OCW........Wow!

I've used both and to tell you the truth, Meguiar's UQW lasts just as long as OCW. At least 4-6 weeks on a well prepped surface in MY conditions.

Never had to go back with a second towel on either though.

I was reading on another forum about pros & cons between AW & OCW.

Is it True that if you have a nice looking wax like Natty's Blue, Souveran etc, and put OCW over it, it kinda takes away from the look/mutes it? But AW on the otherhand adds depth, wettness and reflection?

Not true!

OCW looks amazing.

No, it isn't true. OCW adds to the finish, IMO. Personally, just by itself, I think it rivals Souveran and Fuzion in appearance.

No.

........

would OCW have any problems sitting on top of Collies 476s?

I wonder because I presume OCW is solventy and polymer bases like the opti-seal?

I have opti-seal with Collies 476s on top and am considering using OCW as a quick detailer after a weekly wash.#

Please advice,

thanks

I applied OCW on top of some 2 month old 476s on my car (which was pretty much dead) with no real issues. It was pretty difficult to use, but I attribute that to the cold temps (34F in the garage) and the fact that I used way too much.

thanks, I'm worried about the solvents dissolving the 476s away and leaving the OCW. That's in itself wouldn't be a problem, it would just mean that it would be pointless using one of the products.

Hmm, did you find it gave a better finish than the Collies 476s?

OCW really isn't that solventy, I can't imagine it dissolving a solid layer of something like 476.

As for the finish, it gave it the typical warm OCW glow in the garage, but I didn't really get to examine it outside in the daylight because the weather quickly got crappy. I'd imagine it looks good, OCW always impresses me with it's appearance.

right you are.

I've had a look back to the beginning of the thread and I see the original poster said he was putting OCW over the top of collies 845, which is very similar to 476s. your quite right, shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks

OCW is a water based carnauba/sealant blend. It won't attack anything, and can be used on fresh repaints as well.

Adds exceptional look and slickness.

Thanks I was presuming that it was solventy as I thought it would have similar solvents to opti-seal. I've used optiseal (brilliant) and was thinking of using the OCW as a quick detailer are the weekly wash.

OCW and OS are fairly different products.

Now I'm going to have to go out and apply some OCW. lol It's been a little while since I've used it. From what I remember it worked very well.

don't mean to bump an old thread, but i used some today for the first time and im impressed, it definitely looks like i went at it with a paste wax, and not just a qd or spray wax. I didnt get a look in the sun (it was cloudy) but i look forward to taking it outside and seeing it in the sun. the application was a little tricky (its kind of grabby) but its easy.

i use this every other wash. i really dont see a need for paste waxes or liquid waxes any more hehe.

ironically, having said that, i still use souveran every so often.....
