the smell. Most Meguiar's products smell nice, and I was expecting NXT to follow suit. But no. To me, this stuff smells like mosquito repellent. It had me thinking about "camping" the whole time I was working on my wife's car.
Can't win them all.... I actually like the smell. One of our chemists came up with the scent. The tested over 500 scents, (I think), before whittling it down to this one. Personally, I like it. I like when I have the garage doors down and after applying to the entire car the whole garage smells like
Key Lime Pie and
Jujubes.
Okay, now with the positives. This stuff absolutely ROCKS! Finally got a chance to use it on my wife's black '03 MDX, and man was I impressed! Applying it feels pretty much like any other synthetic - I used the purple pad. I think maybe a little spritz of QD may help it spread. I did the whole truck before removing - and removing it was a breeze. I used a couple of 16x16 microfibers for the whole car, and guess what - hardly any white residue, no powder, no streaks. Just a super clear, SLICK, shine! I would say it rivals Klasse in shine, beats it in slickness, and gets you there in just one coat! What more can you ask for?
This is what I discovered after about Lab Sample C. (LSA and LSB were close, but more tweaking was needed). I've used my share of waxes in my life and for me, this new product gave me results with just one coat that pretty much blows everything else away.
Best results like any wax, paint protectant, (or polish if your using that word to describe a protection product), is after first doing your best prep-work. That said, for me, I found NXT Tech Wax leaves an incredibly slick, high gloss, "optically clear" finish and depending on your prep work, dramatically reduces cobweb-effect, with just one application.
Best results will come with two applications, with the second application 24 hours later if possible. Also, don't get this product wet during this period of time while the polymers are setting up for best, longest lasting results. (even with a QD).
It raining out here in CA now, so I'll get to observe the durability in the coming weeks. If this stuff proves to be as durable as it claims (and for me, this needs to be around 2-3 months time), I'm hooked.
If you really want to test the durability, try to apply a second coat after 24 hours and if at all possible, don't drive the car in the rain or get it wet until a second 24 hour period passes. This is optimum, but do what you can.
Durability is hard to measure, that's why the ASTM, (
http://www.astm.org), has no official tests for measuring durability and protection of car waxes.
(By the way, durability and protection are two different things, just because something is durable doesn’t mean it is actually
protecting the finish).
Thanks Mike for hooking us up with a great new product at a great price.:up

Your welcome! (I think, I hope?)
I know some people have been positioning all of the chitter chatter on discussion forums over NXT Tech Wax as
marketing hype, I choose to refer to it as
my excitement over a new product. I truly am excited over this new wax. It works great at making your car's finish look it's best, especially under bright lights like direct sunlight or artificial lights, at least better than everything else I have tested personally and I’ve tested a bunch.
It's easy to get a photo of a car with a wax on it to look good in the garage, or as the sun is setting, but most of the pictures I have posted have been with the sun directly beating down on the finish, (anyone notice that?). That’s the proof in the pudding as one of my old friends use to say.
Marketing hype or
Excitement, you say Tomato, I say Tomato, etc... I guess it has to do with your perspective. But judging from most of the posts on the net on NXT results, it would appear most people’s posts sound like they are excited about the results, just like I am.
I think bretfraz summed it up very well when he posted this,
Its not just Mike reputation on the line its Meguiar's too. It wasn't that long ago when many at Autopia and other detailing forums were very down on Meguiar's, especially after the intro of Gold Class which ended up a big disappointment with enthusiasts. I see NXT as the product GC should have been all along. I have to give Meguiar's credit for listening to enthusiasts who wanted a product that was slicker, beaded water, and offered a deep rich shine. The last product I can think of that had any appeal to enthusiasts was Medallion and that ended up a flop due to its high price and finicky performance. IIRC that product came out in 1991 or 92.
While I've found all the hype very troubling for many reasons, I hope everyone interested in NXT goes out and buys a bottle and takes it for a spin. Then when the hype finally dies down we all can examine the product carefully and methodically. Time will definitely tell whether this stuff is worth a rip or not.
You can read it in context here,

And the thread starts here by Pro Touch, (the winner of the Ebay auction, who will be here at Meguiar's next week to attend our Professional Training Class).

Check out some of the direct sunlight pictures I posted on pages 1,2, and 3.
By the way, Gold Class Liquid Wax is the number one selling wax in America according to P.O.P. sales,
* Gold Class Liquid Wax is #1 selling wax since 2001
* Gold Class Paste Wax is #1 in 2003
So while some of the more ardent serious enthusiasts among us here on the forums may prefer other waxes, among the larger collective body of auto enthusiasts, Gold Class is very popular. While it may not bead water very well, (It's not formulated to do that), it does turn medium to dark colored finishes very dark and reflective. Something I think most people want out of their car's finish from a beauty point of view. And, if you apply thin coats, it wipes of very easy, something that I think holds true for all waxes.
(Can anyone name a wax that wipes off easy if you apply a thick coat?)
So I guess time will tell all, (as it should) :xyxthumbs
That all said, nice picture Tony and I'm glad you like the results.
