OCW - The first use.

Well it turned up today, and I have to be honest it was brought on a wim, to try it out and see what it was all about, I really didnt think I would like it as much as I did, the whole spray wax is new to me, let alone a lasting sealant one. I see why so many people like it, ( well - I will do if it has some good durabilty). I seems odd that a lasting protection should be so easy to use. I was bad enough for chucking on another coat off paste wax after a wash, but can see with the OCW I wont be able to help myself!

I QD the car as it had been in the garage afer washing at the weekend. Was not totally confident to go the spray on and wipe off route, so with a new yellow foam hand pad, I sprayed the pad with a couple off shots and went to it. Using a Sonus der wunder buffing towel I went round the car panel by panel - one at a time. Spray on pad, wipe on, wipe off. I am gald I did it this way as it used hardly any product at all, one small spray on the applicator does a whole panel, or half a roof or hood. I am sure I would have used lots more spraying on. One MF worked fine to do all the removal on my small hatch back. Never has a sealant been so easy to use.

Its on my black garage queen so will try and get it on a real car at the weekend, to test durabilty. Looks wise the car had recently had Souveran and nattys on it before getting caught out in a huge rain storm on Saturday coming back from a show - was not happy. Car looked very deep and wet after application but I am not sure how much off the look is down to it the OCW, or the wax on it already. No pictures tonight as it was getting dark. Was well pleased with look asI tucked her back away. Will try and grab some in the next few days and hopefully see if it in the sun see if it has muted any flake.

Well worth the buy IMO ideal for applying after a wash, if you are pushed for time, coat effective as I think a little will go along way, (was my concern that it would use to much), great looks. It may be discussed lots on here, but it cetainly is not hype. Just need to see how it hold up on some daily cars.

Quick question, any adavantage or worth applying a second coat?

OCW is layerable so you can apply up to 2 layers at one time but wait a few days for more layers.

Also, I would not use a sponge for application as the sponge soaks up the sealer so you may get results, in terms of durability, that are not satisfactory.

Use one MF to apply and another to buff out. When I use OCW I apply it and I rub the product completly in and then I flip my MF over and buff.

I apply and remove OCW with the new Meguiars Supreme Shine MFs. I fold it over into 8ths, spray, spread with one side and remove with the other, refolding the towel as needed. No problems applying and removing from my own car using only one towel.

I will likely add a second coat at the weekend now so that will be a good 2/3 days cure time in the garage. Cheers for the heads up on the foam applicator, I guess a MF applicator would also soak up to much product to Anthony?

I will try that Scott, thanks. I have a pack of Supreme shines I have only used one, and they have not found a place in my MF useage routine yet, looks like they have now!

Nice review. I've yet to use OCW for myself, but I thought it was a carnauba and sealant product?

No sealant inside. IIRC, it just pure carnuba

Not how I understand it to be honest, thought it was a polymer sealant/wax mix?

OCW is an actual topper. It is a formulation of waxes and polymers and I have read where some car manufacturers in their own testing have gotten 2 to 3 months out of one application. I am not so much concerned with longevity as I am with ease of use and final appearance.

It is applied just like a QD, spray on, buff off. It can be applied to chrome, door jams, trim, rubber and glass, even inside glass and wood trim.

It has been shown to reduce UV on glass by 35%. That alone is pretty impressive BUT again I state that I was at first highly critical of this stuff until I gave it a chance. A client called me theother day and said he got compliments all day on his Porsche, which is 3 years old now. I have only been washing it and applying OCW after every wash. I have not paste waxed in weeks now. Those types of comments make my clients feel great as well as myself.

I use OCW on my black truck also it works great as a detail spray. Cost about the same as some of the detail sprays out there plus you get the benifit of the wax. Easy to use, wipe on and off and I haven't had any streaking issues. I just ordered a gallon of it.

P.S. My bottle of OCW says " UVA and UVB absorbers ( I guess thats ultraviolet rays) contains highest grade carnauba wax and polymer sealants" Hope thats a help. ALSO...the bottle doesn't say so but you will notice some settling so be SURE TO SHAKE it before using. I am currently running a side by side test between OCW and by my old standby OTC Turtle Wax Platimum detail spray for shine and durability.

If you like OCW you can cut the cost of it alot by buying it by the gallon. Turtle wax for 16 oz is about 30 cents an oz and OCW by the gallon is about 56 cents an oz.

I wouldn't use it on a dusty black car - it applies easy of course but the carnauba in it, or whatever makes it slightly thicker than a regular qd, seems to gather dust. It might be ok on lighter colors but for black I'd make sure the car is dust free first. I normally hit the car with some Spray & Gloss, then if I'm feeling like it OWC. I really like the look of it over Natty's.

Another thing it's great for it door jambs, gass caps, bumpers with a lot going on, etc.. It's easy to get it in tight areas and it comes off so easy there is no residue. Oh, and it rocks on glass but you guys know that.

I QD mine with Sonus Detailing Spritz before I used it to remove any light dust from the couple off days in the garage the went to the OCW.

Can i apply a coat of OCW and some minutes later, another one of Nattys blue???

Akele abraço

I'd wait a day since OCW does contain polymers. You can use OCW to spit shine Natty's though, just use OCW sparingly or you may get some light streaking.

Good review Rich :xyxthumbs

I must admit my first experiences with OCW have been positive:

My Mother's car which was detailed with PB spray/wipe then OCW'd still had good slickness and beaded very nicely after two weeks.

My own car was treated after a normal wash with P21S and is still very slick one week later.

I think it is correct what you, and others have said - the "easiness" of the product application can sometimes work to its disadvantage phsycologically. "Its going on so easy and fast it can't last that long" etc..........

I've certainly found it to be a great product so far.
