For Steve a B2B alignment like this makes sense. He makes and sells Poorboys to many retailers throughout the country. Weather you buy from Steve or one of the many retailers, Steve makes some money.

I'm not looking in the pockets of Detail City, always align yourselves with whom benefits you the best. I was hoping there was some reason for this I did not see.
I feel insulted when I post here and see the Autogeek posse penetrating the forum. Shouldnt we all buy from Detail City and guys like Aaron and Steve that take the time to answer our millions of e-mails and questions?

I don't tell people where to buy from. That choice is up to the consumer. I know that all the sponsors here work hard for and appreciate the business.

So when we buy from Detail City, we are buying from Autogeek?

No, you would be buying from Detail City. Now if you bought something like Wolfgang or Pinnacle, that would have been purchased from PBMA by Detail City for resale.

Just like if you bought a Metro Vac N Blo from Detail City, you would be making a purchase from Detail City but ultimately they had to buy the Metro Vac from somewhere? Right?

Ok.

I didnt want to have prejudice against a company like Autogeek unless I had reason.

Just seemed like dirty pool to me.

That's cool if you prefer buying from DetailCity.com Troy and Sheila are great people.

I went away for the weekend and for the 3-4 days I was gone there were 400 plus new posts. I've been here since Feb. 2004 and I personally don't think it has changed that much. Sure some members have dwiddled away but so be it. DC is a great site full of very useful information with sponsors sell great products... that's all that matters. My 2 cents.

I think you summed it up pretty good.

Not only that, ALL online forums have members that come and go and that's just the way it is. It isn't a bad thing, it's just the facts of the matter.

Also, there have been times when folks talk about members that don't post anymore, they almost always fail to mention or acknowledge the new members that signup everyday or the ones that DO post. They put a certain spin on it to make things sound bad. Maybe they are glass half empty kind of people? I don't know.

All I know is that the Yankees don't win the World Series every year but they sure have won a bunch of them.

We average 75-125 new posts each day. Not sure where you are getting 4-5 posts a day.

Easy as that!
Something must be wrong when I log in then? If I'm gone for a day or two and click new post basically the same threads are up from when I was gone, with like 4-5 new ones. I was away for about a month and only 17 new post came up....maybe theres a glitch when I log in? I thought it was funny that there always seemed to be a lot of people logged in when I looked at online users yet there didn't seem to be many post.

There has to be something wrong with the "New Posts? feature man because now the post count is 191,977. That number updates in real time. Check it every time you make a post and see.

People are posting everyday, I don't know how you are missing them but if there is a glitch and you just really on the "new Posts" link and never go deeper to see all the different threads that have posts I think that may be the case.

Sh!t lol, now I feel like I'm missing everything lol. I knew this forum couldn't have been this slow with how many members there are. Not sure whats wrong. Especially if somebody was gone for a couple days and there were 400 new post, and I was gone for like month one time and something like less then 20 new ones showed up??

Yeah, we better fix that. I knew we have traffic and posts, I just didn't know about the glitch.

That would probably explain why Al-53 was talking so goofy to me that one time.

Dude I swear, I would look over at current users on line and there would be dozens of users but like no post LOL, I'm like how could all these people be on and nobodies posting? So I guess I'm not the only one lol:D

Cool man. I appreciate you letting me know about this glitch. This also gave me the opportunity to address it in public.

Keep an eye on the true forum stats. We should be up to the 200,000 post mark within 90 days!

I'm talking about post as well. Like new post for me only shows around 10 thrreads, and the top 5 have post hours apart? And some of the thrreads haven't had a post since yesterday.

From 12:00 AM this morning to right now we have had 8 new threads and 146 new posts today.

I'm sure that I contributed 10-20 of those posts myself and the shills threw a few in there too today. This would be a slightly better than average day but certainly nothing out of the ordinary.

DC is welcome to anything that is used in the detailing world. I just think that they become less open to it after the same information is pushed and pushed and pushed. I am willing to read any type of review as long as the poster is the one who did the review. I like to get personal opinions of the products out there.

For me, and I stress that this is my opinion, when I got here this forum seemed to me more about detailers sharing their experience and knowledge about detailing. There seemed to be more professional detailers (those who earn their daily bread doing this) and less do-it-yourselfers sharing. We were free to share what products worked for us, in what instances, and what didn't. Who's products we liked, who's we didn't, was shared without any biased rhetoric. Sponsors were not allowed to tote their products outside their own forums; and Detail City did not sell products.

As the membership grew, the ratio of professional members was far overshadowed by hobbyists. Combine this demographic with an excellent web presence, a database of how-to articles, and an established distribution outlet, it made perfect sense to turn this into a product selling site. "Money Talks," I think someone said, and it did. With sponsorship up to $750/mo (last I was quoted by previous owner) why not promote what is available through them -- could it be money also promotes greed??

My curiosity is within all those membership #'s. Of them, how many are unique IP users; just how many are on the payroll with one or more of our sponsors? It really doesn't concern me, and it truly is none of my business. It does kinda bother me though that the majority of the products pitched in the open forums are only available threw them or via the web. As for the sponsor ~ DC relationship, I'm kinda baffled at why a sponsor would pay money to be a sponsor in a place that sells the same things -- isn't that kinda like putting up a Lowes inside a Home Depot?

Once again, this is only my opinions, based upon my experience. I kinda like this place just the way it is -- changes and all. For me, I like giving away my experience and get a kick out-a watchin' the game from the sidelines.

:)
