Can't agree more Jim - the guys I had dinner with last night mentioned Mer and then wondered why I fell off my chair. I've also offered to do their cars for free - hey, it's practice for me, they're bound to look better when I'm done and if I make a mistake they probably don't care anyway!
I met a client yesterday who runs a logistics co and does very well indeed (customised Jeep, Volvo XC90 on way, 3 series for the wife and a toy...)
The toy is a 02 996 C4S in non metallic black which does no mileage at all (like 1500 a year) and he's asked me to clean it for him coz the dealership....say no more.
He told me how much he looks after it but had never heard of MF, washmitts, WW etc etc. I've agreed to have a look (GULP!!!) when I've had some more practice with the PC. Speaking more to this guy he basically said that he wants to get good detailing stuff but Halfords aren't much use (his words).
I really honestly think it's down to the right marketing at the end of the day. Tell me if I'm wrong Alex but you've not had to spend zillions in advertising, have you? The right people buy from you, get looked after and tell their friends - that's how we hooked up originally!
I've waffled (no pun intended) enough. I'll go play with me PC and ignore the amused looks.
