Too bad, I was going to respond and I'm on a roll tonight.
I will let a sleeping dog lie.

dr_detail said:For me, and I stress that this is my opinion, when I got here this forum seemed to me more about detailers sharing their experience and knowledge about detailing. There seemed to be more professional detailers (those who earn their daily bread doing this) and less do-it-yourselfers sharing. We were free to share what products worked for us, in what instances, and what didn't. Who's products we liked, who's we didn't, was shared without any biased rhetoric. Sponsors were not allowed to tote their products outside their own forums; and Detail City did not sell products.
As the membership grew, the ratio of professional members was far overshadowed by hobbyists. Combine this demographic with an excellent web presence, a database of how-to articles, and an established distribution outlet, it made perfect sense to turn this into a product selling site. "Money Talks," I think someone said, and it did. With sponsorship up to $750/mo (last I was quoted by previous owner) why not promote what is available through them -- could it be money also promotes greed??
My curiosity is within all those membership #'s. Of them, how many are unique IP users; just how many are on the payroll with one or more of our sponsors? It really doesn't concern me, and it truly is none of my business. It does kinda bother me though that the majority of the products pitched in the open forums are only available threw them or via the web. As for the sponsor ~ DC relationship, I'm kinda baffled at why a sponsor would pay money to be a sponsor in a place that sells the same things -- isn't that kinda like putting up a Lowes inside a Home Depot?
Once again, this is only my opinions, based upon my experience. I kinda like this place just the way it is -- changes and all. For me, I like giving away my experience and get a kick out-a watchin' the game from the sidelines.

For the record, I have no respect for you, not that you need it, you "take" it.
The reason why I edited everything was because no matter what I said, you would've responded in a way that would give u the last word, then you'd lock the thread down or ban me. Im not going to give you the benefit.
I'll keep my mouth shut on this subject from now on, but don't insult me either.
The Fuzz said:Nope, you are the one running your mouth. Like I said, I was just going to respond.
So you are the type that will talk smack on other forums, post here but then delete it because you are scared of the response. Why don't you go respond to me on another forum so ZaneO can pat you on the butt.
joyriide1113 said:What are you talking about? Scared of a response? Online?!?
haha... I deal with much worse people and argue with the worst of the legal business every day at my job... Arguing back and forth with a "bored" moderator of a dying detail forum is not a problem. Its arguing with a moderator who likes to give his last word and then shut down so no one else can respond...
The Fuzz said:So if you don't respect me and don't like it here, why are you here on a Friday night?
I'm working right now and taking time out to post. Why are you hanging out on a dying forum that you don't like on a Friday night?
joyriide1113 said:Haha... Thats all you have? I'll be out by 11:30pm but please, don't stop working for me... Like you said, we all need "to scratch out a living"...
I just don't think your nails are sharp enough...
As more and more reputable, knowlegable, and experienced pro and hobby detailer leave DC, the more your "new" members will end up frequenting and posting on other forums where they can get better answers and read on more "detail" related topics.
But again maybe thats what you need, just a few threads a day to work on, instead of what this place used to be.

audiboy said:I don't think that the site is dying at all. It may not have as many posts as it used to, but that is only because of the rule about showing member work on customer vehicles. I still think this site generates great discussions and new and interesting topics. This is being said as a member, not a moderator. I don't care if I'm a mod or not, I'd still be here every day.
joyriide1113 said:::yawn:: Have fun at work. I'll toast to you tonight!

Am I correct in stating that we are not allowed to post pictures of cars we work on that we do not own?
Troy@DetailCity said:I just realized that this question was not answered by me, this thread got twisted into other topics pretty fast.
We are allowing members to post pics of any work they have done as long as the license plates are not readable. I have a personal desire to see our members have the freedom to post pictures, so I will be changing the rules. For now that is one rule that I am choosing not to enforce.

pogo123 said:Thanks Troy, I agree with that idea. There isn't anything most of us here at DC enjoy more then pics of well detailed cars! Some of the pros get to detail cars most of us never even get to see in person. :yay
Do I like having such a strong competitor on the Detail City forums? As the owner of the forum, my answer is yes, because they have alot to offer you as members and it's what makes detail city what it is.
