Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine.

How many ounces per gallon are recommended for washing?

Instruction said 1 oz to 2 gallon water.

I only used No Rainse twice so far. It seems like 1oz to 1.5 g water solution glid better than 1oz to 2 g water.

Anyone one want to share their opinions?

I would think you'd need more lubricity to wash than QD, so why would you use 4 times as much for mixing QD?

I based that on personal preferences....your individual mileage may vary

Also, with a wash mixture you are flooding the area with water, more water less lubrication needed. In a QD form you ar eusing less flushing water hence more lubrication is best.

Based on the label, you actually need more of the product in the mix for QD. My guess is,QD is using less water to act as a medium between the clear coat and the dirt etc on the surface. so need more lubricity. Not sure if i'm right... :hm :hm :hm :)

This is the first thing I did with the beta samples Dave sent Ron and I....mixed it up as a QD.

6 to 8 ounces per gallon is all you'll need for a basic QD. Add more if you like. I am finding it works nice on glass also.

Anthony..what is the mix you would use for a Spray and Wipe type product with the Optimum???

Hi guys,

after some enquires, i decided to try using (1) a plush microfiber towels, (2) genuine sheepskin wash mitt with Optimum no rinse.

for both wash, the mitt and the towel are not as dirty as my previoius microfiber wash mitt. :)

but i reckon i need to agitate the microfiber towels much harder to release the dirt.

for both i'm using just 1 pail, no additional rinse bucket. The dirt really settled on the bottom of the pail! i notice the dirt particles are like small little beads. with a Grit guard it'll be a great 1 pail method! :bigups :bigups

the end result...

my car feels slick! has a certain level of shine. looks wet too!

The test proves one bad thing though.......

its time to throw away my previous microfiber wash mitt!!! :tribe: :tribe:

I'd highly recommend you consider using a rinse bucket. I have a 5gal bucket that I use for rinsing (w/ 3gal of water) and a 1gal pail for the soap solution.

You can see how clean my wash water stays the whole time, and how dirty the rinse water gets. Also shown is the sprayer that I used to loosen up the dried-on dirt and salt.

Notice all the sand that got trapped beneath the Grit Guard. That's why I don't want to use a single small pail.

Nice that it's clean, but it's winter around here. This is what always awaits my clean car the second it leaves the garage. :(

Are you using Optimum No Rinse or QEW?

don't remember my OPT No Rinse mix is so "Blue" :):):)

is your wash mitt very dirty? what wash mitt are you using?

Your bucket of rinse water is dirtier compared to mine.

next time i'll take a pic of my wash mitt and my bucket!

You guys in the south have to realize that our vehicles look like that for most of winter. It's disgusting, but there's nothing you can do about it. My car looks like that after a 10-minute drive on a snowy road. Throw in a couple passing semi-trucks and it looks 2X worse.

I do NOT think that Flatstick's vehicle was too dirty for QEW. Just like I do, he said he sprayed it down first to loosen up the dirt. This is key. Spraying the dirt and salt with a QEW/QD/water mixture really loosens the dirt a lot. If you spray enough of it, much of the dirt/salt will drain right off.

My car has been washed in that condition dozens of times this winter.

It's true. Cars up north get dirtier in 2 minutes on the road then they do down south in 2 weeks. I've used QEW on very dirty vehicles before. I refill my spray bottle every time, so that it has warm QEW mixture in it. I give the surface a good spray, then a single wipe with an mf or chenille wash mit. The dirtier the vehicle, the more often I rinse the mitt, and the more water I leave in it before wiping. On mostly clean cars I'll do a whole side before rinsing. On really dirty cars I'll do as little as half a door.

Yeah I always use the entire spray bottle of solution each time. That way I can refill with warm-hot water and fresh QEW/QD.

ABS - I don't use wash mitts with QEW. I prefer to use MFs. I use one for washing, one for an initial drying pass, and one for a final drying pass.

I was using QEW when those pictures were taken. The wash bucket has 2oz of QEW, 2oz of S&G, and filled with warm water.

My MFs release the dirt/sand very well. You'll notice that I only fill the rinse bucket about 3/5 full. That's to allow vigorous rinsing. The way I rinse the wash MF, is forceful enough that the waves generated will frequently reach the top of the bucket. I show that MF who's boss!

I use MFs from Sams for QEW wash. I fold it in half and make a "wide pass", then flip for another pass. Turn it inside out for the last 2 passes using each clean side. By then I am ready to dry that section. I fold the ww so that I can make a "wide pass" with it too.

The MF goes into the rinse bucket and gets a good agitation, then is wrung out and placed into the QEW bucket untill the drying of that section is done. Like whitemax says the MF seams to release the dirt very well. I have some of the heavy sheepskin mits frm excel and they are very nice, But do to the amount of passes I can make with a MF before going back into the buckets, I prefer to use the MFs.

Right. I have a couple of those heavy Excel sheepskins too, but I can't bring myself to load up those beauties with salt and oil. They are only used for summertime washing, with a hose.

Hi Guys,

I took a pic of my wash mitt after washing my ride with Optimum NRWS. This time round i use the 2 bucket method.

i wash the mitt vigously in my rinse pail between passes... :woot2: :woot2: in the end this is the state of my wash mitt... Personally i thought the mitt should release dirt better than this... but my pal say i'm asking too much from it!

is this the normal end state?

So hoping to get some Autopians' opinions

Just wanted to know what's the defination of "Dirty Mitt"

i may want switch to sheepskin permanently!

I prefer a sheepskin mitt over the chenille ones...I just think they release dirt back into the water better but perhaps I'm wrong...

See that's why I won't use my expensive sheepskin mitts for washing this crap off my car. I use MFs, which never look anything like that after QEW. They rinse out extremely well every time.
