Fair enough Troy but what is the problem with discussing other new products like those from Zaino? Wouldn't that make it a better community to have members learn about the best performing products from all companies? That way vendors can find which products people are excited about and possibly start stocking them if they don't already. That way everyone wins.

I have no problem with someone discussing Zaino or any other product whether we carry it or not. This is an open forum. There are many examples here that prove that. There is a thread on zymol, which no sponsors here carry, and that's just one example. Allowing shills onto our forum to promote products is not fair to our sponsors and for that matter it's not fair to the members either. They are just salesman in disguise. I don't think anyone here wants that. We have allowed many threads that discuss Zaino, it's only after we discover that there are shills involved that we put a stop to it.

I was tagged as a shill by the mod's, and tried to show proof that I wasn't -but it got blown wayyyyy out of proportion, and at the end of the day it was a smoke screen for the real thorn in the side.

God forbid, I started using and posting about Zaino products.

If someone has proof that I'm a zaino shill -please show it now. I'm pretty sure that I can show you proof of purchases, well before you can show me proof of being a paid shill (LOL).

The 'shill' term has been a very convenient way to push folks out the door, followed closely by the rude moderators having 'the last word' and closing threads.

We are not the only forum in which Zaino discussions have caused problems. I think the moderators here do a very good job. some of our moderators have a bad taste in there mouth about "Zaino Pushers" and from what I have seen they have good reason to be. Let me be clear, this in no way implies that you are one or that they or I do not like Zaino. I would like to get past this and move on to more productive discussions. I would rather see us spend our time on other threads helping members and guests learn from each other about detailing.

You have been using Zaino products for some time now. I have even commented on how well your & your wife's cars have looked with it. In fact I remember actually helping you with a post because you had a problem with the font size. Does this sound like closed mindedness?

My fellow mods and myself are subject to many undeserved comments like this. Things get locked and deleted because they either have or will spiral out of control.

Ever consider that some of the posters might be at fault?
When someone starts out with "don't ban me for this" or "go ahead and ban me for this" what direction do you beleive that the thread is going to take? I certainly believe that the thread will not be moving in a positive direction.

May I also ask, why you did not post your review here yourself? This is really what has brought this thing to a head.

Troy, Thanks for your response and I agree that we should be more focused on sharing information and helping one another.

Jaybs95, I haven’t posted on Detail City for a few months. I am the author of the Clear Seal review, and posted it on another site. The review was copy/pasted by others to many other boards, but it clearly struck a nerve on DC.
When a moderator says “The shills are back in town” early on in a thread, I have no desire to jump in and add value, because the credibility of the poster and content is already under attack.
I didn’t reply to the Clear Seal review until my name was brought up. It felt like a personal attack, which I didn’t appreciate.

When I have to dig up receipts, and e-mails from the past to defend myself, it leaves me feeling personally hurt too.

Pulling out the "schill" card seems to be a great way to drive away long-time DC members that posted about many useful topics prior to the 'Z' explosion hysteria.

Well I have decided to lock this thread as well. I know that means I "get the last word" but being the owner of this site, that is my right.

I will be changing some rules around here that should keep something like this from getting out of hand again. Today is Sunday and to be honest I am wanting a little break before I have to go back at it tomorrow.

I am asking all members to refrain from any negative posting. If you have a beef with me or our moderators we would be happy to discuss it with you via e-mail or private messages.
