That last shot of the underside with your reflection really sums up Autopians to me. Nice photos and dedication.

I used OCW for the first time last weekend and think it will be become one of those front and center products in my cabinet.

Wow thats pretty clean undershot. You get snow in UK?

We do, but not to much! The car hasnt seen any and hopefully wont either, I dont like it when it sees rain!

Still lots off work to do uner there, no where near the standard off my old concours car which had seen all weathers. The clios will be more off a winter project.

I thing OCW is a great product and having never used a spray on wax before, I was mighty impressed after its first use.

I used it for the first time a few weeks ago, spray on surface and work-in with a blue M/F applicator then buff off with m/f towel.

Second time I used it was over a fresh coat of YCW, but this time sprayed onto surface and wiped over with m/f towel, flipping sides to finish off.

I prefer the second method, but used a bit more product than expected. Tomorrow I'll try the yellow sponge like you have.

One week later and some nasty motorway rain/spray driving, the slickness is still there and beads like mad. Bearing in mind this is only a quick one coat application, no curing etc.

BTW Rich, did you go the Renault World Series at Donington, bit of a washout on the Saturday, but Sunday was a lot better !

Rich you never fail to impress me with your dedication to your art. When you find the best combo for black let me know lol!

PS that underside shot really puts me to shame!

Let me know how you find it, worked best for me, but durabilty may be compromised.

Glad to har it holds up well in the rain I have 2 coats on mine now, but as it lives in the garage during the week in ned to ty it on something else. Had a play with SSR 2.5 V Optimum polish on my old beater this afternoon so will top the carlack 68 on half the hood as a test tomorrow.

After the day I had a Combe on Sat in the rain I gave the RSW a miss. My mates went up in a 4x4 and said they didnt mind the mud!

I used the last of mine up on my old man's Silver 306, waiting till I need some more bits before I order some more - going to try UPP on it first as it is a forum fave on silver.

If it's a full english and theres one for me no probs! Get cooking!

^^Of course you did beause iirc it was you who told me about SRP and glans on silver!

Its when I see pictures of your car especialy the underside that I realise I'm still learning! Although I did take wheel of today for cleaning and sealing! Just the one though, next tomoz!

Its a steady route of decline mate, I wouldnt call it learning! Its all down hill. Part off me is glad my concours days are over, other half misses them.

Axle stands two at a time ;) Glad to hear it! Makes me feel less of a freak!

This is when you know you need help!... you mate constructs a mirror car shows

... you find you pay 140 quid for a genuine back box as yours has a touch off suface rust

Then you sell it and become free!

Sorry I missed this thread Rich - been concentrating on non-detail work on the car (i.e. getting filthy crawling around in/under the 205). Glad you like OCW - told ya! It really is that good - so much so that I have a gallon winging its way here as I use it pretty much every wash on the Astra, 4 or 5 paid details, my Dad's car etc etc.

Only negative *I* could find was the way it reacted on the Pug - black car, v v hot day (burnt my wrist on the metal sunroof trim....) and it was NOT good - smeared and spotted but on the Astra in similar weather no such issues - go figure.

Your Clio's looking inreasingly stunning - not tempted back into the concours arena with it?.....

Cheers Andy. I know how you feel did some more under the Clio today. It will be a quick option for after wash on the Clio but have used it on the best test bed I have today, Dads work van! so if it holds up, gallon for me too.

Yesterday was warm and sunny, tested a bit on the a warm panel that had nee in the sun, streaked and dryed the moment I wiped it on. Was fine on the side in the shade so I turned the car round and let it cool and then did that area. So I am with you on that.

Luckily the Renault club I am in dont do Concours... So I am safe!

Also, I would not use a sponge for application as the sponge soaks up the sealer so you may get results, in terms of durability, that are not satisfactory.

Anthony, why would this be the case with OCW and not a regular sealant or liquid wax??? I too, like Richt, would like to use it on an applicator pad..

Richt, I know you already said it didnt phase you too much to use a sponge despite Anthonys warning, but I thought I would ask to see why exactly this would happen for OCW and not other LSP products...

Thanks.

Hello,

A sponge will basically soak up the active components in the OCW and while you may get some transfer from the sponge to the paint you will not get a complete transfer which will result in diminished durability. In other words the active components bond to the sponge material.

This is why a MF towel is best, usually one with a low pile.

Hope that helps,

Anthony
