SEO for detailers: Can we reach the first page of Google?

Thanks to the info in this thread I was able to get my new site onto page one of google within 3 weeks using the tactics mentioned here. I'm not from the biggest city (150,000) so getting to page one was easier than in bigger markets, but it still took some time and effort. The biggest difference came when I changed the title of my site to "Auto Detailing by Postal Auto Shine Abbotsford" instead of "Postal Auto Shine Abbotsford"

I come up on page one for "auto detailing" "car detailing" "truck detailing" and "boat detailing". Just wondering what other search phrases I should target.

Thanks for all the info!

Great job.

Usually, the high traffic keywords in any city are:

[city name] car detailing

[city name] auto detailing

other words like

[city name] car detail

[city name] auto detail

[city name] car detailer

receive some traffic too, but Google knows "detail" and "detailer" are synonyms of "detailing" essentially, so you if you're ranking for [city name] car detailing and [city name] auto detailing, you will rank for these too.

Do you service more than just Abbotsford? Put those other cities in your title and you may rank for them.

Adjusting your title to match your keywords, and building some backlinks by signing up for free directories yelp, yahoo local, google places, citysearch, and insider pages, is usually enough to reach page one in a smaller city.

In a larger city, it takes a lot more advanced backlinking.

I am currently using Robert in a variety of projects, including a new detail site. His work on my other site was noticed within days. He found a keyword that is used about 215 times per month, but wasn't sought out by many of my competitors. After a little tweaking, I am on page one of Google (within days) for that term!

It's not only the results from Robert that sells me on his services, but it's the communication from him and I love his emails that show a video of what he's talking about! Very cool!

We made a little film last week when packaging an order for a customer. We sent it to his email with a link. He was very excited to see his order being packaged and having our family (company members) say, "Thank you, Jim!"

Rob Regan

Nice touch with the video!

How about this idea:

After every detail you complete, film a 60 second walk-around of the customer's freshly detailed car. 6 months later, email them a link to the video. "Dear [customer], it's been 6 months since your last detail. Remember this: [link to vid]. I'm available this week to detail your car again. 20% off if you book in the next 24 hours."

This should drastically improve your repeat business.

Robert,

what is the best way to collect emails from people visiting my web site? I can offer a first timer incentive for filling out an inquiry.........the real question is how to offer that on my web site, a program, a shareware?

Cheers,

GREG

Use Email Marketing Software, Email Marketing Newsletters & Autoresponders by AWeber.

This is very effective. Offer a $25 discount if they sign up for your newsletter. The discount must expire within 4 days...otherwise the customer procrastinates.

Now that you have their email, you can contact them once or twice a month for years to come. They may not be ready at the very moment they visit your site to buy a detail, but some day when they are ready, you will be at the top of their mind because of the relationship you've built with them over time.

Do I have the actual emails with this? Is this a code I imbed to my website? Is this one of the better companies to deal with?

Cheers,

GREG

You write the emails.

Aweber generates code you embed into your website. It's just as easy as embedding a youtube video. They are the best at optin forms...not icontact and not constant contact.

Email optins are extremely powerful. Maybe 1/50 people who visit your site every calls or emails. Of those, maybe only 50% book an appointment. Thus, 99/100 visitors see your site, leave your site, and forget about you forever.

If you can get just 20% to opt into your email form, you have the opportunity to earn their business in the future. And inevitably, they will be in a buying mood.

Backlinks are links from other websites.

Some examples:

1. You create an entry on local.yahoo.com that includes your web address.

2. You edit your signature on autopia.org to include a link to your website.

3. You publish an article about car care on ezinearticles.com that includes a link to your website.

4. The car dealers and other automotive businesses you work for include a link to your website on their own websites.

Google sees all of these links to your website as "votes" as to your popularity on the Internet. Generally speaking, the website with the most "votes" gets top spot on Google.

OO ok i see, that makes a lot of sense. thank you very much for the info.

Thanks for all your help Robert! 1st page in one month for google search!! I should have got in touch with you sooner. Thanks for giving me such a great price and not changing it up on me.

Looks like citysearch has pulled their business owner-directed "free" listing option. The $20 setup / $1.65/click for prominent placement is not worth it...don't bother.

Here's how to get listed for free though. A customer or a friend whose car you have serviced will have to create an account on citysearch, then write a review of your service. That puts you in their directory and gets you started with (hopefully) one positive review. The more reviews you have, the higher you appear on the list.

SEO has gotten me a lot of extra business. My Roomate in college does it for me. We are ranked in the top 5 for just the term car detailing!!! I am also ranked #1 for every town in my area in MA. I am scheduling at least 15 appointments per month from SEO alone, and its the dead of winter here in MA so the search volume is low and I am still getting thousands of pageviews per month on my site.

If anyone needs an SEO guy, pm me and ill give you his contact info.

If you are looking for an SEO, i highly recommend ROBERT KEPPEL from SEO for detailers.

After setting a goal (which was 1st page on google), he told me that it could take 6 weeks. Well, he got me on 1st page of google in 2 weeks!!! After hittin.g 1st page, i'm booking full details instead of the price shoppers on craigslist. This is awesome. Worth every penny i paid him.

Robert if you are reading this, i want to thank you!!! Easiest guy to work with... He is easy to talk to and listens to you! Weekly updates were a treat. It showed progress of your site ranking.

Pricing was very reasonable. I was quoted 1000 dollars by a COLLEGE KID OFF CRAIGSLIST. Again, after a couple of details (got it from being on 1st page on google), it literally pays itself.

If you have a website, i highly suggest you hire an SEO. Of course, due to experience, hire robert, he'll take care of you...

As of today, Elite Tint N Detail occupies the third spot on Google's first page for "Providence auto detailing":

providence.jpg

That's a really good result for three weeks time. We got there quickly because Providence is a relatively low-competition city. Were we shooting for "Chicago auto detailing" or "Miami auto detailing" it would take at least three times as long...maybe more.

Elite's next goal should be to accumulate reviews. Though he has good placement, the addition of "social approval" from reviewers will greatly improve the odds of turning visitors into callers and (ultimately) customers.

Want to get better search engine placement? Spend some time on seochat.com if you're a do-it-yourselfer. Don't have the time? I've got lots of room for new clients.

Update on my SEO...

I pay Robert a monthly charge to take care of my towelpros site. Microfiber towels is VERY competitive. Since he began working on my site, I went from about 32 unique visitors per day to about 132 last I checked. This is only over months time. He is creative and intelligent about how he approaches SEO. Sales? Yes. I am on par to do 4-5x what I did last year and have done NOTHING else but float him some money each month.

My buddy used him for a CL add and is now getting hits for business there. Well worth the money.

Also remember, you have to put your own energy into whatever you do. He tells me that if I would get going with my videos that sales would again jump beyond where they are now. That's my goal next week when I have some time to myself at home and only a few details lined up.

Best of all, I like how he is constantly communicating with me about the progress. I can't always email back, but I love the updates!

Thanks Robert-

UPDATE on Car Detailing in South Shore, MA - J&B Detailing

Just thought I'd chime in and let you guys know how SEO is working out for me.

My mobile detailing business is south of the Boston area, in a region called the South Shore. We have ranked for terms such as "car detailing south shore ma" and smaller towns on the South Shore like Scituate, Cohasset, Hingham, Hull, Weymouth, Quincy etc...

Here are the results when searching for "car detailing south shore ma"

car-detailing-south-shore-ma-2.jpg

As you can see we have 3 listings on the first page!!

My SEO guy, Travis Killian is THE BEST and has been doing SEO ever since Google and Yahoo have been in existence. He has done hotels, airlines, auto detailing businesses, antique stores, landscapers, wedding planners, you name it--he can do it.

I have a J&B Detailing franchise based in Columbia, South Carolina where I went to college (GO GAMECOCKS!) and Travis Killian has ranked #1 on the first page for "car detailing Columbia, SC", and #2 on the first page on the Maps listings.

We have also started an auto detailing franchise in Charlotte, NC. Mobile and Auto Car Detailing in Charlotte, NC 704-464-0163 is #1 on the organic listings, and #2 on the maps listings. Just type in "car detailing charlotte" to see for yourself.

The same goes for Charleston, SC where we own Auto Detailing, Car Detailing and Car Washing in Charleston. Currently we are #3 on the first page.

We are not shooting for the first page of Google, we are aiming for the #1 listing on Google. Over 50% of people click on the first result on google. If you are on the first page, but have lets say a #7 listing, you are only get a fraction of a percent of clicks. See the click distribution rate below.

I am not trying to talk him up, but if you want real results like I have showed you, shoot me a PM or contact me.

I had to bump this one to the top.

Robert - are you still doing websites for detailers? If so, can you explain what you offer?
