SEO for detailers: Can we reach the first page of Google?

We made first page in 5 days Robert!!!!! wow Can we get to the top of the list? Now those are results!!!!

car detailing lancaster pa - Google Search

That was about 5 days earlier than expected. There were several factors helping our cause:

1. Your site is 3 years old. Takes much longer to rank new sites (Google doesn't trust them initially).

2. Lancaster, PA is relatively uncompetitive. If we were trying to break into Philadelphia, New York, Miami, Orlando, etc...this would be a long term project (2 months maybe).

I still have links to build for you, so I think we can go higher in the next week.

Can't guarantee spot 1 though.

How does this effect surrounding cities? Instead of Lancaster, insert xxxxxxx(next city over), PA. Does this have a positive effect in that way?

Not much. We targetted two cities with his home page: Lititz and Lancaster. We got 1st page rankings for both.

But...if we built backlinks with link text like "Landisville car detailing" "Petersville car detailing", etc. Google might get the picture that Presidential Details serves those cities also.

It looks like you had made the top of the list with the new google search layout. "places" are now being integrated with the "organic" listings

Okay, it's been two weeks and we've secured very high spots for our keywords.

Spot #2 for "Lancaster PA Car Detailing":

Spots #1 and #2 for "Lititz PA Car Detailing":

lititzpa.jpg

:dance :dance

How did we do it?

  1. Included our 2 keywords in our website's title.
  2. Added an [H1] tag with our #1 keyword (Lancaster PA Car Detailing)
  3. Created business profiles on free directories.
  4. Wrote unique articles and posted them to Web 2.0 sites.

This alone is usually not enough to get you to page 1.

You need more and more LINKS. LINKS=authority in Google's eyes. The more sites that link to you, the more Google acknowledges your site as relevant.

Thus, I built a link structure that looks roughly like this:

linkwheel.jpg

Certainly not something you want to attempt yourself, but you will get QUICK results.

If I can offer you 2 simple tips to improve your visibility on Google, it would be this:

  1. Edit your site's title to include your 1 or 2 most important keywords ([your city] car detailing by ABC detailing)
  2. Build as many inbound links to your website as possible.

Here are some suggestions for building inbound links:

1. Create profiles (with your website address) for your company on Google, Yahoo, MerchantCircle, and YellowPages.com.

2. Write unique articles and submit them to free online blogging sites like blogger.com, webs.com, yola.com, hubpages.com, squidoo.com, and wetpaint.com. BE SURE THAT YOUR ARTICLES INCLUDE A LINK TO YOUR HOMEPAGE.

3. Ask for links. Ask your customers. Ask your suppliers. Do you do work for a car club? Ask for a link (very powerful). Do you work with a body shop, a transmission shop, a paintless dent repair tech? Ask for links. BUT DO NOT LINK BACK. Two way links are completely useless.

I hope this 2 week project has answered some of your questions about search engines. If you're not convinced of the value of search engine optimization, consider this. In 7 years, I've seen 60% of the detail shops in my city go out of business. The failure rate for businesses on the first page of Google? 0%.

If you'd like a quote on your own site, PM me. Thx!! Robert.

Robert....

If detailers that can vouch for each other, have links on their websites to other detailers websites, will this help?

Yes, these are very powerful links. But you cannot offer a link in return. Otherwise, it would become one huge game where we exchange links with as many other sites as possible.

Robert,

I can''t thank you enough for everything that you have done for me. I think its been about 4 weeks now and have since been so busy with work its insane. I made enough money with google customers over the last 3 weeks that it should cover all the fees for one year. My phone is consently ringing and I am now booked out with both retail and wholesale work for the next 3 weeks. I actually had to raise my prices a little because of this. I never thought the impact of google was for real. I now know it is. I even picked up a huge wholesale account that will now lead me to hiring several detailers to help me out. Robert your work is a godsend to any of us and I hope you can help the rest of these gentleman out. Thanks again.

lol before we know it--Barry's going to be too legendary to associate with the lower likes of us grunts lol

Jokes aside, cheers to your successes (and big ups to Robert, whoever you may be)

Though marketing definitely factors in, I'm sure the quality of work you put out helps ensure the continued wealth of successes that are headed your way. Keep up the work sir.

Wow. Even I'm surprised by the response you got from reaching the first page of Google and Yahoo...and in November!

Barry's been the only Autopian to invest in my SEO service so far, and as you can see, it's powerful stuff.

I'm looking for more customers. I don't require contracts and don't require payment until we reach Google's first page. You can cancel at any time, unlike most search engine services.

PM me or email (my website is below) me for a quote.

I also build and remodel websites.

Just finished up Autopian Quality Leather's remodel.

His old site:

Quality Leather Repair

His new site:

Miami Vinyl and Leather Repair by Quality Leather Repair

Interestingly enough, if you google "car detailing lancaster PA", Barry isn't even on the first page... Is SEO really THAT specific ?

Barry: A suggestion as well, throw up a page hit counter on your web site. I'm sure you're curious like the rest of us how many acutal hits you get in a day or week.

If I search for "car or auto" detailing lancaster pa, I find Barry about 5-6 links down. If I just look up "detailing" lancaster pa I find him at #1. just fyi, still pretty good to be on the first page at all.

He's now #1 if you search "car detailing lancaster pa". It takes a while for Google to recognize the inbound links I created to him.

Note the importance of writing a compelling description tag. I invite the searcher to meet Barry and see "stunning photos." With a great description, you can "steal" clicks from searchers even if you don't have one of the top 3 spots on the page.

Thanks to this thread I was sold on contacting robert. Man of his word, kept true to his word on his quote which was a HUGE help for me. I look forward to working with him and cant wait to see the results.

Thanks to the info in this thread I was able to get my new site onto page one of google within 3 weeks using the tactics mentioned here. I'm not from the biggest city (150,000) so getting to page one was easier than in bigger markets, but it still took some time and effort. The biggest difference came when I changed the title of my site to "Auto Detailing by Postal Auto Shine Abbotsford" instead of "Postal Auto Shine Abbotsford"

I come up on page one for "auto detailing" "car detailing" "truck detailing" and "boat detailing". Just wondering what other search phrases I should target.

Thanks for all the info!

I am currently using Robert in a variety of projects, including a new detail site. His work on my other site was noticed within days. He found a keyword that is used about 215 times per month, but wasn't sought out by many of my competitors. After a little tweaking, I am on page one of Google (within days) for that term!

It's not only the results from Robert that sells me on his services, but it's the communication from him and I love his emails that show a video of what he's talking about! Very cool!

We made a little film last week when packaging an order for a customer. We sent it to his email with a link. He was very excited to see his order being packaged and having our family (company members) say, "Thank you, Jim!"
