NXT is Meguiar's most durable??!!`

Exactly one month ago, I cleaned & prepped my mom's E320 with a polishing followed by some 3M IHG and then I put on two coats of NXT with the recommended 24 hour waiting period in between. I then topped off with one coat of 3M Perfect It Show Car Paste Wax. The car gleamed like it never did before. Since then, it has endured two or three rainstorms and two hand washes with Zymol car wash. This car is also garaged everyday, BTW. Today, I was at the pediatrician's office walking towards the car in the rain when I noticed, to my amazement, the hood & trunk were totally devoid of beading or sheeting! Water was clinging to them like a big lake. The roof was still beading, but that was because I just put on som #26 on it a few days ago. So, I guess Guru Reports was right. NXT doesn't last worth S#*t and the 3m is not much better. And this car is garaged everyday! The only reasons I can think of for the lack of durability is, maybe, the two waxes react poorly with each other or the Zymol car wash actually stripped the waxes, contrary to what they claim, of course.:down

I also put a coat on my work truck, that gets seriously neglected, 2 weeks ago.

Today it is raining and it is beading like i waxed it yesterday.

All i did was clay it , then NXT.

So by your observations, NXT should be at 50% of its durability?

water beading is not a sign of a wax being gone-from some experimnetation that i've done on SS paint NXT's protective film lasts over 6 months-is it glossy? NO-does it bead water? NO but there is still protective layer on the paint-try NXT booster for extra gloss and beading

I've done many searches on NXT before buying and have found it to be very inconsistent in the durability department. I decided to try it anyways because I like to try everything at least once or twice. Must be the Zymol car wash!

it very well could be a film being left by the carwash-for kicks find a piece of outside metal and put a thin spot of NXT on it-let it cure for 15 minutes and wipe the center of the spot away-leave an unwiped edge for reference and see how long the edge lasts-it doesn't wash off in the rain

Actually, the car was still pretty glossy. I washed & QD'd on Friday last week. Water was sheeting at that time too. It may still be protecting, but IMO, if the water is clinging, it's time to rewax.

I've been on the Meguiar's site also and they actually state that there is a differences between protection & durability. I guess everybody has there own opinions.

I currently have a coat of #26 on my wife's gold Accord. Polished, detailed, the works. I think I'll do an impromptu reveiw on #26 in a month. My wife did mention that the car looked "real shiny" when she went to work on Monday. Just that little statement made all my hard work on her car last weekend worth it!:xyxthumbs

I guess I digressed a little. Sorry!:D

I did pick up a bottle of the booster wax at PepBoys for $1. Maybe I'll try it, but I doubt it. I didn't do a very good job of getting rid of the swirls, so I'll use this as an excuse to redo the whole job. Just got Zaino, FMJ & the Klasse twins this week! Choices, choices! The agony!:D

I think NXT is one of the most overhyped detailing products in existence. But that is just me. :)

Keep in mind that everyone has different results and expectations. Just because others have better luck with NXT does not take credibility away from your experience.

I too have used the Zymol car wash, and sure enough it stripped all the wax off...the water wouldn't even bead when I rinsed the darn Zymol wash off the car! I've had good results with the NXT, plus I've switched over to GC shampoo.

NXT is one of the WORST product I have ever used as far as durability. There are plenty of better sealants out there. There is even plenty of better/more durable carnubas out there.

I used it on my TL-S also. I had applied three coats of Blackfire on it before I washed it a week later. The slickness was noticably less then before. I think I'll put another coat of Blackfire on and then wash with GC shampoo. I was using the Zymol car wash because I'm trying to use it up. Guess I'll use it to wash my tires & rims.:D

IMO, it is kind of sad that the world's largest car care product manufacturer's most DURABLE product is NXT...couldn't they do better? They're such a large company, couldn't they afford to make super-durable products that are class-leading?

(maybe they make it not-so durable so you buy more?)

Just my 2 cents.

Wouldn't #16 surpass NXT in durability?

I think it does, along with #26. Suspect NXT might be on par with GC. If that's so, I'd rather get GC. I think it smells better. Of course, I gotta go through my seven cans of #26 first. Cleaned out the local Autozones when they had the sale.:D

I personally haven't bought a Meguairs product since NXT.

They make great stuff if you know what to buy but I still have a bad taste in my mouth over the hype and BS around the introduction of this product. For anyone to claim it wasnt hyped here on Autotopia blows my mind.

I personally lost respect for people over it. Marketing is fair game, im not that naive but some people crossed the line between company people and company schills on this product.

I agree with every last word, 100%.

i'm not brand loyal to any one manufacturer. but there are many variables that go along with each user's experience. NXT probably isnt as great as the hype would have you believe...but its probably not as bad as either (" never buy another Meg product because of it"?!?!) come on now.

I'ver never even tried it..but some have had great success with it.

Final thought: Meg's has a whole theory/issue/mentality of beading water from their waxes and LSP's. I believe that the 'lab people' have done all they can so that water wont bead on your paint...theory being that this could lead to more damage when drying (in the sun etc)...who knows.

sorry, one more thing:

any manufacturer that can make a durable sealant type LSP, that will darken and give a better (or equal) look than a good carnauba, will have my cash and worship anyday.

I think NXT at least attempted this ^^ and koudos for that.

Ya sure. Megs online does more to educate people than any other company out there.

So not only do they have great products, they have a great support team via the net, and also a 800 to answer any questions.

If all that was left on this planet was Megs, people would still have swirl free and excellent looking vehicles :xyxthumbs
