered spam. So if you want to see out stuff send us a PM

Actually Brian, as long as its not a blatant attempt at advertising then its acceptable in this forum. I mean, that is kind of what its here for. :) As long as its a request from a member then its ok. We've done it in the past with business cards and websites, so why not flyers? As long as you are answering a questions without tooting your own horn (that goes for everybody) then its ok. These threads do get watched a little more closely though.

Anyway, its cool to show him your work out here if you keep it non-SPAMmy. :xyxthumbs

You can post flyers, but you can't use the Autopia gallery to host them.

This is the one I used to put out on doors and cars when I was first starting out. I think the last time I put out flyers was in 1996, so bear that in mind when you see the prices!

BTW, my brother designed them. :up

That's pretty cool, Scott. Does your brother do that for a living or does he just have a talent? Looks very professional. :xyxthumbs

Sorry to go off topic but what do you mean by protect weather stripping? Are you talking about the blue tinted strip at the top of the windshield? I usually just use clear vision on it...

Too Cheap Scott! Raise your prices!

I can see it...

some tips I think might help you proffessionals in marketing is to somehow pointout that only the greatest care is taken with each and every car. Perhaps make even more of a point that only top quality, non harmful cleaners are used (in Scott's example he said only meguiar's, but perhaps make it bolder, more at the top and say only meguiar's proffesional line...Only the greatest care for my customers whether its a ferrari or a festiva).

I say that because now that I'm really into taking care of my car it would be very hard for me to just pick any detailer from flyer alone, I would have to be ASSURED that this was a very serious, proffessional person.

Also if it feasible, use a before and after picture of a customers car. Maybe some customer quotes too, especially customers with high end cars. This type of marketing has worked very well for a long time now.

Just some input, I hope it helps...any proffessional detailers that care enough to be on here posting all the time are definitely detailers I want to prosper, and hire myself!

one last thing, a website is the best, cheapest marketing you can get now adays, and a perfect place to post tons of before and after pictures :D

I too can see it.

What do you mean offer quotes? He has his price stated clearly?

reread the post ;)

edit: well I'm not sure how it can be confusing, but I guess I will reiterate... I said or meant or whatever, put on the flyers quotes from CUSTOMERS. You know satisfied customers saying how great their cars turned out: QUOTES!

clear?

placing quotes from satisfied customers on a flyer was something i considered, but it seemed way too much like an actor on some infomercial endorcing a product he's never used. i think way too many quotes i see places are total b.s. so i tend to get skeptical when i see them. i mean, how hard is it to make up a quote and throw it on a flyer? and...it's not like anyone is going to put a negative quote on there or anything. HOWEVER, most people never think that far into it so ... i guess it's not a bad idea.

This is how I see it. People don't analyze advertisements unless they think the whole entire product being offered is silly. If they are in the market specifically for what what is being advertised then all they want is assurance that its the best being offered. I would just play on that need, and assure the buyer that you are the best, and take the greatest care with the vehicles.

completely just my opinion, hope some of the ideas help...

Reread the quote you pulled from me....I think the last time I put out flyers was in 1996, so bear that in mind when you see the prices!

Probably too cheap even then!

You are correct about pricing your work too cheaply-either you end up with discount shoppers who tend to have the nastiest vehicles or want extra work for free, or you turn off potential customers who don't think you can do quality work for such a low price.

subterfuge-What I mean by protect weather stripping is to use a rubber/vinyl protectant on them to keep them supple and new looking.

emobob-In 1996, printing photos on flyers was not as easy or inexpensive as it is today. I do have a lot of pictures (some before and after, most just after to show the range of vehicles I have detailed) on my website, in addition to a photo album I keep with me to show new customers (and 8 more filled albums at home-I have well over 1000 pics of different cars).

I don't really know how you can convey the quality of your work on a simple flyer other than by putting out a professional looking flyer. I think by specifically stating what would be done to the car and promoting the use of Meguiars products (most people have heard of Meguiars) is about the most you can do. Anyone can make up quotes. I see quotes in advertisements and ignore them since I have no way to determine the validity of them.

Jngrbrdman-My brother is a system's analyst for a law firm and is very adept at computers and anything you can do with them. I came up with the idea of cars in the background and the text and he came up with the road for the borders and the overall design.

He also does my gift certificates.

I should hope so Scott. I know you are worth FAR more than $75.00! I trust you are keeping busy.

Thanks!

I've been slammed the past few weeks-in fact, this has been the best two weeks surrounding Christmas and New Year's Day I've ever had. In addition, the Dallas area had 10" of rain more than normal this year, in fact, 6" more than last year and I was still up on the year $2000 over last year with no price increase...especially good since we had a ton of rain through mid June and I was down nearly $1500 by the end of June. Made all it up plus an additional $2000!

If the weather stays like it has been the last few week (rain on Monday, nice the rest of the week) for the rest of the winter, 2003 should be a very good year!

BTW, how is it going up in the great white north? How much business do you get this time of year?
